Dao Quang Phuc Vu is an independent filmmaker from Vietnam. Born and raised in Gia Lai - Kon Tum province, in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam, he embarked on his filmmaking journey in 2014 with a series of short films, music videos, and video clips.
In 2019, Vu began writing the script for his debut feature film, "Mien Ky Uc" (Realm of Reminiscence). Filming commenced in 2020, with the film set in Kon Tum province and featuring scenes shot in Ho Chi Minh City. After screening test screenings for audiences in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces, "Mien Ky Uc" received positive feedback for its cinematography and storytelling.
In 2021, Dao Phuc Quang Vu continued his independent filmmaking endeavors with "Vai Anh Em Tua Vao" (A Shoulder to Lean On). Made on an extremely low budget, the film's pre-production phase was completed within 20 days, and the entire filming process took just one month. The film was released on December 14, 2022, for test screenings at Touch Cinema and is currently available for viewing on YouTube.
Despite starting his filmmaking journey in 2020, director Dao Phuc Quang Vu has yet to receive any major film awards. However, his passion and dedication are truly commendable. In his hometown, filmmaking is often considered an unconventional and challenging pursuit. Nonetheless, audiences eagerly await the promising future of director Dao Phuc Quang Vu and his cinematic creations.
