- Except for three performance films made for the Takarazuka Musical Revue, her performance as the widow Yoshiko in the 1943 classic, "The Life of Matsu the Untamed," was her only performance on film.
- Was a star of the famous all-female Takarazuka Musical Revue troupe, of which she was a member from 1929 until 1942, often playing male roles.
- Sonoi died of radiation sickness on August 21, 1945, from exposure to the atomic bomb at Hiroshima, where she was staying with her acting troupe, Sakura-tai (the Cherry Blossom Corps) on the morning of the attack. The bomb was dropped on August 6, the day of her 32nd birthday.
