David Gordon Green's 2022 slasher film "Halloween Ends" is an unusual entry in the series in many ways. In it, the vicious masked serial killer Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney) has been living in a sewer and stays out of the film's central action for the bulk of its running time. "Ends," instead, focuses largely on a character named Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), a man who, two years ago, accidentally killed the young boy he was babysitting. Green envisioned Corey's hometown town of Haddonfield, Illinois as a bitter and wounded place, full of spiteful, hurt people who cannot heal from the murderous damage that Michael caused way back in 1978, as well as his return in 2018. Every citizen is bitter, angry, and paranoid. Corey is bullied and picked on, unable to outlive his mistake.
When Corey wanders into Michael's sewer (he was fleeing bullies), he finds Michael and a strange transference occurs.

Update: Bloody Disgusting has edited their article to reflect the fact that it’s actually Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films that is shopping the Halloween rights around Hollywood. Trancas is the sole owner of the franchise’s television rights, while Miramax co-owns the film rights with them. Trancas is looking to get a Halloween TV series set up, and Miramax and A24 (which already has a Friday the 13th series called Crystal Lake in development) are currently in a bidding war over the rights to make the show.
The original article follows:
You didn’t really think Halloween Ends would be the final chapter in the Halloween franchise, did you? Jamie Lee Curtis may be finished coming back to play original heroine Laurie Strode for repeated confrontations with masked slasher Michael Myers, but we definitely haven’t seen the last of Myers himself. There won’t be any more Halloween sequels from director David Gordon Green. After making Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends, Green has moved on to the Exorcist franchise, and he intends to make a trilogy of sequels there as well. While we wait to see what’s next for the Halloween franchise, Best Buy has revealed that they’ll be selling an exclusive, limited edition 4K steelbook set of Green’s Halloween trilogy. The street date for this set is October 10th. You can take a look at the Best Buy listing Here.
ComicBook.com reports, “With less than 6,000 pieces made, each individually-numbered set includes a certificate of authenticity. The six-disc set collects all three films on 4K Uhd and Blu-ray, housed in collectible steelbooks in slipbox packaging, and comes complete with a digital copy code.“

About nine months ago, we heard that Michael Bay and Brad Fuller are reviving their production company Platinum Dunes at Universal – and now Deadline reports that one of the movies we’ll be getting from the revived Platinum Dunes is the supernatural horror film Lure, with Corin Hardy (The Nun) directing. Chris Bernier (Halloween Ends) is currently writing the screenplay.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that Lure is based on the haunting of the real-life King’s Tavern, considered to be the most haunted building in all of Mississippi, with one of its tenants being the murdered mistress of one of the tavern’s original owners.
I hadn’t heard of King’s Tavern before this announcement, but Wikipedia informs that the place is one of the oldest buildings in Natchez, Mississippi, as it was first build in 1769. It’s also considered to be...

Corin Hardy (The Nun) has set up his next project, with Deadline announcing that Hardy will direct the horror movie Lure for Platinum Dunes and Universal Pictures.
Deadline reports, “The story is based on the haunting of the real-life King’s Tavern, considered to be the most haunted building in all of Mississippi, with one of its tenants being the murdered mistress of one of the tavern’s original owners.”
Wikipedia describes the locale, “The city’s oldest standing building, King’s Tavern is rich in history, and that includes the paranormal kind. It is considered the most haunted restaurant in Mississippi. The building is believed to be haunted by several ghosts, including Madeline, the mistress of one of the tavern’s original owners. Although many believe Madeline was murdered by the wife of her lover, no one is sure what happened to her. In the 1930s, when the skeletal remains of three bodies,...

A lot of moments that didn’t make it into the theatrical cut of director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Ends were used to promote the film, with one of the most prominent examples being images that showed an extended version of the attack on the character Joan, Corey’s mom, who was played by Joanne Baron. Now that Halloween Ends is available on both digital and physical media, we decided to share the extended scene clip that shows the full attack on Joan.
At least this scene made it into the special features. The extended cut of the death of Susan the radio receptionist is nowhere to be found.

