Master Ji
21st March 2020. Many of us reading that date will be reminded of the moment, two years ago, when lockdowns started happening everywhere around the world, and this is the setting for Sameer Sharma’s charming short film, Master Ji. Tyagi sir, a biology teacher close to retirement, arrives home, his nose and mouth covered by a handkerchief. He quickly washes his hands, and tells his wife that it’s no longer safe to be outside. Over dinner, as his family talks about an outing, he insists that no one will go anywhere. The next day is the beginning of a lockdown. As in many places, education moves online, and Master Ji will have to learn how to cope with the very different challenges online learning places on both students and teacher.

After a few setbacks, the Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar film Manmarziyan is all set to be back on track. Besides the fact that the film had to change its director mid-way, there were also rumours that it has been put on hold and the makers are contemplating on shelving it. However, rubbishing all of it is the new director of the film Ashwini Iyer Tiwari who recently clarified on the same. While the filmmaker maintained that Manmarziyan is indeed on track, there were also speculations that the leading man Ayushmann Khurrana has walked out of the project. Denying the same, Ashwini asserted that the actor is indeed a part of the film and also added that they will be starting afresh as they will not be using the portions that have been shot before. Very few may be aware that Manmarziyan was announced with Sameer Sharma as the director and...

Earlier, we had reported that Aanand L. Rai's production Manmarziyan had been stalled due to certain creative differences between the director and producer. Now, the leading man of the film, Ayushmann Khurrana maintained that the shoot will resume in August this year.
Just last week, director Sameer Sharma announced that the film Manmarziyan which was being shot in Punjab was stalled. Claiming that it was a sort of a 'break', the filmmaker had mentioned that they are making a few changes. Ending at that he had further refrained from revealing any more details about the same, stating that it was an 'internal matter'. The Masaan actor Vicky Kaushal is on a roll. He has just signed in love triangle with director Sameer Sharma where he shares screen space with the Dum Lagake Haisha duo Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar.
"It's very different from the usual love triangles, and that's all I can say at the moment. I started my career with a cameo in Sameer Sharma's Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana. So it's like coming home," says Vicky.
Apparently Bhumi who had played a wife with weight issues in Dum Lagake Haisha here plays a slimmed-down stunner with two men panting after her. Interestingly director Sharma has not told either Ayushmann or Vicky who gets Bhumi at the end. "Like I said, it's a very unconventional film," says Vicky for whom the unconventional is the conventional.

Tara Alisha Berry who lost her golfer-father Gautam Berry just two months ago, is stepping into Hindi films with a very unusual debut vehicle. Tara who was lately in the news for an unsavoury property dispute with her stepbrother Sikander (Gautam Berry's son from his first wife Kirron Kher), will be seen as Hindi pornographic literature's resident-guru Mastram's wife in Akhilesh Jaiswal's film on the porn litterateur. When asked about her unusual choice for a debut, Tara says, "It was the script that clinched the deal for me. I had no clue who Mastram was. But I simply fell in love with the script. The director Akhilesh Jaiswal and I connected instantly." Tara was not put off by the porn theme. "The film is about a porn writer. But there is nothing lurid or sleazy about the content. I found that to be deliciously ironical. It's a film about India's most well-known porn writer.

Sameer Sharma of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana fame would be situating his next film Jugalbandi in the world of Hindustani classical music. And the challenge for the director is to make the intricate complex and elitist world of ragas and gharanas accessible to the young. Sameer has taken on the challenge headlong. The raga-imbued music score of Jugalbandi, the story of two musicians the guru and shagird, would be done by Amit Trivedi. Trivedi did the Punjab-flavoured score of Sameer Sharma's Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana. Says Sharma, "Nowhere in Luv Shuv... could you tell that the Punjabi music was by a Gujarati music composer. Amit Trivedi creates a sound that crosses borders. And he's very, very knowledgeable about all kinds of music. So he's my guy for the sound of Jugalbandi." The question that may haunt some out there is, how interested would today's average youngsters be in classical Indian music?...

Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana's director Sameer Sharma seems to have found a winning recipe for good filmmaking. After a film revolving around a chicken recipe, Sameer is all set to direct a film woven around the theme of songs and music. The film to be titled Jugalbandi and would be dedicated to Sameer's grandfather, the legendary singer Mukesh. Says Sameer, "Mukesh was my nanajee (maternal grandfather). Neil Nitin Mukesh is my cousin. I grew up in an environment of music and food. My father is an hotelier. So I've spent much of my childhood in hotel kitchens. I guess that's where my love for food began. You see that manifested in my first film Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana. Now, in my second film my love for music will be apparent." The first thing that stood out of the initial trailers of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (Lstck) was the name of Anurag Kashyap associated with it. Innovative marketing strategies are always the want of the hour when it comes to promoting films. And so, even the team of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana have come up with a very different idea for promoting their film, which stars Kunal Kapoor and Huma Qureshi.
The team has got their tie up with the dabbawalas of Mumbai who earn their living by delivering food tiffins to various offices, schools etc. These dabbas will now carry the film’s tag and will reach 1, 00,000 offices in the city. The story of the film is about a secret recipe called Chicken Khurana, which had made the Khurana dhaba in Punjab famous.
This is producer Anurag Kashyap’s first family film and he thinks that ‘dabbawalas’ as a concept is unique in Mumbai, and as this movie is about food, it was the right thing to do. “We couldn’t think of a better tie up.
