- He was the governor of Maryland from 2007 to 2015. He was the mayor of Baltimore, Maryland from 1999 to 2007. He was a councilman on the Baltimore City Council representing the 3rd district from 1991 to 1999.

- Frontman for the Irish rock band "O'Malley's March." The band has released three albums ("Celtic Fury," "The Boys March at Dawn," and "Wait for Me"). Though it is predominantly a local band, the band has played in Dublin in 2004 and at the White House in 2012.
