It’s a remarkable tale of survival that takes the teenager - then known as Arshaluys - from the horrors of the Armenian Genocide and the murder of most of her family to the US, where she would go on to star in a silent film based on her own life and find herself reliving the trauma night after night thanks to a Hollywood machine that treated her more like a commodity than a person.
The film screens as part of the Baltic Competition at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) this week and has also recently been at documentary festival IDFA.