Fans of the Shudder series The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs were happy to see Diana Prince, also known as Darcy the Mail Girl, show up in director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Ends (read our review Here and discuss whether or not you think the movie is underrated Here) as the radio receptionist Susan – but were also disappointed that her death scene didn’t make it into the final cut of the film. We only see the aftermath. Prince initially thought the deleted death scene would end up on the physical media release of the film… but now that she has received confirmation that it’s not on there, she shared some footage that gives a behind-the-scenes look at the excised murder.
I now know officially that my death scene won’t be included anywhere, but you can see a lil of the BTS from it here… #HalloweenEnds pic.

Fans had expectations going into Halloween Ends (read our review Here). Given the title and the fact that this was hyped up to be the last time Jamie Lee Curtis will ever play the role of franchise heroine Laurie Strode, it seemed sensible to assume that the movie was going to focus on the final showdown between Laurie and masked slasher Michael Myers – who has killed many people around her over the years. Friends, acquaintances, and even her own daughter. But Halloween Ends has very little to do with the final battle between Laurie and Michael – and director David Gordon Green says it was never going to be focused on that.
Speaking with Movie Maker, Green said, “We had to decide how we wanted to wrap up these characters. How do we want to make it not just a nice, neat bow on a franchise? Honestly, we never once considered...

With the release of Halloween Ends (read our review Here) in theatres and on the Peacock streaming service, Halloween fans have been delivered another divisive entry in the franchise. Some love it, some hate it. Some have even put together a petition demanding the movie be reshot entirely. No matter which way we feel about it, now we know for sure why John Carpenter described it as “a departure from the others” and why original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle said it was going to be “surprising”. Director David Gordon Green and star Jamie Lee Curtis knew all along that Halloween Ends wasn’t going to go over well with some fans – and they even warned cast member Rohan Campbell about that when he was cast a few years ago.

David Gordon Green's "Halloween Ends" caps what is known as the "H40" trilogy, breathing new life into the Michael Myers-centered "Halloween" franchise that has chugged along since John Carpenter's original horror film in 1978.
In the new trilogy, Myers — or The Shape, as he was referred to in Carpenter and Debra Hill's script for the o.g. "Halloween" — has returned to the town of Haddonfield with the same unquenchable bloodlust he's held across decades, fought Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode and the townspeople (all of this over the events of Green's "Halloween" and "Halloween Kills"), and now holes up underground to nurse his wounds. Green, along with co-writers Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier, brings back beloved legacy characters like Strode, who once again heads into battle with the masked psychopath who attacked her and killed her friends four decades ago. "Ends" also makes introductions...

Whatever people were expecting from David Gordon Green's "Halloween Ends," the third and final film in his revival trilogy of John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic, it almost certainly wasn't the strangely subdued film he's delivered. The previous installment, "Halloween Kills," seemed to be setting up one last grudge match between Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strodeand her seemingly unkillable nemesis Michael Myers. After all, the stakes had been raised to a series-high personal level with Michael's murder of Laurie's daughter, Karen (Judy Greer). To me, this would've been a disappointingly pat resolution to Green's new take, which had wiped out every sequel to Carpenter's original and started from scratch. Fortunately, Green felt the same way.
"Halloween Ends" kicks off with a teenage babysitter, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), accidentally killing his bratty charge, and proceeds, for a shockingly lengthy stretch of the film, to work shockingly well as a young outlaw romance.

To begin with something benign: David Gordon Green's "Halloween Ends," now in theaters and streaming on Peacock, employed an unusual font for its opening titles. As has been discussed in the pages of /Film recently, both John Carpenter's 1978 original and Green's 2018 sequel employed an orange Itc Serif Gothic Heavy font. Both Rick Rosenthal's 1981 sequel "Halloween II," and Green's follow-up "Halloween Kills" uses the same orange on a Standard Ct Ext ExtraBold font. Finally, both Tommy Lee Wallace's 1982 film "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" and Green's "Halloween Ends" feature a more simplified font that looks like Helvetica.
Why is this important? Green clearly had an eye on the entire rocky history of the "Halloween" film series, now on its thirteenth entry. While Green's films follow a particular continuity that ignores all the other films in the franchise with the exception of the first, in very subtle ways,...

