“The Price of Glee”, a three-part limited documentary, is pulling back the curtain on the cultural phenomenon that was “Glee”.
When the high school musical series from Ryan Murphy first debuted in 2009, it quickly broke down barriers, set records and changed the music and TV industry. It also made super stars out of its ensemble cast, including Cory Monteith, Mark Salling and Naya Rivera, whose lives were eventually cut short in very different, very tragic ways, leaving a dark cloud looming over the series that became rocked by scandals, gossip and more.
In the series, which premieres Monday, Jan. 16 on ID and discovery+, relatives and friends of the “Glee” cast, including Rivera’s father George and Monteith’s roommate Justin Neill, as well as those who were on set or covered the production during its six-season run, are speaking out.

Lea Michele is responding to the revelations of past on-set harassment made by a number of her former colleagues and attempting to clarify how that behavior will not follow her into her work on Funny Girl.
Speaking to The New York Times for a profile published Thursday ahead of her Sept. 6 debut in the Broadway musical revival, the Glee and Spring Awakening star offered her first response beyond her 2020 apology statement following online accusations of racism and bullying made by Michele’s former colleagues, including Glee co-star Heather Morrison, Samantha Marie Ware and others.
At least one of those colleagues, All Rise and Doom Patrol actress Ware, responded publicly to Michele’s Funny Girl casting, writing in a now-deleted tweet, “Yes, Broadway upholds whiteness.” Michele’s casting was also mired in controversy around the nature of her taking over the role from Beanie Feldstein,...

Lea Michele has addressed those rumours about her past professional behaviour.
In 2020, Michele’s former “Glee” co-star Samantha Marie Ware accused her of making her first TV gig “a living hell,” describing “traumatic microaggressions” that had her reconsidering a Hollywood career.
More cast members on “Glee”, including Alex Newell, Amber Riley, and Dabier Snell, tweeted their support of Ware’s comments at the time.
Michele, who will now take on the role of Fanny Brice in Broadway’s “Funny Girl”, replacing Beanie Feldstein, told the New York Times in a new interview that she’s since undergone an “intense time of reflection” about her conduct at work.
“I really understand the importance and value now of being a leader,” she shared. “It means not only going and doing a good job when the camera’s rolling, but also when it’s not. And that wasn’t always the most important thing for me.

In what is becoming a daily occurence, another Glee alum is speaking out about Lea Michele.
Heather Morris, who starred on all six seasons of the Fox drama alongside Michele, has opened up about the actress being "unpleasant to work with."
"Let me be very clear, Hate is a disease in America that we are trying to cure, so I would never wish for hate to be spread to anyone else," Morris said, hours after Michele issued an apology following multiple former co-workers coming forward about working with her.
"With that said, was she unpleasant to work with? Very much so; for Lea to treat others with the disrespect that she did for as long as she did, I believe she Should be called out."
Morris reiterated, however, that "it's also on us because to allow it to go on for so long without speaking out is something else we're...

Lea Michele has issued an apology after her former “Glee” co-star Samantha Marie Ware accused Michele of making her life “a living hell” on set, a comment that was backed up by some other actors of color who are also alums of the Ryan Murphy Fox series.
“One of the most important lessons of the last few weeks is that we need to take the time to listen and learn about other people’s perspectives and any role we have played or anything we can do to help address the injustices that they face,” Michele wrote in a lengthy statement posted to Instagram Wednesday. “When I tweeted the other day, it was meant to be a show of support for our friends and neighbors and communities of color during this really difficult time, but the responses I received to what I posted have made me also focus specifically on how...

Lea Michele is being accused by former co-stars of mistreatment toward people of color on the set of “Glee.”
After the “Glee” star posted a message in support of George Floyd on Twitter, her former castmate, Samantha Marie Ware, responded with disbelief that Michele could support the Black Lives Matter movement when, to her memory, Michele had made her time on set of the musical series “a living hell.”
Ware played student singer Jane Hayward on the show’s sixth season, during which time she says Michele treated her so poorly that she had to “question a career in Hollywood.” One of those instances, Ware says, involved telling other castmates that if she got the chance, Michele would “s–t in my wig.”

“Glee” actor Samantha Ware accused her former co-star Lea Michele of making the show a “living hell” due to “traumatic microaggressions.”
On Monday night, Ware responded to a tweet from Michele, who had posted a message against the death of George Floyd with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
“George Floyd did not deserve this. This was not an isolated incident and it must end. #BlackLivesMatter,” Michele tweeted on Saturday.
Two days later, Ware quoted Michele’s tweet, claiming the “Glee” star told her she’d “s— in [her] wig” while on the show.
“Remember when you made my first television gig a living hell?!?! Cause I’ll never forget. I believe you told everyone that if you had the opportunity you would ‘s— in my wig!’ amongst other traumatic microaggressions that made me question a career in Hollywood,” Ware tweeted in all caps.
