Director, producer, screenwriter and visual effects supervisor Shahriar (Shah) Rahman knows artistry has no bounds. He has immersed himself in the entertainment industry for over fifteen years and has cultivated his many talents to not only conceive a visionary piece but also to construct a detailed blueprint and implement it with an in-depth understanding of all stages of production.
His technical creativity and prowess as a visual effects and motion graphic artist can be seen on Sundance-awarded films, Emmy-winning TV shows and Hollywood blockbusters. As a VFX Supervisor, he helped achieve the visions of shows such as Justin Chon's Gook, Shonda Rhimes' Scandal, Graham Yost's Justified and Marta Kauffman's Grace and Frankie, among others. His aesthetic sensibilities are further displayed in his work as a colorist and editor in commercials for high-profile brands such as Pepsi, Samsung, BMW and Nike, and music videos for A-list talent, including Britney Spears, Eminem, Bruno Mars, Avicii, Carrie Underwood, and The Weeknd.
Shah co-directed his first feature, an urban drama based on a true story, in 2008. The film went on to be selected and premiered at the South Asian International Film Festival. The film was purchased by Channel I and was viewed by millions around the world during prime holiday broadcast slots. In 2009, Shah directed and edited a music video, He is Not a Kid, or "Pola to Noi" in Bangla, which was initially banned from broadcast in Bangladesh for two years. In 2012, a 4-minute spot which he directed was the selected winner in the short film category at the Discover LA filmmaking contest.
Shah's many talents allow him to cultivate visionary works with a thorough understanding of production, post-production, and the limits of both practical and visual effects. He is an artist in many forms ready to create an enigmatic piece whether it be film, advertisement or music video.
