Homero Menéndez
- Special Effects
Born in Gijon (Asturias, Spain) he is a self-made artist who began his
career in the late seventies making naval scale models for companies
like Transmediterranea or Model Reyna. Soon his skills and creativity
stood out and his works are auctioned at the prestigious firm Duran in
Madrid.
Beginnings In 1982 a famous architect offers Homero to make the model of a luxurious hunting lodge in Jaén (Spain) used by the King and other members of the high society. Without hesitation Homero accepts and the result is so extraordinary, that from here on his career changes completely from naval scale models to architectural projects.
Soon his studio at his home gets too small and he changes to a bigger one where he begins to start a team.
From his new location Homero began a career, that has taken him to work for Japan and the UAE. He has made 80% of the scale models, that are exposed at the Madrid City Museum among other important ones. This has led him to receive the award Traditional Craft Master of Madrid.
Once the advertisement world discovered him his scale models have been used in awarded commercials such as the one, that recreates King Kong for the firm Audi. He has also collaborated in the Spanish movie world with productions like "Nobody knows anybody" and "Torrente 2".
In 2007 he returned to Asturias where he has opened a new studio and continues his works with the same eagerness.
