Today was a busy day for some of the smaller guilds with the Visual Effects Society, the Cinema Audio Society, and the Makeup and Hairstylists Guilds all announcing their nominations for 2013.
First, we have the Ves, whose main category to look at is “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture,” where we find Gravity and four other nominees that are just going to have to be happy with the fact that they got nominated. This is perhaps the easiest category to call in the entirety of awards season, and I don’t mean just here, but for the Oscar as well (Last year’s winner, Life of Pi, easily took this category before going on to claim the Oscar). Last word on season 1.5 comes from Jane Espenson, who says it will start airing in October Alessandra Torresani tweeted earlier today that they won't know if the show will get a season two until August and that this is the time to let Syfy know that you want the show back - you can do this on Twitter, Facebook, or by emailing Syfy at feedback@syfy.comWhile there's still no news on the season 1.0 DVD for region 1, the first half of the season will be released in the UK on October 11. For the second year in a row, "Battlestar Galactica" has won for television's best special effects from the Emmy awards. The team of Gary Hutzel, Michael Gibson, David Takemura, Doug Drexler, Kyle Toucher, Sean Jackson, Pierre Drolet, Aurore De Blois and Derek Ledbetter won for their work in the "Battlestar Galactica" episode "He That Believeth In Me," the fourth season premiere on SciFi Channel.
