- Alongside Offensive-Defense partner Viacheslav Fetisov, Alexei was the defensive powerhouse of the infamous and unstoppable KLM line in Soviet Hockey of the 1980's.
- As a player Alexei has 2 Gold Olympic Medals (1984/1988) and 1 Silver Olympic Medal (1980) for The Soviet Union. Alexei also has a Silver Olympic Medal as General Manager of Team Russia in 1998.
- Alexei was on the NHL Western All-Star team in 1994!
- Alexei was the Founder/Head Coach of the Admirals Youth Hockey Organization in the New Jersey / New York Area, from 1998 - 2008. As well as running hockey development clinics and summer camps for all ages and skill levels, with ex and current Russian NHL/KHL players dropping by from time to time.
- In July 2010 Alexei was named the Vice President of the CSKA Hockey Club of the (KHL) in Moscow. This is his personal return to his past, CSKA is the post-soviet era name of the Central Red Army hockey club, which represented the entire Soviet Union in all international play.
- Alexei played in the "Hockey On Red Square" commemorative game celebrating the birth of Russian hockey and the Great Five, consisting of Vyacheslav Fetisov, Alexei Kasatonov, Igor Larionov, Vladimir Krutov and Sergei Makarov, along with renowned goalkeeper Vladislav Tretyak in Moscow on December 11 2006.
