A car crash interview with a delusional prince, a new series adaptation featuring Patricia Highsmith’s most infamous creation, the second part of Zack Snyder’s pricey space opera and a paranormal detective show set within Neil Gaiman’s celebrated Sandman universe are among the big titles hitting Netflix in April.
Debuting April 4 is Ripley, Netflix’s glossy new take on Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. Fresh from the critical acclaim he received for All of Us Strangers, Irish actor Andrew Scott will be inhabiting the role of Tom Ripley in an adaptation that will be screened in black-and-white. The eight-episode series also stars Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, and acting newcomer Eliot Sumner (son of Sting and Trudie Styler) as Freddie Miles. Written and directed by Oscar winner Steven Zaillian, Ripley was originally set for release on Showtime before it found a new home on Netflix.

With so many people across the world forced to stay indoors due to the Coronavirus pandemic, demand for Netflix has surged.
Never before has the online streamer been so popular, and to keep its subscribers entertained, the Big N has today rolled out a slew of exciting additions to its lineup of content.
That means from May 15th, Netflix subscribers will be able to access season 6 of Madam Secretary, all three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and sci-fi gem District 9. The latter initially debuted back in 2009 as Neill Blomkamp’s feature film, who would later go on to helm Elysium and Chappie. Blomkamp was then tipped to helm Alien 5 – a direct sequel to the classic Aliens – but sadly, despite a collection of awesome concept art emerging onto the interwebs, said continuation never came to pass and is “unlikely” to happen, after all.

The first viewership numbers for Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” have arrived courtesy of Nielsen. The gangster epic debuted on Netflix’s streaming platform November 27 and watched by 17.1 million unique Netflix viewers in the U.S. over its first week of availability. That number might not be at the level of the Sandra Bullock sensation “Bird Box” (26 million), but it’s an impressive start for an adult-driven, three-and-a-half-hour crime epic.
According to Nielsen’s report (via Variety): “‘The Irishman’ registered an average minute audience of 13.2 million in the U.S. over [its first week], less than ‘Bird Box’ (16.9 million) but higher than Netflix’s ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ (8.2 million)…On its Nov. 27 premiere date, ‘The Irishman’ brought in an average minute audience of nearly 2.6 million viewers and 3.9 million unique viewers in the U.S., per Nielsen. Here’s the best thing about “Magic for Humans”: Even if you’re completely convinced every trick that host Justin Willman does on camera is part of a pre-planned pact with “unsuspecting” passersby, you can still enjoy the show. If your belief is that onscreen magic is all somehow a scripted scam, Season 2 of this Netflix series still works on a beat-for-beat comedic level that’s one step ahead of your objections. Therein lies the fun. Regardless of which side of that illusion/laugh divide is the hook, these latest six episodes pick up right where the first batch left off.
Season 2 follows the same rough outline the first season did, with Willman giving a thematic overview of each episode from the comfort of a blank-walled studio. From there, it’s out to various remote Los Angeles locales to watch Willman perform sleight of hand and unveil elaborate surprises...

December is a month of surprises. Year-end gift-giving, best-of list making, various accomplishments being snuck under the wire before the calendar year comes to a close. To those, add “a Season 2 of ‘Magic for Humans'” to the collection.
The unscripted Netflix magic series, starring magician/comedian extraordinaire Justin Willman, will return for a new batch of episodes filled with random Angelenos taken aback by the show’s broad spectrum of unexpected tricks. This year, to build on last year’s Invisibility Challenge phenomenon, Willman is mixing some tried-and-true street magic segments with some larger scale magic selections.
Along the way, it looks like he’ll be making some stops at a Renaissance Faire, various L.A. city streets, parks, and transportation hubs, and even the Los Angeles Chargers practice facility. He’ll lose his head inside a wrestling rink. (Nice “Glow” Season 3 synergy!) For some reason, he’ll be balancing...

