The Weeknd is continuing to boycott the Grammys, but two of his projects — his Avatar: The Way of Water theme song and Emmy-nominated Live at SoFi Stadium concert film — are on the Grammy ballot.
Disney Music Group confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that they submitted “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” from Avatar for best song written for visual media, while HBO confirmed they submitted the singer’s concert special for best music film.
“Nothing is Lost,” released in Dec. 2022, was shortlisted for best original song at this year’s Academy Awards. The Weeknd co-wrote the song with Grammy-winning composer Simon Franglen and Swedish House Mafia members Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. If nominated, Franglen and the electronic trio would receive nominations alongside The Weeknd.
Live at SoFi Stadium was filmed across two nights in Inglewood in Nov. 2022 as The Weeknd performed on his After Hours til Dawn Tour.

The most surprising name hidden in the liner notes of the Weeknd’s fourth studio album, After Hours, is Mario Winans. It’s easy to see, within the bleak futurism of the Weeknd’s latest release, flashes of the classic R&b turns that WInans is known for — and nowhere...

Kanye West performed a new song "All Day" during the Brit Awards last week, and today the studio version finally arrived. Some essential* thoughts: 1. Does the voice box melody at the beginning not remind you of everybody's favorite jock jam, Zombie Nation's "Kernkraft 400?" 2. Paul McCartney's contribution -- so far as it can be tracked and confirmed -- is the beach-day whistling over the guitar riff your dormmate from college freshman year played over and over again And I Get It Kyle You Learned C7 Chord Good For You I Have Midterms In The Morning 3. Theophilus London, Paul McCartney and Allan Kingdom got official contributor credits in the song release to iTunes, but check out the full, all-you-can-eat credits bar for the purchased version: Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Tyler Bryant, Kendrick Lamar, Karim Kharbouch, Cydel Young, Victor Mensah, Mike Dean, Che Pope, Noah Goldstein, Allen Ritter, Mario Winans, Charles Njapa,...

"It was just a bit of a shambles." Those are Jade's words, not ours - though frankly, if he hadn't said it, we would have done. Yes, Noel can pull out a backflip. But there was some serious awkward shuffling going on. "Rahs used to be the main dancer," Jade snarked. "I Still Am," Rahs yelled, later admitting that he'd "completely destroyed" the image of himself as a smooth mover.

Legendary producer Quincy Jones has taken aim at hip-hop mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs over his musical talent, insisting the rapper relies on his impressive marketing skills to succeed.
Diddy - all marketing, no music?
Jones, the man behind Michael Jackson's classic Thriller album, was appearing at a launch event for online music streaming service Spotify in New York on Tuesday when he singled out Combs for criticism.
The music veteran told the crowd Combs "couldn't recognise a B flat if it hit him", adding, "P. Diddy has a doctorate in marketing."
The hip-hop star is widely touted for his skills as a top businessman, with investments ranging from the Ciroc vodka brand to his clothing company Sean John, and he is famous for signing stars including late rap icon Notorious B.I.G. and singers Faith Evans, Mario Winans, 112 and Cassie to his Bad Boy Records label, although his solo efforts have not been as well-received.

Quincy Jones is certainly one of the most influential producers of all time, having lent his midas touch to everyone from Ray Charles to Michael Jackson. As such, he's an authority on music and is entitled to give his opinion on the careers of others in the industry. And on Tuesday, he had Diddy on his mind.
Speaking at a Spotify launch event (the streaming service was announcing artist-curated playlists), Jones said that the rapper and Bad Boy head honcho "couldn't recognize a b flat if it hit him." Instead, Jones noted, "P. Diddy has a doctorate in marketing," citing his clothing labels and success with Ciroc (his vodka company) as the rapper's true talents.
Though Jones' comments might strike some as a welcome rebuke of Diddy's reputation as one of the most influential men in hip-hop, the situation is slightly more complicated. Though Diddy is probably not a fantastic musician,...

As the beleaguered residents of East Baltimore understand all too well, when Omar’s in town, you know it. In the space of a day, Omar Little – Michael Kenneth Williams – has gone from a pleasant memory of the latest season of Boardwalk Empire to all over the crime news cycle.
Granted, it’s a bit of a slow cycle. But by any measure, it’s raining Omar.
And it’s for weird stuff, too. Yesterday, it was starring in a video from Funny or Die, The Wire: The Musical.
Today, it’s for attending a high-profile trial for convicted drug dealer, James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond. Omar Little’s presence didn’t sway the jury. Rosemond was found guilty in Federal Court of distributing millions of dollars worth of cocaine.

Chris Brown recently helped Diddy-Dirty Money film a music video for their duet track "Yesterday". An on-set picture has been unleashed, seeing Breezy wearing black outfit and shades with no one else spotted in the image. P. Diddy, the leading member of the Hip-Hop group, simply wrote on Twitter "Sh*t is crazy!!"
"Yesterday" is lifted from Dirty Money's December release "Last Train to Paris". It is co-written by Breezy, Drake, Crystal Johnson, Kevin McCall and Mario Winans who is also involved in the production.
Chris Brown has spent 2010 doing community service and attending domestic violence classes following 2009 assault case with ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Celebrity Big Brother housemate Nicola T has teamed up with former CBB star Coolio and recorded her first record.
The track titled ‘Drunk’ is due for release on March 1st, just weeks after Nicola will emerge from the Bb house.
An insider described the song as “a unique track with its very own special ingredients, plus a sprinkling of Black Eyed Peas and Timbaland.”
Before Nic went into the house, she told The Sun: “I’ve been a fan of Coolio for years and I very feel privileged that he’s agreed to team-up with me for this single.
“Jud Mahoney has worked with many big-name artists such as Mario Winans, Tyrese, Liberty X, Eamon, Kci&JoJo and Michael Jackson, so it’s a huge honour that he wrote and co-sings this track with me.
“I’m really excited about the single – it’s credible and a fantastic, funky feel-good song!

