With his latest film Like Crazy, Drake Doremus takes a stab at a truth that still stands regardless of how many times it is said – love is tough. Co-writing a screenplay with Ben York Jones, his fourth film (but arguable breakout) tells the story of a young couple (played by Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones) as they struggle with the many obstacles to a relationship, which include distance, fidelity, and time.
I sat down with Doremus to discuss what type of genre he thinks his film fits in to, his thoughts on the ending, what his favorite blockbuster movie is, and more.
Read Nick Allen’s scorecard review of Like Crazy (6/10)
One thing that has always interested me in films is texting, and how certain movies try to show the process of texting. Your technique was very natural.

While EA’s NHL franchise is arguably one of the best sport simulations around, and NBA Elite is looking to shine with its rebirth, both games can raise glasses to their cover athletes for the 2010-2011 seasons. NBA scoring champ Kevin Durant will be on the cover of NBA Elite 11. Stanley Cup champion and Conn Smyth Trophy winner Jonathan Toews will be the face of NHL 11.
As you know, EA has been fighting an uphill struggle to compete with 2K Sports’ NBA2K franchise. Hopefully, with the re-branding to NBA Elite and a fresh faced super star like Kevin Durant on the cover, they can make strides to regain their former glory. NBA Live ’03 was one of my favorite sports games, and while NBA 2K10 is very good, there is always room for improvement.
NHL 11 marks the first time in the series’ 18 year span when teammates have been on the cover in back-to-back years.

It's not often a 117-year-old icon hits the club scene -- but last night Lord Stanley's Cup cruised over to Hollywood for a night of mayhem with Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane . The Cup was the ultimate wingman, as the 21-year-old NHL star -- who scored the winning goal in the Stanley Cup finals -- hoisted it over his head on his way into Industry nightclub. We asked Kane if he was gonna score chicks...

With the World Cup underway, the weather behaving and both "The A-Team" and "The Karate Kid" waiting for us at the cinemas, it's going to be a delightfully laid back weekend. That's good, because we're still recovering from the awesomeness that was Sunday night's (June 16) 2010 MTV Movie Awards. (If you happened to miss any of Sunday's headline-grabbing, eye-popping, eyebrow-raising show, you can watch the whole thing on demand at your leisure.) But before you commit yourself to any of that, be sure to check out anything you might have missed this week on the MTV Newsroom Blog, including headlines about Lady Gaga, Green Day and Paramore.
» Lady Gaga pulled the curtain away from her "Alejandro" video, which launched a lot of debate about the various Madonna references in it.
» In dropping the new video, Gaga made her "Alejandro" into the most famous Alejandro in pop culture.

Despite their unlikely surge through the playoffs, the Philadelphia Flyers fell to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night (June 9) in the sixth game of the Stanley Cup finals. They did not go quietly, as they delivered a game-tying goal late in the third period and a few hard-hitting minutes of overtime before Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane blasted the puck between the legs of Flyers goaltender Michael Leighton from an absolutely impossible angle and tucked it into the back of the net for the final goal of the NHL season. It's been a crazy year for Kane, who was also on the team that represented the United States at the Winter Olympics, so he now has a Stanley Cup win to go with his silver medal.
Along with the rest of his teammates on the Blackhawks, Kane will be getting his name inscribed on the Stanley Cup, the most iconic trophy in all of professional sports.

Chicago Blackhawk hockey player Patrick Kane got into big trouble this week when some shirtless Party in a Limo photos hit the Web.
The controversial photos reveal the top secret techniques Kane and three other Blackhawk players had to endure to unwind after a big game Saturday in Vancouver.
You think it's easy to get rid of the built-up hockey aggression and tension? Well, clearly, it's not.
Kane had to explain the photos of himself, John Madden and Kris Versteeq (and some unidentified women).
The Dish Rag always wondered what went on inside limos. Now we know. And it's not pretty. But somehow we thought it would be classier.
This just looks like a drunken frat party on wheels.

When the 2010 U.S. Olympic hockey team was announced this past weekend at the N.H.L. Winter Classic, the theme was crystal clear: youth! Not that Team U.S.A. isn’t a serious medal contender, but it seems to be prepping a generation of leaders for 2014 and beyond. Here’s a look at the freshest of the fresh faces. Patrick Kane Age: 21. Hometown: Buffalo, New York. Team America’s youngest player is also one of its most dangerous. Kane leads the Chicago Blackhawks with 18 goals and 31 assists and is sixth in the N.H.L. in scoring. He’s presumably matured a little since last summer, when he and his cousin were arrested for beating up a 62-year-old cab driver over 20 cents.

EA Sports has just announced that 20-year-old scoring phenom Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks will be the new face of the NHL10. “It’s exciting to be on the cover of my favorite videogame after playing just my second year as a professional,” said Kane. “When you look back at some of the great players who have had this opportunity, it’s an honor to be a part of the EA Sports family and contribute to a game I’ve been playing for more than 10 years.” [flashvideo filename="videos/NHL10_COVER_ATHLETE_v09_CD.flv" width="490" height="276" /] Having emerged as one of the most skilled players in the NHL in just two seasons, Kane won the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year in 2008 and this year led the Blackhawks to the Western Conference Finals. The Chicago Blackhawks made a solid run into the NHL post-season this year, making it to the the semi-finals before falling to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday. In such a high pressure situation, how did the Blackhawks players calm their nerves before the big game? A little “Mario Kart,” of course!
Speaking with the Chicago Tribune, Blackhawks forward Colin Fraser was eager to talk about their gaming regimen. “We’ve been playing ‘Mario Kart’ the whole playoffs in the hotel.”
Patrick Kane, the Blackhawks’ 20-year-old phenom (and the cover athlete for EA’s NHL 10), has also gotten in on the action: “A lot of the guys say I’m the worst player, but that’s because they’ve been playing at home. Sometimes you play two or three hours and you don’t know where the time went.”
This isn’t the first time athletes have reported addiction to video games.