Usually when someone dies doing something, it’s a good idea not to try that thing. That has not stopped popular magician Dmc (nee Drummond Money-Coutts) from trying to succeed at some of his profession’s most dangerous magic tricks.
Netflix unveiled the first look at “Death by Magic,” an upcoming series in which Dmc attempts tricks that stymied magicians like Harry Houdini. Presumably he’s Ok (unless his continued social media presence is part of a very elaborate ruse), so he’s at least managed to not fall prey to his predecessor’s fate.
These attempts are updated versions of these classically perilous tricks, including spins on being buried alive and playing Russian roulette. Dmc’s pursuit takes him across a handful of different continents, looking into the cases of individual deadly magic stories. Recently, in his own words, Dmc described “Death by Magic” as “a tribute to those...

A funny thing started happening on the internet last week: People started convincing their family members that they were invisible.
Like an infinite number of primates eventually stumbling on Shakespeare, the 2018-era meme-iverse might have eventually stumbled on this new viral trend on its own. But it’s impossible not to trace this growing crop of living room videos to an episode of the Netflix show “Magic for Humans.”
In Episode 4, host Justin Willman leads a group of people in a Los Angeles park to help persuade a random passerby that no one can see him. There’s magic involved — Willman effectively disappears another guy who’s in on the experiment — but the trick only works because dozens of people play along.

Magic doesn’t come without patience. The payoff to a well-executed illusion doesn’t come without some sense of buildup or anticipation about what might be coming. “Magic for Humans,” the new six-part unscripted series hosted by Justin Willman, shows a vital appreciation for a comedic patience that takes the whole thing from a set of mild curiosities to a finely tuned exploration of what kind of magic can still command people’s attention.
Willman is seemingly the perfect magician/comedian hybrid prototype to pull off this kind of show, to help “Magic for Humans” exist in the perfect middle ground between comedy series and street magic special which can sustain a certain creative spark over the course of its six episodes. Also helpful is that each installment centers on a different universal theme. Some episodes center on love and companionship, others investigate guilt as a fundamental driving force for humanity.

Netflix has a new series about a street magician coming next week, and I'm pretty stoked about it. I don't even care if these tricks are simple camera tricks or clever editing, that bit with the spider was all I needed to see to give this show a shot when it debuts August 17! Check it out below and let us know if you feel the same:
From baffling people on the street to orchestrating elaborate tricks, Justin Willman blends good-natured magic with grown-up laughs. Magic For Humans comes to Netflix on August 17.

“Master of None” has been a boon for showcasing diversity with its inclusive casting and storylines that take a look at people who don’t always get screen time. From its Asian-American leading man Aziz Ansari and a slew of supporting cast who are people of color (and one who is gay) to the unique narratives that shift the spotlight to underserved groups, the Netflix series is also a standout for diversity behind the camera. It’s currently only one of a handful of TV series that can boast Asian-American creators.

Not many people would want to get wasted, tape themselves talking, and then show that video to their closest friends and family. But when you're mimicking the folks at "Drunk History" and explaining your "how we met" story for your wedding, then it's pretty much the most genius idea ever.
California couple Justin Willman and Jillian Sipkins took inspiration from the hilarious Comedy Central series for their own version of "Drunk History," filming a mini-movie that tells the tale of their multiple chance meetings before they started dating. On Sunday, Oct. 6, Food Network premieres the third season of the competitive reality show "Halloween Wars," which pits cake decorators, candy makers and pumpkin carvers against one another in search of the $50,000 prize.
Judges are pumpkin carver Robert Childers, cake artist Veronique de Groot and candy crafter Heather Hurlbert.
Host Justin Willman sees his role as a multifaceted one.
"I wear many hats," he says. "I'm the referee, I'm the cheerleader, I'm the emcee, I provide the color commentary, I've got to tease the tension. As you know, it is a war.
"It's serious business. As a performer, as an entertainer, I like to release the tension and put people at ease, but for good television, you've got to build on that tension.
"So I walk the line between the two -- crack people up when I need to, or let them wallow in their awkwardness, which makes great television.
