Lionsgate-backed comedy The Goes Wrong Show has been renewed by the BBC for a second season.
The series, produced by Mum producer Big Talk Productions and Mischief Screen, is based on the latter’s eponymous play from the team behind Peter Pan Goes Wrong and A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong.
The first season followed the Cornley Drama Society undertaking another overly ambitious endeavour, held back by prolific over-actor Robert Grove, the screen-hogging Sandra Wilkinson and the artistically mistrusted Dennis Tyde. The half-hour episodes are described as “theatrical catastrophe”.
The Goes Wrong Show is written by and stars the original founding Mischief Theatre members including Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields alongside Nancy Zamit, Charlie Russell, Bryony Corrigan, Greg Tannahill, Dave Hearn and Chris Leask. It is filmed in front of a live studio audience.
Lionsgate sells internationally in a deal similar to its arrangement for Sharon Horgan-penned Motherland.

If it feels like we’ve been getting a lot of Agatha Christie-related news, it’s because we have. Of course, in the age of big superhero blockbusters, news of her cozy mysteries getting adapted is often welcome news. Regardless, this minor increase in news has actually been an intentional effort from Christie’s estate to work to bring her books to the big screen.
To make this happen, the Agatha Christie Estate employed 14 people out of its London-based office, and in 2013, they hired Wme, a Hollywood talent agency, to help them set up deals with Hollywood studios. Since then, the estate has inked three deals with 20th Century Fox. If you’ll recall, there are three that have hit the media most recently: the Murder on the Orient Express remake, which is set to be directed by and starring Cinderella and Thor director Kenneth Branagh, and the the...

Three months ago, soon after securing Angelina Jolie for a lead role, all signs pointed to Kenneth Branagh’s Murder On The Orient Express remake finally leaving the station, potentially entering active production before the year’s end. Jolie’s abrupt departure put paid to those early plans, and though Broadway star Leslie Odom Jr. has been linked, Branagh’s modern interpretation has largely fallen by the wayside.
With a November 2017 release date still in place, the message currently coming out of Fox is that Murder on the Orient Express is dormant, not dead. As a matter of fact, new findings unearthed by The Hollywood Reporter indicate that Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer are being considered as “names of interest.” It’s by no means a firm confirmation that either will board Kenneth Branagh’s gestating thriller though; neither Depp nor Pfeiffer have opened negotiations at the time of writing,...

Kenneth Branagh is directing and starring in a remake of the famous Agatha Christie murder mystery story Murder on the Orient Express, and although he once had Angelina Jolie in talks to play one of the passengers on board the deadly vehicle, the actress has since dropped out of the project. That's Ok, though, because a new piece in THR indicates that Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer, who worked together on the vampire comedy Dark Shadows a few years ago, are "names of interest" for the new movie, though they caution that neither actor has been officially offered a part...yet.

CBS is developing a "Marple," a crime drama TV series inspired by Agatha Christie's Miss Marple books.
There's a twist. In this version the elderly spinster who resides in the quaint pre-WW2 village of St. Mary Mead is gone, replaced by a modern day 38-year-old American woman who inherits her grandmother's bookstore. She soon realises that things in her small California town aren't what they seem, and begins working as a private investigator to get to the bottom of the town's mysteries.
David Wolstencroft, Hilary Strong and Christie's grandson Matthew Prichard will executive produce. Disney attempted a similar style project four years ago with Jennifer Garner slated to star in and produce, but that project was dropped and met with a vocal backlash.
Christie penned twelve Miss Marple books with each of the works having been adapted numerous times for the big and small screen - stories that include titles such as "4:50 from Paddington,...

Agatha Christie's novels could be adapted into modernised TV shows, says the company who owns the rights to the stories.
Acorn Productions has revealed plans to give the crime tales the "Sherlock treatment", following the success of the BBC's contemporary adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's detective novels.
Managing director Hilary Strong told Broadcast: "We are looking contemporary.
"We're in discussions at the moment about how we can do that. We can absolutely see the opportunity for bringing the plotlines into the modern day."
Sherlock has enjoyed great success since it started in 2010, with last month's third series finale pulling in 8.8 million viewers for BBC One.
The series - which is set in the modern day - has gathered a cult following and has spawned an official convention and a smartphone app.
BBC One has recently announced a traditional adaptation of Christie's books The Secret Adversary and N or M.
