- Bárbara Hulanicki was born in 1938 in Poland. She is a costume designer, known for Freelance (1970), O Bom Marido (1978) and Beyond Biba: A Portrait of Barbara Hulanicki (2009).

- She was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2012 Queen's New Years Honours List for her services to the Fashion Industry. She is the Founder of Biba.
- Her boutique "Biba" won the 1972 Bath Museum of Costume "Dress of the Year" award along with journalist Moira Keenan of The Sunday Times.
- Daughter of a Polish diplomat, she left Poland for England with her family at the outset of World War II. There she studied fashion design at Brighton School of Art.
- In 1963 she opened her boutique, "Biba", in London's Abingdon Road, closing in 1975.
- She and her family moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1976.
