Bulawayo, June 21 (Ians) All-rounder Michael Leask hit a four on the final ball of Scotland’s chase to secure a thrilling one-wicket win for Scotland over Ireland in their Mens Odi World Cup Qualifier Group B match at Queens Sports Club, here on Wednesday.
All-rounder Curtis Campher’s superb 120 and George Dockrell’s fine 69 helped Ireland to a total of 286/8, after being reduced to 70/5, thanks to Brandon McMullen’s 5/34.
In reply, Scotland were in trouble at 152/7. But Leask had other ideas, slamming a glorious unbeaten 91 off 61 balls, laced with nine fours and four sixes, to gain a thrilling win for Scotland.
Leask also shared a vital 82-run stand for the eighth wicket with Mark Watt (47), before stitching a 50-run stand with Safyaan Sharif (6). With this, Scotland have now won 13 of their last 14 ODIs batting second.
Scotland’s chase had a less than ideal start as Matthew Cross fell to Mark Adair in the second over.

US President Joe Biden said he would boast to his daughter about having his photo taken with James Martin, one of the stars of the Oscar-winning short film An Irish Goodbye.
The film, which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film at the ceremony last month, is a black comedy set on a rural farm in Glenmornan, a small hamlet in the west of County Tyrone in Northern Ireland.
It follows the reunion of estranged brothers Turlough (Seamus O’Hara) and Lorcan (Martin) after the death of their mother.
Biden pointed out James Martin in the crowd as he spoke this week at Ulster University in Belfast, during a visit to the country for the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
Martin, who is from Belfast and has worked as a barista in the city, stood and bowed, while receiving applause from the audience led by the president.

On Sunday (12 March), the 31-year-old, joined his co-star O’Hara and directors Tom Berkeley and Ross White on stage to accept the award for Best Live Action Short.
At the end of Berkeley’s speech, he announced that it was Martin’s birthday and asked the audience to join him in singing “Happy Birthday”.

An Irish Goodbye
Inspiration for the black comedy came from co-director Tom Berkeley at soccer match where two brothers were “at each other’s throats,” although where one was caring for the other who had Down syndrome. In “An Irish Goodbye,” estranged brothers Lorcan and Turlough are brought back together following their mother’s death, and Turlough must take care of his younger brother, who has Down syndrome. Lorcan will not leave their farm until they complete all 100 items on their mother’s bucket list. Co-director Ross White tapped into his observations from working in a special education school. “There can be this lack of cynicism with people with Down syndrome, a sort of openness and an honesty and purity about the way they see the world,” he says. The film depicts the brothers’ respective responses to death: “You’ve got this one character who is coping with this in a very emotionally open way,...

Filmmakers Tom Berkeley and Ross White haven’t quite gotten used to being Oscar nominees. The directing team are now first time Oscar nominees for their short film, “An Irish Goodbye,” the pair’s second directorial effort. As Berkeley said in an exclusive video interview with Gold Derby, “It must be what it’s like to go to the Olympics if you’re an athlete.” Check out more of our chat above.
“An Irish Goodbye” tells the story of estranged brothers Turlough (Seamus O’Hara) and Lorcan (James Martin) who come together after the death of their mother. Turlough wants to sell their mother’s farm and send Lorcan, who has Downs Syndrome, to live with family. Lorcan, however, wants his estranged brother to stay with him to run the farm. The bickering brothers find a bucket list belonging to their late mother, and Lorcan refuses to leave the farm until...

Longtime collaborators Tom Berkeley and Ross White, working collectively under the Floodlight Pictures banner, are currently in the running for an Academy Award and have also been nominated for this year’s BAFTAs with their heartwarming, laugh out loud comedy short An Irish Goodbye. This second film from the co-writer/director duo follows two very different embittered brothers dealing with the death of their matriarch and struggling to leave their Irish homestead. With cracking shots of rural landscape framing their final hurrah to bid farewell to the farm they grew up on, Seamus O’Hara and James Martin brilliantly embody the fractious brothers, with wry injections of genius from Paddy Jenkins and Micelle Harley’s soothing narration An Irish Goodbye is a balm for the soul. Berkeley and White smoothly tread the line of delicacy in dealing with grief whilst goading audiences to revel in the, often dark, but hilarious situations the brothers find themselves in.

Like French Exit, for some there is a suggestion that An Irish Goodbye is to leave without saying anything. The Russians and the Poles join in; for them it's "to leave in the English way." The Germans attribute it to the Poles, and so on. Like syphilis it seems a habit a bad habit that crosses borders, and being set in Northern Ireland the film has plenty of those to juggle.
What it doesn't have is no goodbye. The film is built around a list, voiced by the recently departed mother of Lorcan and his elder, expatriate brother Turlough. While she might have left, Michelle Fairley's Grainne still has something to say, albeit in voiceover. Played by James Martin, her younger son Lorcan is the engine of the film. It's his desire to help his mother achieve her hundred aims that gives structure to proceedings. As an actor with Down's,...

"Nocebo" is an equally psychological and physical horror movie. It's mind and body horror, both surreal and all too realistic. Director Lorcan Finnegan's film takes a horrific part of the world, which is best not to spoil, and turns it into a suitably nightmarish setting featuring stars Eva Green and Chai Fonacier.
The home is another cage in Finnegan's new film. "Lorcan explored that a bit in "Vivarium,'" Green told us in a recent interview, referencing Finnegan's 2019 sci-fi mystery. "It was something like being the perfect house, but it's too perfect and you choke. There's something when everything is too perfect, it's not right."
Green is an actor who works with true independent spirits. The "Penny Dreadful" star has made some box office hits, like "Casino Royale," but she's also made several out-of-the-box films, such as "Franklyn," "Perfect Sense," and "The Salvation." With "Nocebo," Green stars in another...

Adelaide, Nov 3 (Ians) Though Ireland have an extremely slim chance of qualifying for the semi-finals of Men’s T20 World Cup, their left-arm pacer Josh Little is fully confident of his side eager to go out on the field with the hope for a victory when they face New Zealand at Adelaide Oval on Friday.
Ireland had earlier stunned the West Indies in their final first round match in Hobart to qualify for the Super 12s. Then, in a major surprise, they got the better of a much-fancied England in a rain-hit fixture at Melbourne. Ireland can claim to make a hat-trick of upset victories if they edge past Kane Williamson & Co.
“I think if you just look at the tournament so far, you’ve seen upsets nearly every day or every second day, if you can even call them upsets anymore. Everyone is pretty competitive. It’s a World Cup.
