To make do with what they had left, the show’s producers decided to add the stylized animated scenes. Cast members recorded dialogue from their homes for those scenes, which were edited together by animators and editors also working remotely.

“The Blacklist” is the latest show to explore a creative solution to the coronavirus production shutdown.
The NBC series has announced that its upcoming season 7 finale, titled “The Kazanjian Brothers,” will be part live-action, part comic book-style animation.
Episode 19 was midway through shooting in New York when the production shutdown began, according to sources, leading the producers to look for creative ways to end the season. The animation component will be added to incorporate with the already-filmed live-action scenes. Cast members, including leads James Spader and Megan Boone, recorded dialogue for the animated scenes from their homes, while editors and animators are carrying out their work remotely.
“The Blacklist” is the first show to take this hybrid approach, as others, such as “All Rise” on CBS, opted to shoot from-home episodes. NBC also aired a virtual “Parks and Recreation” reunion special which featured the original cast reprising their roles.

This time, the pickup was tied to a celebration of The Blacklist‘s 150th episode with the cast and crew in New York this morning where the renewal announcement was just made by NBC executives. There are no current plans for Season 8 to be the show’s final season.
Additionally, NBC has set a return date for The Blacklist’s current seventh season, which will resume Friday, March 20 at 8 Pm with two back-to-back episodes.
The Blacklist pickup did not come out of the blue. In anticipation of a renewal, leading studio Sony Pictures Television over the past few months closed new deals with the original cast members whose contracts were coming to an end, including stars James Spader and Megan Boone, The show’s entire cast is set to return next season.

NBC has renewed its crime drama series “The Blacklist” for a seventh season.
The original cast of the show, including co-leads James Spader and Megan Boone, are all set to return. Season six of the show is currently airing.
“Congratulations to our amazing producers, cast and crew, all of whom continue to work at the top of their game and make ‘The Blacklist’ one of NBC’s signature series,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment in a statement.
“The Blacklist” is a production of Davis Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television and Universal Television, and news of the renewal comes soon after Boone inked a new deal with Sony, alongside original cast members Diego Klatenhoff and Harry Lennix.

Exclusive: NBC has given an early Season 7 renewal to veteran thriller drama The Blacklist, from Davis Entertainment, Sony Pictures TV and Universal TV.
I hear the pickup had been in the works for awhile. Standard broadcast series’ cast contracts are for six years. While I hear The Blacklist star James Spader had renegotiated his deal early on, adding an extra year, the rest of the show’s original cast members’ contracts were up at the end of the current sixth season. I hear over the past several months, Sony TV inked new pacts with co-lead Megan Boone and the other two original series regular cast members Diego Klatenhoff and Harry Lennix. Securing the core cast paved the way to a Season 7 renewal.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers through the Season 5 finale of “The Blacklist.”)
Raymond Reddington is a liar, and Elizabeth Keen is going to prove it. In this new sneak peek from the two-part Season 6 premiere of “The Blacklist,” which is exclusive to TheWrap, Lizzie hits the ground running on that assignment.
In the 54-second clip, Liz (Megan Boone) and her sister Jennifer Reddington (guest star Fiona Dourif) are discussing their plans to secretly investigate the identity of the imposter (James Spader) who has been posing as their father, Raymond Reddington, for the last 30 years. (Right? That shock came at the end of Season 5.)

The riddle of Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) is the central question for NBC’s The Blacklist as it returns for Season 6 and the just-released trailer suggests that the master manipulator of the underworld may be behind bars for a while.
Season 6 kicks off with a two-part special that airs on back-to-back nights with a 10 pm episode on Jan. 3 and then a 9pm episode on Jan. 4. After Reddington’s arrest as a federal fugitive he’s headed both to court (giving Spader a Boston Legal revival moment: “Shouldn’t judges at least pretend to be impartial?”) and into federal custody (presenting at least the possibility that Red in Orange is the New Blacklist could be an episode title).
For Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) the identity mystery surrounding the man assumed to be her father has her questioning everything. Liz and Red engage in an uneasy cat-and-mouse game in which lines...

NBC has set Friday, January 4, for the Season 6 premiere of The Blacklist, a special two-hour episode that will start at 8 Pm. The series starring James Spader and Megan Boone will move to its previously announced regular 9 Pm slot the following week.
Here’s the logline (which contains spoilers for those who aren’t caught up): Following the startling revelation that Raymond “Red” Reddington (Spader) isn’t who he says he is, Elizabeth Keen (Boone) is torn between the relationship she’s developed with the man assumed to be her father and her desire to get to the bottom of years of secrets and lies. Meanwhile, Red leads Liz and the FBI to some of the most strange and dangerous criminals yet, growing his empire and eliminating rivals in the process. All throughout, Liz and Red engage in an uneasy cat-and-mouse game in which lines will be crossed and the truth will be revealed.