Nor will that end arrive today, as thousands gather to memorialize the King of Pop at Los Angeles' Staples Center. But here is a smattering of the respects already paid to Jackson over the past 12 days: • Sean "Diddy" Combs, Chris Brown, The Game, Boyz II Men, Polo and Mario Winans whipped up the tribute track "Better on the Other Side." A music video for Michael Jackson tribute song "Better on the Other Side", which is performed by P. Diddy, Chris Brown and The Game, has made its way out. It mostly captures the musicians in studio during a recording session for the track. It also shows random footage showing people paying tribute to Michael by moonwalking on the street and gathering in an open place with flowers in their hands.
Beside Diddy, Brown and Game, other singers lending their vocal to the tribute song are Usher, Mario Winans and Boyz II Men. They debuted the track on June 26, one day after Michael passed away, on Los Angeles radio station Power 106.

"We Are the World" and "Heal the World" were undoubtedly two of Michael Jackson's greatest songwriting and humanitarian achievements. But if Mj had been able to cool off the tension between 50 Cent and the Game, as the California rapper claims he attempted to a few years back, then Jackson could have won the Nobel Peace prize. He certainly would have earned it.
Game told MTV News that during his beef with 50, which began in 2005, Jackson actually called the Compton Mc and offered to play peacekeeper between the two former friends.
"I was on tour in Canada, sitting in my room, cutting my hair," Game told MTV News, recalling Jackson's phone call. "I was messing my hair up. Then my road manager knocks on my door. Boom, boom, boom. He told me,...

While P. Diddy, The Game, Usher, Chris Brown, Mario Winans and Boyz II Men recorded Michael Jackson tribute song, Beyonce Knowles and Jay-z choose to remember the late singer on-stage when 2009 Bet Awards is kicked off on June 28. Joining them to pay tribute to Michael at the event are other performers which include Ne-Yo and The-Dream.
Beyonce and the other Bet musical acts actually have rehearsed their songs for weeks, but they are willing to change the numbers in a bid to honor Michael. "To change it up in three days is something that's not easy but they're all willing and looking forward to it," the awards' producer Stephen Hill told Associated Press. "There's a direct line from Ne-Yo to Michael Jackson. There's a direct line from Beyonce to Michael Jackson. There's a direct line from Jay-z to Michael Jackson. I think they'll want to pay tribute in their own way.

A day after Michael Jackson passed away, P. Diddy wastes no time to join fellow singers and record a tribute song titled "Better on the Other Side" for the late King of Pop. Among other stars who lend their vocals on the track are The Game, Usher, Chris Brown, Mario Winans and Boyz II Men.
"Who's Michael Jackson?/ You're Michael Jackson/ I'm Michael Jackson/ We all Michael Jackson," Game raps on the song's line. "I guess what I'm asking is/ Everybody bow their head/ For a legend, don't breathe for a second."
At the end of the track which was debuted on Los Angeles radio station Power 106 on June 26, Diddy concludes with a statement saying, "People can say what they want about you. We gonna remember the miracles that you showed us. Through your music, through your dance. You were the one that made us realize that you are the world.

Basically a tribute to the way Jackson influenced countless artists who came after him, a few lines of the track go like this: "I guess what I'm askin' is, everybody bow your head for a legend, don't breathe for a second... My confession, somebody tell Usher, I seen...

A music video directed by Bernard Gourley to support Cassie's new single entitled "Must Be Love" has made its round. It shows the singer who shaved bald the right side of her head appearing alongside her collaborator P. Diddy.
The concept of the video is to capture "something smoldering and sensual ... something cinematic ... something dripping with desire," so Bernard previously said. "A vintage fan oscillates on a small table, while we see an extreme close-up of an ice cube tracing a set of full lips (presumably Cassie trying to beat the heat figuratively and literally)...," Bernard shared more.
"We see condensation building on the air condition unit in the window ... the condensation drips down the wall like sweat ... I want to tell a story through mood and evoke emotion with dramatic images that grab you."

P.Diddy is working on a own album, y’all! It’s only been a couple years since he wowed us with his single Last Night off of Press Play, but it feels like it’s been forever! He’s just revealed details for his sixth LP entitled Last Train To Paris. The LP will feature what Diddy calls an electro-hip-hop-soul-funk. That’s a lot of genres in one! But if one man can pull it off, it’s Diddy. He’s collaborating with producers The Dream, Tricky, The Neptunes, Mario Winans, T-Pain and Rodney...

Hip-hop producer Mario Winans is reportedly refusing to support his three-year-old son, according to his ex-lover Janel Bennett.
Bennett, who was in an eight-year relationship with Winans before she had her son Jordan, claims she was removed from her family home in Miami, Florida because Winans refused to pay child support.
The surprise eviction has apparently left the cocktail waitress "homeless and living with friends on the south side of Chicago".
Two years ago the single mother was caught up in a legal battle with the rap producer to prove he was the father of her son. Dna reports came back positive, and
Winans was made to pay Bennett $4,500 (GBP2,250) per month in child support.
Bennett tells the New York Post's PageSix, "He hasn't paid me. I just wanted support, and I was on disability and Medicaid and welfare just to have the baby.
"He stopped paying last year... by the end of August 2007, I lost the house and moved to Chicago... I just want him to do right by Jordan... It would be so simple for him to call me so we could work something out."
Bennett met the I Don't Wanna Know star in 1997 through their mutual friend Sean 'Diddy' Combs.
Winans' representatives have made no comment on the allegations.
