“They’re Scared”: 5,000-Plus Demonstrators Rally in L.A. to Support Writers Strike, Pressure Studios
Over 5,000 writers and supporters descended on the mid-Wilshire neighborhood of Los Angeles on Wednesday to rally support during the eighth week of the Writers Guild of America labor stoppage.
The “WGA Strong” rally featured spirited and sometimes expletive-filled speeches from the likes of I’m a Virgo writer-director Boots Riley, WGA negotiating committee member Adam Conover and Teamsters Local 399 leader Lindsay Dougherty, as well as a musical performance from singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc (who pointedly sang, at one point, “I Need a Dollar”). The overall message to writers, who are now 51 days into their first strike in 15 years? Hollywood labor is behind you.
The event also served as something of a flex to the industry. “We are out here today to tell the companies how strong we are,” said WGA negotiating committee member Conover (The G Word), who acted as the rally’s emcee. He added, “Carol [Lombardini, the president of the AMPTP] didn’t plan for how strong we are.

In the previous episode of The Clearing, Adrienne’s transformative journey and the emergence of her cult, The Kindred, took center stage. However, in this episode, the narrative shifted back to the timeline where Freya Haywood, aka Amy, was determined to uncover the truth behind Carrie Anderson’s kidnapping. Freya had harbored reservations about her brother Anton, and her suspicions intensified when she noticed a van similar to the one associated with the abduction of Carrie. However, Inspector Joe Saad was initially reluctant to believe Anton could be involved. In this episode, Amy relentlessly searched for concrete evidence regarding the true kidnapper’s identity, but her quest for the truth could be a perilous journey for her as well as her family.
Spoilers Ahead
How Did Adrienne Get The Bail?
Episode 6 opened with the detectives executing a clever strategy to apprehend Adrienne, who was hiding in France under the alias Aida Smith.

The documentary premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes.
The Mother Of All Lies from Moroccan filmmaker Asmae El Moudir has scooped the top prize at the 70th Sydney Film Festival (Sff).
The documentary drama won the Sydney Film Prize, which includes a cash award of A$60,000 and was praised by jury head Anurag Kashyap for “the courage of choosing a theme perhaps wilfully obliterated from public memory”.
The film explores a 1981 massacre in Casablanca through interviews and interactions with the director’s family and former neighbours, using tiny models of them and a miniature set of their former street made by her father.

Plot: An emotional and psychological thriller that follows the nightmares of a cult and a woman who’s forced to face the demons from her past in order to stop the kidnapping and coercion of innocent children in the future. The series burrows under the skin and inside the mind, blurring the lines between past and present, reality and nightmare in a truly unnerving way.

For Kindred‘s Dana James, breaking her family’s generational trauma meant looking to the past for answers.
The finale of Hulu’s series opened with a flashback to Brooklyn in 1989 that revealed Dana’s mother Olivia had doubts about being a mom after her own mother walked out on her. But if Olivia’s disappearance years later were any indication, her mother probably didn’t just up and leave. She may have gotten stuck in the past like Olivia: an awful future that also awaited Dana if she couldn’t figure out how to stop the jumps.
