The View’s Tuesday broadcast was one co-host short of a full panel.
At the top of the hour, just Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin sat at the show’s Hot Topics table, with Sara Haines clearly M.I.A. (She did, however, appear on Monday’s installment.) So why was Haines absent from the show? Goldberg answered that question at the top of the second segment.

Legendary journalist Barbara Walters came up with a novel idea in the late 1990s: to create a talk show consisting of a panel of different women from different backgrounds to discuss the stories of the day. It eventually became The View, which launched on ABC in August 1997. But although she was the mastermind behind The View‘s creation, Walters was reportedly unceremoniously showed the door, just as several co-hosts have experienced over the years.

Update, with video Unvaxed Jedediah Bila, a former co-host of ABC’s The View, visited her old show today – by remote – to plug a new book and make her case against vaccine mandates. At least the plug went unchallenged.
“Let’s discuss the elephant in the room,” said co-host Joy Behar, segueing away from the Dear Hartley memoir discussion. “You were supposed to join us in the studio weeks ago, but you couldn’t because ABC has a very strict policy that you can’t get into this building unless you’re fully vaccinated…and you made a conscious decision not to get vaccinated.”
Watch the segment below.
Behar then cited CDC figures indicating that vaccinated people are 10 times less likely to be hospitalized and 11 times less likely to die from Covid than unvaccinated people.

The President became the first Commander-in-Chief to take in services remotely, tuning in to the presentation by Rev. Robert Jeffress at the First Baptist Church in downtown Dallas.
The church has hosted past Presidents Woodrow Wilson, Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush in its 152-year history.

Let’s just say it’s too soon. Saturday Night Live‘s special “at home” quarantine edition, with cast members appearing remotely in pre-taped, Zoom-like, mostly solo bits, won’t exactly be remembered for contributing big laughs to a nation under lockdown. But we did get to see a few glimpses of where the stars live, so there’s that.
With guest appearances by Larry David as Bernie Sanders, an audio-only Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump and a Weekend Update that had Michael Che paying heartfelt and humorous tribute to his grandmother who died this week from Covid-19, the episode of the NBC sketch comedy was certainly of the moment. But as Tom Hanks, introducing the show, asked, “Will it make you laugh? Eh.”

With 46 million turkeys raised on inhumane factory farms and slaughtered for Thanksgiving across America, Farm Sanctuary, the organization dedicated to combating the abuses of animal agriculture and encouraging a new awareness and understanding about farm animals, is teaming up with Kaley Cuoco, Joaquin Phoenix, Kevin Smith and his daughter Harley Quinn Smith to encourage people to #BreakTheChain of old traditions by taking the turkey off their plate and sponsoring one instead through Farm Sanctuary’s 33rd annual Adopt a Turkey Project.

It's been quite the summer for Paula Faris! Months after the TV star left The View in July, Paula also officially said goodbye to her gig as Weekend Anchor of Good Morning America on Saturday, Sept. 29. During her last day on Gma, an emotional Paula broke into tears as her co-hosts played a look back at her best on-air moments from the last four years. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This has just been the honor of a lifetime, and I love you guys, and you’ll be seeing a lot of me," the 42-year-old said after the video played for ABC viewers. "I’ve loved this show. Former “Fox & Friends” co-host Abby Huntsman will join ABC’s “The View.”
Huntsman was named as the newest co-host for Season 22 on Tuesday, joining Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Meghan McCain on set. She will replace Sara Haines, who exited the ABC talk show to join Michael Strahan on the upcoming third hour of “Good Morning America,” called “Gma Day.”

Someone grab us tissues! Just a few weeks after Sara Haines announced she'd be leaving The View to join a new show called Gma Day with Michael Strahan, the TV host appeared on her final episode of the talk show — and it was one emotional goodbye, that's for sure. During the tearful program on Thursday, Aug. 2, Whoopi Golberg introduced a video of Sara's most memorable moments on The View. "I knew this one was meant to sit at the table since the first time she guest hosted — co-hosted on The View — and we wanted to show you a couple reasons why this breakup is so hard," the actress shared before it began. The clip was a collection of Sara's most memorable moments on the show — from her joking around with her fellow co-hosts to opening up about postpartum depression, viewers couldn't help but cry with the 40-year-old after looking back on all the good times.

Senator John McCain's daughter Meghan McCain has been conspicuously absent from The View in recent days. She claimed she had to take time out of her co-hosting gig to recover from food poisoning, but viewers seem convinced she's actually pregnant. "Sorry to have missed the show today," Meghan tweeted on March 27. "Sick in bed, will hopefully be back tomorrow." The next day, she wrote, "Sorry I'm still sick everyone, trying to get better Asap to get back to the show." And the day after that: "It's cold, rainy, and I'm still recovering from food poisoning."
