Having seen how grown up Sheldon Cooper made friends, it’s daunting to see how Young Sheldon went about the process. After all, he wasn’t even four feet tall in high school. As always, it was his mother Mary Cooper’s job to push this process. Even if he didn’t make friends in high school, she knew there would come a time when he could need them. It took a few decades for Sheldon to find lasting friends as an adult. However, he did find some success when he was a boy. It just took some creativity. He has friends, just not

It was the spinoff that we’ve been waiting for and only 10 years in the making. Young Sheldon was something we conjured up ages ago, and we’re glad that networks execs are finally catching up to vibe. While we love all the characters in the new show, there’s one that we’ve been waiting particularly to see. Meet the woman that raised the young genius, Mary Cooper, and the woman that plays her in the spinoff, Zoe Perry. Here are five things you didn’t know about her that might surprise you totally but also make sense at the same time. 1.

The first episode was provided prior to broadcast.
The pilot for CBS’s new spinoff series, Young Sheldon opens with a shot of a train set accompanied by a voiceover from, uh, old Sheldon (Jim Parsons) explaining how he would have been a ticket taker if he couldn’t have been a physicist. What this means, except as a throwback to the original TV show, I am at pains to parse out. Young Sheldon spends the opening of the show playing with his trains, but they’re never referenced again, nor do they form any thematic basis for the rest of the pilot.
It’s a weird introduction to a show intended to cover the East Texas upbringing of The Big Bang Theory’s most obnoxious lead, and it only gets weirder from there, as Sheldon has dinner with his family and introduces them, in voiceover, one after the other.

“You’re turning into your mother” is often considered an insult, but not to Zoe Perry. In fact, becoming her mother — three-time Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf— recently became a job requirement for the 33-year-old actress.

CBS' Big Bang Theory prequel Young Sheldon is poised to introduce one of the franchise's most iconic roles.
Annie Potts has been tapped to play the series-regular role of Meemaw, young Sheldon's (Iain Armitage of Big Little Lies) foul-mouthed, hard-drinking Texas grandmother. The character has been referenced scores of times on The Big Bang Theory — with June Squibb taking on the role in season nine. The character is described as a woman who is very supportive of her grandson and his unique gifts. She is the mother to star Zoe Perry's Mary Cooper.

The Big Bang Series spinoff based on Sheldon Cooper's youth is a go at CBS.
Young Sheldon will star Iain Armitage (Big Little Lies) as the youthful Cooper, and Jim Parsons will be along for the ride as the series narrator.
The cool factor of this upcoming series hardly stops there, though.
If it's not reboots or revivals, then it's spinoffs that are all the rage.
We have The Blacklist: Redemption and a plethora of Chicago spins on NBC, ABC has an impending spinoff of The Goldbergs and potential college-based 'black-ish show to come and The Good Fight is currently airing on CBS All Access.
Will any of them be as big a spinoff featuring what will surely be an adorable Sheldon Cooper in childhood?
With the success of The Big Bang Theory, it's been impossible not to wonder how Sheldon came to be the man he is today.

Chicago – Movie pundits are falling all over themselves to point out there is no maze running in “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,” so buyer beware! What began in the first film as a new take in the dystopian Young Adult movie genre, has become a scattered, uninteresting mess.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
Having not read the original source novels, it was impossible to distinguish what made this latest adventure so intent on expansion. When our young heroes were whisked away in the first film, it seemed like an expressionistic twist, that the curtain was about to be drawn back on something that was really amazing. But what we get in ‘The Scorch Trials’ is a series of step-by-step weigh stations, that make less sense as the journey goes on. Also, so much of the first film depended on the personalities of the kids, and in this one they’re reduced to tiny props...

While one of the strongest ensembles on television today, The Big Bang Theory has come to revolve around the socially awkward Sheldon (Jim Parsons), so it makes perfect sense that the eighth season began and ended with the brilliant scientist. Sandwiched in-between, the series slowly advanced the cast of characters through their lives and thankfully Chuck Lorre has not prevented them from growing.
Warner Bros Home Entertainment releases The Big Bang Theory The Complete Eighth Season this week and the combo pack contains all 245 episodes on Blu-ray and Digital HD. We open with Sheldon, 45 days after leaving on a train, only to call Leonard (Johnny Galecki) to come rescue him from Kingman, Arizona. Accompany him is Amy (Mayim Bialik), who has been hurt by Sheldon’s actions, which remains a recurring theme through the season, setting up the finale, where she puts their relationship on hold just as he was about to propose.

