As expected, Disney is following Warner Bros. Discovery and removing under-performing titles from its streaming services in a bid to write off nearly $2 billion from its bottom line.
Scripted titles set to be removed from Hulu and Disney+ include FX’s Y: The Last Man, Pistol, Little Demon, Hulu-turned-Disney+ series Mysterious Benedict Society, Disney+’s Big Shot, The Mighty Ducks, Turner & Hooch, Willow and ABC-turned-Hulu comedy Maggie, as well as National Geographic’s The World According to Jeff Goldblum. In all, there are more than 30 shows that will be removed starting next week from the platforms in this first round of reductions. The titles, many of which are listed below, will vanish starting May 26. Sources say the programming could be made available elsewhere, like digital sell-through platforms, etc.

Though the CW is beginning to pivot much more heavily to reality fare, with “All American” as the only original scripted series on its fall 2023 lineup, the network has added three new scripted projects to its slate for 2024: “Joan,” “The Librarians: The Next Chapter” and “The Swarm.” Additionally, 2024 will see the premieres of unscripted series “Patti Stanger: Millionaire Matchmaking,” “The Force” and “The Great American Bakeover” (all working titles).
All newly announced series are currently in production.
“Joan” stars Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) as Joan Hannington, the notorious real-life jewel thief. Set in 1980s London, the series sees Joan as a devoted mother to her six-year-old daughter, Kelly, while trapped in a disastrous marriage with a violent criminal named Gary. When Gary goes on the run, Joan seizes the opportunity to adopt new identities and embark on a high-stakes journey to create a new life for herself and Kelly.

Conan O’Brien is back in business with Warner Bros. Discovery.
The former late night host has set Conan O’Brien Must Go, a four-episode international travel series that sees him return to the conglomerate after Conan signed off in 2021 following an 11-year run.
The new series, which is already in production, will see O’Brien travel across the globe to visit new people he has met through his podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan.
“My fans around the globe never asked me to visit them, so I did,” O’Brien said in a cheeky statement announcing the series Wednesday. The project was formally unveiled during Warner Bros. Discovery’s upfront presentation — where he was a staple during the company’s former Turner presentations that predated the Warner Bros.-Discovery merger. O’Brien’s Conaco will produce the series, with his longtime exec producer Jeff Ross also attached.

According to Kathleen Turner’s former agent, working with John Waters could have sunk her career.
Turner starred in Waters’ 1994 satirical film “Serial Mom” and beat out Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, and Roseanne Barr for the lead role. However, Turner was warned against collaborating with the “B-movie director” due to its perceived effects on her career.
“My agents and all the other people around were like, ‘No, you can’t do that. You can’t work with John Waters. He’s a B-movie director, and you don’t do B-movies. It’ll ruin your career,'” Turner recalled to Vulture about her former team telling her. “Which of course set my back up.”
Waters sent Turner the script, which she said she “of course” read after seeing “Cry-Baby.”
“I got to the point where she sticks the poker in and pulls out the guy’s liver, and I went, ‘No!

More often than not, the privileged ones of societal hierarchy use their nefarious instruments to keep their status quo intact and to do so, they incriminate the hapless downtrodden ones. The sixth episode of the CW’s Gotham Knights reflects on that aspect, as the titular team of amateur crime fighters learn that they weren’t the only victims of the Court of Owl’s conspiracies. In the previous episode, we saw Harvey Dent gradually sinking inside the quicksand of the Court’s schemes, and the team recovered the ledgers of the McKillen crime family, which can help them prove the Court’s involvement in Gotham’s corruption as well as clear their names in the process.

Ed Sheeran is opening up about his unseen journey of loss in a new four-part docuseries, “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All.”
The series, which premieres May 3 on Disney+, centers on both the singer-songwriter’s unlikely rise to fame as well as the personal matters of love and loss that inspire his chart-topping music. “Everything in my life sort of got so much better once Cherry got into it,” the artist says of his wife in the trailer released Monday. “Now, I’ve got[ten] married, and I’m a dad who has two daughters.”
What Sheeran identifies as a “peak” quickly went downhill as Cherry faced health problems and his best friend Jamal Edwards, who the pop singer has previously credited with launching his career, passed away suddenly.
“You guys said you want to make a documentary, and I went, ‘yeah, and it should be me in the studio...

The Challenge: USA kicked off its inaugural season in July 2022, which invited CBS reality TV stars to compete as the flagship usually only includes MTV personalities. Former Big Brother houseguests, including two-time finalist Enzo Palumbo, season 20’s Angela Rummans, who won five competitions, David Alexander (BB21), and season 23’s Alyssa Lopez and Derek Xiao, as well as popular The Cookout members Kyland Young, Azah Awasum, Tiffany Mitchell, and winner Xavier Prather competed. Although the USA appeared to have potential, the season flamed out in the finals when nearly all the contestants couldn’t figure out a sudoku puzzle, causing them to quit. Regardless, it’s rumored the show will return with a second season, and these Big Brother 24 houseguests should compete.

Things are looking a little different at Nonnatus House. A new season of Call the Midwife premieres March 19 on PBS, and once again, change is in the air in Poplar. The CW’s Gotham Knights wasted no time throwing us into a shocking mystery, one that will see the scions of Batman’s most notorious foes — and no less than Bruce Wayne’s adopted son — attempt to clear their names.

Gotham Knights rises on The CW tonight and while the Arrowverse is no longer with us — nor is Batman, in this case — DC Comics fans do (finally) have something to cheer for. Along with the fabulous Superman & Lois, which precedes it by an hour, this latest entry into SuperTV is a fun ride through familiar territory with a new twist. And we’re into it. Pulling in deep cuts from the comics, Knights centers on Turner Hayes, the adopted son of Bruce Wayne. Just don’t expect a billionaire playboy redux. “He’s nice,” offers Oscar Morgan, the instantly likable British actor behind the scion of Wayne-funded privilege. “He wants to be liked by anyone that will like him really, and he’s well-intentioned.” Admitting that the loner Turner “definitely needs to be ...

The Batman is dead. Long live … his previously unseen adopted son?
That’s the premise behind “Gotham Knights,” the CW’s latest (and last?) DC Comics-based TV series, potentially putting the pin in a remarkable 18-year run encompassing everything from “Smallville” to the expansive “Arrowverse” and the still-airing (for now) “Superman & Lois.” If this is indeed the end, it feels like a sad, destined-to-be-ignored footnote rather than a triumphant farewell.
Of course, the Dark Knight has always been a particularly sparkly gem in the DC crown, which probably accounts for why his solo exploits remain the dominion of feature films, leaving various television offerings to dig and scrape in the corners and crevices of the Batman mythos for storytelling opportunities. Just in the last 10 years we’ve gotten Batman’s city before Batman (Fox’s “Gotham”), Batman’s butler before Batman (Starz/HBO Max’s “Pennyworth”), Batman’s...
