Mel has been given the title of the most hated character in The Last of Us Part II, largely due to the choices she makes along her journey. On accord with her independent nature and stubbornness, she endangered herself and her unborn child by traveling to the aquarium, through areas not controlled by the Wlf, where eventually she met her demise at the hands of Ellie.

Mel wanted to leave with Owen and others to Santa Barbara, California, leaving Abby behind. She feared Abby’s intention of regaining Owen’s favor and interfering with her relationship. She was caught off guard by Ellie while she stood arguing with Owen about leaving Abby behind and starting their life afresh, but that eventually ended her life.

As production continues on the second season of HBO's adaptation of best-selling survival horror video game, The Last of Us, we have another late casting addition in the form of an Academy Award-nominated actor.
Variety (via GameFragger.com) reports that Jeffrey Wright has signed on to play Isaac Dixon, the character he provided the voice for in The Last of Us Part II game.
This take on Isaac is described as “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.”
In the game, Isaac leads the Washington Liberation Front (Wlf), who are engaged in a long-running war against the fanatical Seraphites (Scars). Abby Anderson (Kaitlyn Dever) is his most trusted and valued soldier, but she soon begins to question his ruthless and uncompromising tactics.

The worst characters in gaming are typically the ones these protagonists are up against. However, amid the shortage of single-player campaigns, thanks to the live service epidemic, protagonists are becoming rare in video games.
But that’s not always the case. Sometimes, protagonists can be just as annoying. The sad part is players cannot get rid of them if they like the video game they are playing. Such a dilemma.
Why Do Antagonists Have All the Hate When These ‘Pros’ Are There? Here Are the Most Hated Protagonists of Gaming
Some characters will stick with the players like glue, and while the players may want to bury them in the ground, it’s not really possible. Let’s say they are just hanging by the mercy of the video game, as players won’t be allowed to proceed further without them. We picked five of such characters whom gamers might find very lovable.

The Last of Us is probably the most popular PlayStation franchise next to God of War, but the sequel has had its fair share of criticism. Naughty Dog is one of the bravest developers in the gaming industry today, but the team’s creative decisions are causing massive backlash.
The sequel was well received by critics but not by the fanbase for several reasons, but it seems like there is a shift in tone towards The Last of Us 2 now. The gaming community gave the game the recognition it deserved for the gore system.

The Last of Us had recently made big casting announcements, such as adding Kaitlyn Dever as Abby Anderson, Young Mazino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina and Catherine O’Hara in an unspecified role. Merced recently spoke of her experience starting filming, “Craig Mazin is one of the most brilliant people, actually, I think, a genius. I’m sure if they did the test, they would find out that it’s true. And he’s just has a way of bringing these characters to life that no one could ever just come up with in such a short amount of time. I love him. He’s amazing.“

Season 2 of the HBO series adaptation of the video game The Last of Us has officially started filming in Vancouver, Canada, and a while back (before filming began) the show’s star Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, said that one of the things she was most looking forward to about the new season was getting the chance to play out “the Dina storyline”. Last month, we learned that Isabela Merced – who can be seen in this weekend’s release Madame Web – had been cast as Dina, Ellie’s new romantic interest. While attending the world premiere of Madame Web, Merced took a moment to confirm that she has already done a day of work as Dina.
Merced told Deadline, “The stars are truly aligning. I had several of my friends that I’ve worked with in this industry for a long time join the cast. I can’t say who just joined.

Almost four years later, Joel’s death in the first act of The Last of Us Part II remains one of the most shocking twists in video game history. Led to believe by the game’s marketing that Joel would be a major part of the sequel, back alongside Ellie, who’s on a quest for revenge, fans weren’t expecting to have to say goodbye to this character so soon. But as revealed by the new documentary Grounded II: Making The Last of Us Part II, they could have been made to say farewell a lot earlier than Part II.
The doc reveals that Joel actor Troy Baker actually pitched that the character’s death should come at the end of the first game after Joel kills Marlene and the Fireflies in Salt Lake City. Baker felt that if Joel wasn’t punished for committing such a heinous act...

An HBO sizzle reel confirms that The Last Of Us season 2 will be with us in 2025. Not too long to wait, then…
With reports that The Last Of Us season two would begin filming in early 2024, it followed that the finished series wouldn’t be with us until the following year. HBO has now officially confirmed that, with an HBO max sizzle real stating that The Last Of Us’ next season would be “coming in 2025.”
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will, logically enough, be reprising their roles of Joel and Ellie respectively, and it’s common knowledge that the next season will follow the events of the second videogame. Co-creator Neill Druckmann has even teased that a small ‘element’ from The Last Of Us Part 2’s cut content – which will be shown off in January 2024’s remaster – will make an appearance in the second season. What is it exactly? He isn’t saying.

Season 2 of The Last Of Us may have found one of its central characters, as it’s reported that Booksmart’s Kaitlyn Dever is in talks to play Abby Anderson.
Given the prestige TV treatment by writer/creator duo Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, The Last Of Us was a major ratings success early this year – in fact, HBO ordered a second season almost as soon as episodes began to air in January.
Now that those strikes are over, it’s widely reported that The Last Of Us season two will begin production in early 2024 – indeed, an entry on the Film & Television Industry Alliance’s website (as spotted by Insider Gaming) reveals that filming is set to begin on 7th January 2024 in Vancouver.
If that’s the case, then filming is mere weeks away – which might be why we’re starting to hear some casting gossip emerge from Hollywood insiders.

