AnnaSophia Robb did not do all of her surfing in the 2011 American biographical drama film Soul Surfer. While she performed some of the surfing scenes in the film, Bethany Hamilton performed the more challenging post-shark attack surfing scenes for authenticity and to showcase her incredible skill.

The Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg-produced World War II series Masters of the Air has something that its predecessors did not: a bona fide movie star in the lead role. Thanks to his award-winning role as the King himself in 2022’s Elvis, Austin Butler has burst onto the scene as a major acting force. And he brings that gravitas with him to portray Gale “Buck” Cleven in the nine-episode Apple TV+ series about WWII bomber pilots.
Cleven is the perfect role for the brooding Butler – a quiet, confident figure that the rest of his crew looks up to. Cleven also serves as the culmination of years of work for the actor just as much as the Elvis Presley gig did. As a teen, Butler made the Disney and Nickelodeon TV show circuit via a mix of one-off and recurring roles on Zoey 101, Hannah Montana, iCarly, Wizards of Waverly Place,...

Sarah Jessica Parker Once Shared She Was Against Blake Lively’s Potential ‘Sex and the City’ Prequel
Sarah Jessica Parker has recently returned to the Sex and the City franchise with the Max sequel And Just Like That. But years prior, there were talks of a potential prequel to the series starring Blake Lively.
Sarah Jessica Parker didn’t like the idea of a ‘Sex and the City’ prequel Sarah Jessica Parker | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Even after the Sex and the City series ended, the property itself continued to thrive. The television show spawned two successful theatrical releases, and soon afterwards there were rumblings of a prequel series being developed. But there weren’t too many Sex and the City alums that favored the idea. Sex and the City director Michael Patrick King, who had strong ties to the show, was firmly against the concept.
“The idea of going backwards and making [Carrie] less evolved … is something that I don’t even imagine doing,” King once told the Los Angeles Times.

The people simply can't wait for Greta Gerwig's "Barbie," which recently released its second trailer. On the latest "Saturday Night Live," the cast got in on the fun with a sketch parodying the trailer. Only this time, the doll line being adapted isn't Barbie, but American Girl.
For the uninitiated, American Girl was launched in 1986 by the Pleasant company. Doubling as both plaything and history lesson, each of the doll models comes with a unique name and backstory. They represent a particular point in American history, from the Revolutionary War up to the 20th century. These characters don't just span a wide timeframe, but also social strata and race too. To complement the dolls, a book series (with each character getting six entries) was published too.
Guest host Ana de Armas appears in the sketch as Josefina, a young Mexican girl living in Santa Fe during the American-Spanish War.

During Sex and the City’s illustrious run, we learned surprisingly little about the core four’s families. Sure, we learned a bit about Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes’ background. Still, Carrie Bradshaw and Samantha Jones’ pasts were mostly shrouded in mystery, especially any collegiate life they may have had. Believe it or not, it might not be that big of a mystery. We did learn where Carrie Bradshaw was accepted to college. Carrie was an Ivy League girl, or almost was, just like Miranda.

Édgar Ramírez will star in the second season of “Dr. Death,” Peacock announced Tuesday.
Ramírez will play Paolo Macchiarini, an Italian surgeon who became known for his research into innovative organ transplants, gaining the nickname “Miracle Man,” before accusations of research fraud and unethical experiments destroyed his career. The season will focus on the investigations from fellow researchers into Macchiarini’s surgeries, as well as his relationship with journalist Benita Alexander.

Not many actors can claim a breakthrough performance as impressive as that of Isabelle Fuhrman. In 2009, she took the horror world by storm as Esther, a sweet little Russian girl with a big secret. Orphan was a surprise hit thanks in large part to Fuhrman’s shockingly nuanced performance as an escaped murderer posing as an innocent child.
Fuhrman transitioned this notoriety into a coveted role in the high-profile adaptation of The Hunger Games where she plays another psychotic killer named Clove. Though she’s worked steadily since then, many of Fuhrman’s projects have flown under the radar of mainstream audiences. This month’s release of Orphan: First Kill, William Brent Bell’s prequel to the original film, sees the actress cleverly reprise the role that made her famous. Once again, she shines as Lena/Esther in a fantastically fun film destined to become a camp classic.
