- In the early 1970s, Wiklund developed severe dental problems that were later diagnosed as "Oral Galvanism". The cause of this temporarily controversial condition is said to be found in the amalgam fillings.
- In addition to his work as a car mechanic, Wiklund sang in various local orchestras in Luleå. He made his debut as a 17-year-old in 1952 with the orchestra Swingers, and the following year Gunnar Wiklund recorded his first record, with the song "Dä 'ä' love".
