- Her career started on the stage in the 1920s but the late nights and unhealthy eating didn't appeal to her. In the 1930s she decided to leave it behind to become a fitness instructor.
- Throughout the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s she organised pageants and keep fit festivals across the UK, including the Central Council of Physical Recreation's Movement and Dance festivals at Wembley in London. She was a founding member, in 1956, of the Keep Fit Association.
- Her books on keep fit include "Stay Young Forever" (1963) and "Keep Fit Exercises for Everyone" (1983).