Just above is your first look at Kurt Russell in Bone Tomahawk, a brutally violent, character-driven story following a sheriff (Russell), a gunslinger, a befuddled oldster and a cowboy as they attempt to rescue a group of captives from a band of cannibalistic troglodytes. Billy Ray will direct from a script he wrote, with some updates from the original. Julia Roberts and Chiwetel Ejiofor also star. [THR] • Magic City is coming to the big screen with Bill Murray...

Sheldon is unnerved by a discovery in this week's sweet episode of The Big Bang Theory...
This review contains spoilers.
7.18 The Mommy Observation
This week’s Big Bang Theory does something highly unusual for this show – it actually follows on from last week. Not only does it link up thematically with the previous episode, as Howard helps Sheldon with a family situation and Penny and Leonard think about their future and their commitment to each other, it actually follows on plot-wise from last week, as Howard and Sheldon are still in Texas on their way to visit Sheldon’s mother.
Sheldon arrives at his mother’s unannounced because he wants to surprise her, which seems a bit illogical and un-Sheldon-like, but is rather sweet. Perhaps this is another way in which Amy is changing him, or perhaps he’s just softening up a bit as he matures.

Sheldon Cooper is one of the most interesting and hilariously dysfunctional characters on television today. While he has an above genius Iq level, he can be immensely stupid. His greatest flaw, although he would say otherwise, is hubris, and that flaw causes him to continuously put himself in situations that are difficult or at times life-threatening. His need to constantly be the smartest person in the room is always his undoing, and we meet someone who finally forces him to live with the consequences of his actions.
Our quartet of scientists are attending a department function to welcome the new head of the Physics department, Dr. Eric Gablehauser (Mark Harelik - Jurassic Park III), and before it even begins, Sheldon is complaining to Leonard how much he hates these events. Furthermore, he reveals how little regard he has for Gablehauser, who has written several books on the subject of physics...

The Big Bang Theory Has a Rhinitis Revelation
Sheldon’s mother Mary (Laurie Metcalfe) visits for a weekend, and while she reconnects with the rest of the gang, Sheldon feels she isn’t spending enough time with him.
Mary Cooper is one of the most complex characters on The Big Bang Theory. On the surface, she’s a politically incorrect born-again Christian hoping to convert non-believers. In a deeper level, she’s the warmest, most nurturing Big Bang parent we’ve seen. (Howard’s mother is also nurturing, but she’s never appeared onscreen.) Leonard, Penny, Raj, and Howard all feel comfortable opening up to her, and it’s a chance for viewers to see what’s currently motivating or bothering them.
Traditionally, Sheldon is annoyed by Mary’s refusal to let scientific fact shake her faith. He envies Leonard’s childhood in comparison to his, and gets along better...

Sheldon Cooper will never grow up. It's always been part of the humor of his character that someone so very intelligent could be so immature. This season on The Big Bang Theory there seems to be a recurring theme of not only addressing his unchanging ways, but also to perhaps attempt to start changing aspects of his immaturity and dependence on the ways he's refused to see beyond. What better way to do that than by having a visit from mama Cooper?
We've met Mary Cooper a couple of times before, but never has she been in the majority of the episode like she was last night. She's visiting California while on vacation before she heads out on her Christian cruise, yes you read that right. While there, she wants to spend time with not only her darling 'Shelly', but also his friends. Her visit was a perfect time to...

Editor's note: I wanted to take a moment to thank Jane for taking the time to share her thoughts with us over the past two and a half months. Jane is incredibly busy and we were very flattered when she agreed to write this column to give our readers an inside take on each episode of Torchwood. Thanks, Jane! We can't wait to see what you do you with Once Upon a Time!
I got an email from Russell today, in which he said, "Did I ever think I’d see the credit Jane Espenson & Russell T. Davies on screen?! No, I never, ever, ever did." Well, I never, ever, ever did either. It's a thrill, I'll tell you!
I will also tell you that this episode was actually written by Russell. What I did was write a first draft that got the scenes of his story down on the...
