There’s no shortage of brilliant detectives in novels, film and television, but one of the greatest — or at least the one with the fanciest facial hair — is Hercule Poirot. The Belgian investigator, created by Agatha Christie, has appeared 33 novels, more than 50 short stories, and has been played by a variety of iconic actors.
But for whatever reason, Poirot has only sporadically appeared on the big screen, with many of his earliest movie appearances being lost to time, while some of his other noteworthy adventures were rewritten as vehicles for Christie’s other beloved creation, Miss Marple.
Here we take a look at the various theatrically-released adventures of Hercule Poirot, from the 1930s to today, and see which of his mysteries were truly worth solving.

Vida Blue, a hard-throwing left-hander who became one of baseball’s biggest draws in the early 1970s and helped lead the brash Oakland Athletics to three straight World Series titles, has died. He was 73.
The A’s said Blue died Saturday but didn’t give a cause of death.
“I remember watching a 19-year-old phenom dominate baseball, and at the same time alter my life,” Dave Stewart,” a four-time 20-game winner for the A’s a generation later, wrote on Twitter. “There are no words for what you have meant to me and so many others.”
Blue was voted the 1971 American League Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player after going 24-8 with a 1.82 Era and 301 strikeouts with 24 complete games, eight of them shutouts. He was 22 at when he won Mvp, the youngest to win the award. He remains among just 11 pitchers to win Mvp and Cy Young in the same year.

Exclusive: Former CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl and Cannonball Productions principals Sean Hanish and Paul Jaconi-Biery have completed principal photography on a documentary series about the famed 1982 Milwaukee Brewers.
Just a Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers chronicles the ups-and-downs of an almost championship season. The story is about the love affair between a down-on-its-luck blue collar city, and a perfectly matched blue-collar team — one that continues to this day, 40 years later.
The ’82 Brewers, known affectionately as “Harvey’s Wallbangers,” made it all the way to Game 7 of the World Series, only to lose. But then, in their lowest moment, the city threw the Brewers a parade that rivaled any celebration thrown for a team winning the World Series.
“They say never meet your heroes because they are bound to disappoint. But I can attest, these ballplayers deliver insights, recollections and stories about the magical summer of...

Let’s start with the lighter side of this week’s episode.
I would have gladly volunteered to be Barney’s partner for the Regional Doubles Laser Tag Tournament in an abandoned Jc Penny store out in Poughkeepsie, but that’s just me. Loved when he tried to steal the model vagina from the doctor’s office.
Meanwhile, Robin and her glasses were back at World Wide News, but so was Sandy Rivers, Robin’s old co-host and Ted’s nemesis. Sandy Rivers struck me as more of a porn star name, but then again so would Robin Sparkles. So those canceled each other out, I guess. Score one for Sandy, though, for giving Robin the nickname "Sche-poopy."
I also loved the montage of all Robin’s embarrassing moments on television that Sandy uncovered. Well, that Greg uncovered is more accurate. What a tremendous tribute to our favorite newscaster and Canadian Teen Beat idol.

My favorite movie of all time is the Redford/Newman grifter classic The Sting. I saw it for the first time in junior high and have probably watched it twenty times since. I love every single frame of it. And despite Redford and Newman being just about as cool as any two people have ever been on screen, my favorite character was Kid Twist. Twist, you'll remember, was the first guy Paul Newman went after to plan the con. He was dapper, charming, and rocked a Rollie Fingers mustache like nobody could handle. The scene where Redford brings Robert Shaw to the Western Union office that Kid Twist commandeers by pretending to be a painter is a comic gem and a classic of the con/heist genre. It's just so fun.