NBC has moved “The Blacklist” to Fridays for its upcoming sixth season.
The broadcaster has announced that the drama series will return with a two-hour season premiere on Friday, Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. and will air in its new regular 9 p.m. timeslot beginning Jan. 11.
This marks the fourth timeslot change for the series since its premiere. It originally aired on Mondays before being moved to Thursdays midway through its second season. It then moved to Wednesdays for Season 5.
It came right down to the wire back in May on whether or not the series would get picked up for a sixth season. “The Blacklist” is produced by independent studio Sony Pictures Television for NBC, which worked against the show as networks more and more look to pick up series produced by their vertically integrated studios. But NBC has a significant ownership stake in “The Blacklist” and the show has...

It came down to the wire but NBC just picked up a 22-episode sixth season of The Blacklist, from Sony Pictures TV. There is no final decision yet on the studio’s other bubble drama series, Timeless.
The Blacklist was a massive hit when it debuted in 2013 behind The Voice on Monday. It took a hit when the network in Season 2 relocated it to shore up Thursday night, using a post-Super Bowl airing to give it a pop. While The Blacklist never came close to the ratings heights of its first season on Monday, it has been a relatively consistent ratings performer, boosted by solid DVR gains.
In its new Wednesday 8 Pm slot this season, The Blacklist has averaged a 1.6 rating in 18-49 and 8.8 million viewers in L+7 to improve the time period by +19% in adults 18-49 vs. last year when recently renewed Blindspot aired there.
The Blacklist comes from Sony TV.

“Anslo Garrick, Part 2″ picks up directly after its first part with Red (James Spader) forced between coming out of his box of protection or allowing his bodyguard, Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq), to be shot by Anslo Garrick (Ritchie Coster). The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 7: “Frederick Barnes”
Directed by Michael W. Watkins
Written by J.R. Orci
Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on NBC
The Blacklist has proven over seven episodes that it excels at being consistently inconsistent from week to week. Some episodes make the show look like it’s a lost cause that should never be viewed by anyone ever. If that’s all the show would ever be, not a problem. Just pack it in and move on to the next thing. The problem is that The Blacklist reaches moments of actual excellence. It somehow tricks the viewer into thinking that they’re watching something of value until the next episode, where the show will likely spin around and smack you for thinking such silly thoughts. That’s just the way it is with The Blacklist: some reach pretty high on the quality scale and others fall well below that mark.

The USA Network announced today that it will start production on "Horizon," a period genre project from executive producer Gale Anne Hurd (“The Walking Dead”), along with the limited series "Don't Turn Around." Read on for more!
While the original description of "Horizon" mentioned aliens, the latest info we have doesn't include that aspect, but in any event, here are more details from USA's most recent press release:
"Horizon" is a period genre drama set at the height of World War II. At a time when many American women took more significant roles in the workplace than ever before, a secretary at the FBI begins a secretive investigation into files that have been stamped with the codename “Horizon.” This mysterious project provides links to the death of her husband and the disappearance of a young girl and has also - unbeknownst to her - aroused the interest of undercover Nazi spies working in the Us.

The tagline for last night’s episode was “Witness the Return”, and it was undeniably apropos. And what a return it was!
In true Fringe form, I still have more questions than I do answers, but I’m more than happy with the issues that were clarified with the airing of “Novation”. One such clarification being that it seems as though Walter did still cross over initially with the intention of curing Peter on the Other Side, and not with the intention of kidnapping him. There was an exchange between Walter and Aaron in “Alone in the World” that suggested otherwise, and, while it certainly doesn’t excuse kidnapping a child, I always felt that Walter’s intentions...

Ever since the final moments of Fringe's first season, we've know that the alternative universe that William Bell is hiding in is drastically different from the one we live in. We could tell that from one simple fact: both buildings of the World Trade Center are still standing.
The September 11, 2001, disaster, as I don't have to remind you, was a monumental day in American history, but in Fringe's "other side," it never happened — the White House was hit instead, apparently, due to the newspaper depicting the Obamas moving into the 'new' White House, which has presumably been rebuilt.
But that's not the weirdest thing that newspaper had to offer — copies of the fictional printing were handed out to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour, and they revealed even more about the alternative universe, including some information that makes me empathize with David Robert Jones. I'd want to go there too.