Sony Entertainment and HBO hit it big when The Last of Us debuted at the start of this year. The adaptation of the best-selling video game franchise, starring Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie), is one of the network’s most talked about shows in recent memory, and casting rumors for The Last of Us Season 2 are heating up. While there will be plenty of new characters to meet in the hotly-anticipated follow-up season, Abby Anderson is by far the most popular. Abby is a Washington Liberation Front soldier who falls to pieces after Joel kills her father, Jerry Anderson. Abby makes it her mission to hunt Joel down and make him pay for what he’s done. Throughout The Last of Us Part II video game, players step into Abby’s boots, allowing them access to her emotions, torment, and transformation into a sympathetic antihero.

HBO‘s The Last of Us could be the beginning of something much more significant for the network. Development on the second season is already underway, but could there be more in the pipeline? According to The Last of Us co-creator Craig Mazin, spin-offs could happen. However, extensive talks should take place about how an expansion to the world would enrich the world and its characters.
“We haven’t talked about that specifically because we’re so focused on just telling this main narrative,” Mazin told The Wrap about creating spin-offs. “I’m not against the idea of other shows that may draw from these characters or that world.”
Speaking about his contribution to the franchise, Mazin continued, “I don’t know how much more The Last of Us I personally would be able to do. I mean, these shows are so big, I’m sort of burning one of...

Season 1 of The Last Of Us did not officially introduce Abby Anderson, but season 2 will feature her as the primary character. For its plot, the HBO series tends to follow its video game roots. The Last Of Us season 1 followed the footsteps of its videogame, and the second part of the adaptation will likely do the same. The series was widely acclaimed immediately after its release with both video game fans and the general public enjoying it equally. With Season 2 set to follow The Last of Us: Part II closely, video game players have an idea about...

This post contains spoilers for season 1 of "The Last of Us," and the game's sequel, "The Last of Us Part II."
Season 1 of "The Last of Us" was not just one of HBO's most successful new shows in over a decade, but also a landmark moment for video game adaptations. A once cursed genre has now been proven to be especially profitable, and as various other games like "Fallout" make their way to becoming live-action shows, there is a bright future ahead in the entertainment industry. The HBO series faithfully captured the post-apocalyptic dystopia of Naughty Dog's critically acclaimed game in live-action, as well as delivered career-best performances from Pedro Pascal ("The Mandalorian") and Bella Ramsey ("Game of Thrones").
What was the secret to "The Last of Us" and its rare critical success? According to showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, it was about staying true to the essence of the original story,...

This article contains spoilers for the first season of "The Last of Us" and "The Last of Us Part 2."
They always say that if there's a question mark in a headline then the answer to whatever that question is "No." So let's get that out of the way right up front. Will the original voice and performance capture actor from "The Last of Us Part 2" video play the main antagonist, Abby, in "The Last of Us" season 2? I can pretty confidently say no.
Laura Bailey performed Abby Anderson in the video game and did a hell of a job, I must say. Abby is a complicated character, full of determined rage and surprising depth and Bailey absolutely captured that in her performance, but there's a slight complication in that she doesn't really embody the character and her unique physicality in the real world.
In the same way that Ashley Johnson...

This Last of Us article contains Major Spoilers for season 1 and potentially season 2.
The mushroom madness of The Last of Us season one has come to an end, but with HBO already giving a second run of episodes the green light (was anyone really doubting it?), all eyes are on what’s next for Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal) now that they’ve completed their mission to find the Fireflies.
Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin serves as showrunner for the HBO series, working alongside Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann to bring the classic 2013 game to life. For the second season, the pair have confirmed that they’re going to next adapt 2020’s The Last of Us Part II.
In fact, some fans think the season 1 finale, “Look for the Light,” is actually hiding a major character from The Last of Us Part II in plain sight, paving the way...

Before HBO's "The Last of Us" premiered in January, fans of the iconic survival horror game anxiously awaited its release, wondering if this adaptation would fall into the same trap that so many video-game adaptations had by not staying faithful to its source material.
Although the show has undoubtedly taken some creative liberties, fans of the games and newcomers to the franchise have been impressed, so much so that sales for the "The Last of Us: Part I" game have skyrocketed, and the HBO series has already been picked up for a second season.
Since the first season of "The Last of Us" follows the first game's story, the second season could cover "The Last of Us: Part II"'s events. So check out what happens in the "The Last of Us: Part II" game to get an idea of what may happen in HBO's "The Last of Us" season two.

For Ashley Johnson, the chance to be a voice actor in the post-apocalyptic video game The Last of Us Part II was both a risk and irresistible. It was her first gig as a video-game protagonist, as her character, Ellie, moved up from a supporting role. But Part II wasn’t a paint-by-numbers sequel: It killed off a beloved character; it featured a lesbian lead on its cover; and it subverted the dynamic of the original, which followed a white man as he protected a young girl from danger. As...
