- Writer
Naya Elle James is a producer and writer who shares real life experiences through books, essays, TV and film. She believes that stories have the power to heal us, making what's personal, communal, and returning us to hope.
On a Saturday morning in 2012, over freshly baked scones at Deus Ex Machina in Venice, Naya met Jeff Gordon, owner of L.A.-based screenwriting school Writer's Bootcamp, and agreed to try his introductory screenwriting class. After working through her first script, an adaptation of an unfinished memoir, Naya began script doctoring for Ultramedia, developing her craft as a writer and then producer.
Today, Naya works side by side with her writing partners to create character-driven romantic dramas and comedies that explore such themes as love that feels like a calling and the nature of impossible choice. She also writes regularly about parenting, self-care, and teen mental health for family-focused publications.
