Television fans will know that Black Mirror is one of the most disturbing and popular series ever to be made. With six seasons and an interactive movie, Bandersnatch, Charlie Booker’s anthology series has become a classic of modern television. Recently, it has been confirmed that the upcoming Season 7 of Black Mirror will be released in 2025 on Netflix.
The series’ first five seasons were generally received with critical acclaim and were a commercial success, while the Bandersnatch movie received more ambivalent reviews, with critics either loving it or hating it. Season 6 received mostly mixed reviews, but regardless of that, the hype for the upcoming seventh season is still enormous, as the official Twitter account of the series released the following teaser:

Technology is developing at such a rapid pace. Inventions that were merely concepts in science fiction a few decades ago are now accessible to the general public. In some cases, maybe it was for the best that these innovations remained fictional. Black Mirror explores the frightening possibilities of what might happen if technology is regarded above human life.
The anthology series created by Charlie Booker will be returning to Netflix for its sixth season this June, and judging by the trailer, it looks a lot better than their original proposal for season six when they rolled out bus stop ads with mirrors and the tagline “6th Season. Live Now, everywhere” during the early months of the pandemic. In anticipation for the new batch of episodes, we'll be examining five times Black Mirror has predicted the future over the past dozen years, sometimes more accurately than others. Let's just hope this...

“It’s like something out of ‘Black Mirror,’ right?”
You may have said such a thing while reading about (or tinkering around with) AI tools like ChatGPT. If so, you weren’t the only one. “Black Mirror” series creator Charlie Booker clearly thought something similar, and in a new interview with the British film magazine Empire he confessed he was curious enough to see what would happen if he instructed the new technology to “generate a ‘Black Mirror’ episode.”
The results, he said, weren’t too impressive.
“t comes up with something that, at first glance, reads plausibly, but on second glance, is shit. Because all it’s done is look up all the synopsis of ‘Black Mirror’ episodes, and sort of mush them together. Then if you dig a bit more deeply you go, ‘Oh, there’s not actually any real original thought here.’”

Black Mirror — once a Twilight Zone–like series presenting a twisted, alternate reality — mostly resembles real life in the official teaser for Season Six. And like past seasons, pretty much everyone is stressed out and trying to make sense of the world. “What the fuck is this?” a character asks. “How the fuck is this?” The answers will materialize this June when the show returns to Netflix.

No modern show makes you question your entire existence like "Black Mirror." Utilizing advanced technology ranging from neural implants to social metrics, the show, created by Charlie Booker, tells honest stories mostly about the destruction of humanity. Hopeful and light episodes are few and far between, but audiences nevertheless plug into its swirling cynicism and nihilism. Despite the real world not being much better, "Black Mirror" offers an escape and a chance to live vicariously through beloved characters and find comfort in the safety of our homes.

Black Mirror is known for taking the real-world technology we unquestionably take for granted – social media, dating apps, surveillance – and skewing it to a slightly fantastical degree. Following in line with the “what if our world but a little different” atmosphere of the show, Black Mirror Season Five, released this week on Netflix, features Miley Cyrus in the episode “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too” as a world-renowned pop star, singing Top 40 versions of what are recognizably Nine Inch Nails songs.

Black Mirror Season 5 Episode 3
It’s fitting the Miley Cyrus was chosen to embody trapped pop sensation Ashely O in Black Mirror Season 5’s “Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too,” as her own Disney-fied past is likely filled with similar stories of content restriction and yearning to stretch her art to darker or more adult places. However, Cyrus is also perfectly cast because the plot of “Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too” is eerily similar to the sort of feature one could imagine Cyrus starring in back when she was under Mickey Mouse’s thumb.
Remove some of the curse words and drug content and slap a zanier score on top, and it’s not hard to imagine this exact story as the basis...

She (Ali Wong) is a celebrity chef. He (Randall Park) is a musician who works for his dad. They were childhood pals and hooked up in high school, then they meet again, and they’re from two totally different worlds now, but do you think that when they reconnect an old spark turns into a rom-com-ready flame?...

Lille, France — Few festival heads are so ready to plunge into questions such as what their lineup suggests about contemporary drama series production as Series Mania’s director general Laurence Herszberg and Frédéric Lavigne. Series Mania was one of Europe’s first TV festivals to push drama series an art-form. Ten years later, it’s still a major focus of conversation with them. Variety chatted to both on the significance of this year’s lineup.
Do you see any trends in this year’s Series Mania selection?
Yes! There are emphases. Migrants and immigration is one major trend, which is interesting because it allow for multiple styles, to be approachedin a funny or dramatic way, or to focus on the lives of the people. It’s a worldwide concern, which is good. Then dystopia is also a major trend. We could say that this owes a lot to Charlie Booker,...

Like a murderous animatronic dog dead set on wiping out the human race, it seems Black Mirror wants to wipe out what little sanity I have left at the end of 2018.
Charlie Booker's critically acclaimed sci-fi series is returning for season five sometime this month, presumably, given when season four dropped on Netflix (December 2017). And although we know that Miley Cyrus will have a role in the season, and that one episode might be an interactive choose-your-own-adventure-style setup, there hasn't been much else to go off of, due to the secrecy that usually shrouds the series . . . until now.
Users have discovered that when you search "Bandersnatch" on Netflix, you see the title A Netflix Film: Black Mirror Bandersnatch, accompanied by what looks like a loading screen as the film art.
When you click on the title, it opens an image that features stills of other Black Mirror episodes on a bank of monitors,...

A version of this story about Cristin Milioti first appeared in the Miniseries/Movies issue of TheWrap’s Emmy magazine.
Charlie Booker’s anthology series “Black Mirror” covers a broad range of styles and subjects over the course of a typical season, but Cristin Milioti was attracted to the “USS Callister” episode because it covers a big range in a single hour.
The episode starts out as the story of Nanette, a mild-mannered coder who is hired at a tech firm with a socially awkward founder (Jesse Plemons) who is dismissed or even derided by the rest of the company.
But in a classic “Black Mirror” twist, it shifts from an indie office drama to a tense adventure in a virtual “Star Trek”-style world where Plemons’ character reigns as an evil Captain Kirk of sorts, trapping his hapless employees in an environment where they have to indulge his every whim or suffer gruesome fates.
