Leopold Mozart was born on November 14, 1719 in Augsburg, Holy Roman Empire [now Bavaria, Germany]. He was married to Anna Maria Pertl. He died on May 28, 1787 in Salzburg, Prince-Archbishopric of Salzburg, Holy Roman Empire [now Salzburg, Austria].
Composer and an internationally-recognized instructor. His treatise on
violin instruction, "Violinschule" (1756), was translated into several
languages and became a standard text throughout Europe.
His wife and his mother shared the same name, Anna Maria.
Upon her death, Constanze Weber, whom Wolfgang married against
Leopold's wishes, was buried beside Leopold in Salzburg. Not
surprisingly, Constanze and Leopold did not get along.
