Broadcast and cable networks have news teams in place in Ukraine as attention focuses on the possibility of an invasion, perhaps as soon as this week.
President Joe Biden will deliver remarks on the situation at the White House on Tuesday.
While Russian President Vladimir Putin said that they were continuing to negotiate, and there were claims of a pullback for some troops, there also were reports of skepticism among NATO allies.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday that the U.S. was “temporarily relocating” Embassy operations in Kyiv to Lviv “due to the dramatic acceleration in the buildup of Russian forces.”
In addition to having teams in Washington focused on the escalating crisis, networks have correspondents on the ground in Ukraine, in some cases adding reporters. CNN’s Erin Burnett anchored her show, Erin Burnett OutFront, from Lviv on Monday.

Matthew Perry has confirmed the news – the Friends cast reunion is on. Perry posted a photo on Instagram Friday night of himself in a makeup chair, mouth askew. “Seconds before eating a makeup brush,” he joked. “Not to mention reuniting with my Friends.” The photo was quickly taken down, but the damage was done, as fans rejoiced at the apparent good news. Several fans captured screen shots of the post and it spread virally after that.
Deadline earlier reported that the Friends reunion special, one of the most high-profile TV casualties of the Covid-19 pandemic, is being taped this week. The team is shooting at the comedy’s original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank.

Three Thai Navy SEALs and an army doctor have made it out of the flooded Tham Luang Cave where earlier they’d successfully rescued 12 boys and a soccer coach, bringing an end to a terrifying 18-day ordeal that was, at least for the last week or so, a cable news media event that challenged every latest Trump scandal for airtime.
