Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante and Butcher Babies singer Carla Harvey got engaged on Saturday (January 27th) while attending U2’s show at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The two shared the happy news via their respective Instagram accounts.
Benante, who also plays drums in the revamped Pantera lineup, posted pictures of the special moment, including a silhouetted image of the metal couple in the audience as Bono and company performed behind them. Another photo shows Harvey with a ring on her left hand.

Type O Negative’s seminal album Bloody Kisses turned 30 this year, and Z2 Comics is celebrating the occasion with a graphic novel and picture-disc vinyl reissue.
The graphic novel will feature 12 stories based on songs from what is widely considered the ultimate gothic metal album. The book includes art and stories from contributors Andy Biersack (Black Veil Brides), Carla Harvey (Butcher Babies), Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), and Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory), and more. A release is set for spring 2024.
“Type O Negative is one of those rare bands that created a musical genre by their very existence, and Bloody Kisses is one of those unexpected glorious releases that flipped the table of what was expected from hard rock and metal bands when it came out,” commented editor-in-chief Rantz Hoseley via a press release. “Thirty years later, there’s no band that can go head to head with what they accomplished with that album,...

Being somebody who attends a great deal of conventions in southeast Michigan each year, I’m understandably thrilled to see whenever another new show joins the club. Really, no matter if it’s as big as Motor City Comic Con or as small as Redford Comic Con, I’m going to do my best to show up.
That said, Astronomicon was the latest event to catch my eye. Essentially being a pop culture extravaganza that blends various types of fandom, I could tell that it was going to be something special just by how well the organizers interacted with fans on social media and promoted the thing. And, as expected, it lived up to expectations because every aspect that I was able to witness was pulled off rather well.
In addition to boasting a solid presence by vendors, crafters and local comic book talent like the folks from Source Point Press and Brian E.

I try to never make an interview article about myself, but I had to mention just how I discovered Heidi Shepherd, Carla Harvey and their kick ass metal band, Butcher Babies.
Last August, I was in the pit at the Mayhem Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY. I was waiting to see Children of Bodom, but there was one other act scheduled before Alexi Laiho and his Finnish brethren took the stage. A group called Butcher Babies. Fronted by two incredibly beautiful and awesomely aggressive ladies, Butcher Babies absolutely slayed the crowd in Saratoga and I knew I had to catch up with this band and interview them as the Dread Central readership would certainly fall in love with them as I did.
Although I wasn't able to coordinate a meeting at Rock and Shock 2013 where the band played, I was finally able to catch up with the two lead singers...