The "Halloween" franchise is cyclical. Ever since John Carpenter's original made a splash in 1978, producers and franchise custodians have been hoping to catch lightning in a bottle again by returning to the same fundamental premise: psychopath Michael Myers cuts a brutal swath through a town of innocents on Halloween night. It's been attempted before without original final girl Jamie Lee Curtis as the eternally-stalked Laurie Strode, but this time she's along for the ride in David Gordon Green's revival "H40" trilogy, which gets rid of all pesky sequels in between '78 and now.
Myers' return to Haddonfield and subsequent killing spree was spread over Green's "Halloween" and "Halloween Kills," and "Ends" picks up a year after those events. Laurie's daughter is dead along with a handful of Haddonfieldians, and a severely injured Michael has once again eluded death. The Boogeyman resurfaces in the present day upon meeting a...

“Halloween Ends” is here. And whether you think it’s ultimately satisfying, it does provide a conclusive finale for the trilogy that started in 2018 with David Gordon Green’s “Halloween” and continued with the blood-soaked sequel, 2021’s “Halloween Kills.” Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode, a part she first played in John Carpenter’s groundbreaking 1978 original, has her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the unstoppable serial killer who has haunted her for all of these years.

[Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “Halloween Ends.”]
When David Gordon Green’s “Halloween” trilogy opens, masked maniac Michael Myers is in a familiar place: institutionalized at Smith’s Grove Psychiatric Hospital, where he’s been for decades. Soon enough, however, he breaks out of the joint, goes after forever foe Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), and embarks on one hell of a killing spree.
After a bruising battle with Laurie, the film ends with Michael (presumably) dead in her burning basement, only for a post-credits scene to reveal he’s, oops!, still breathing, which makes for an easy opening for the film’s sequel, “Halloween Kills.” That film picks up immediately after the ending of “Halloween,” meaning that no one, including Green, needed to worry about figuring out interim plans for the iconic killer.

After helming the two highest-grossing films in the Halloween franchise, filmmaker David Gordon Green stuck to his guns for his trilogy capper, Halloween Ends. Partway through John Carpenter's original "Halloween," Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) is looking for Judith Myers' grave when a Graveyard Keeper (Arthur Malet) relays to the doctor the story of one Charlie Bowles, a man who used to live in a nearby town with a wife and two children until one day when old Charlie "went out to the garage and got himself a hacksaw" before going back into his house and greeting his family. Neither Dr. Loomis nor we the audience get to hear exactly what Charlie did next, but we can infer quite a bit.
Especially as "Halloween" is the story of one Michael Myers, a Haddonfield resident who, as a young boy of six, brutally murdered his sister on October 31st of 1963. Like Charlie, Michael's actions were similarly unexpected and unprovoked, leading Loomis to conclude that Myers was "purely and simply ... evil." Carpenter insisted that the...

Evil streams tonight. That's right, you won't have to wait much longer to see the epic conclusion of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode's multi-generational feud. That's because "Halloween Ends" is now streaming earlier than expected on Peacock. How exciting!
It being on Peacock the same day as its theatrical release isn't exactly an unexpected surprise. It was announced back in August that "Ends" will follow a similar day-and-date release as last year's "Halloween Kills." However, it being released a few hours earlier is pretty awesome.
David Gordon Green's horror trilogy has received some pretty mixed reception over its duration. The initial response to 2018's "Halloween" was warm, with /Film's Chris Evangelista calling it "a brutal, scary and sometimes funny sequel that gives the long-running franchise the respect and adoration it deserves." However, when "Halloween Kills" came around last year, he criticized it for being "an oddly incomplete sequel" that "feels incredibly rushed,...

This review contains spoilers for “Halloween Ends.”
For a movie hyping itself as the final glimpse of Michael Myers, Halloween Ends has surprisingly little of the man in the William Shatner mask.
Those expecting one last showdown between the Boogeyman and ultimate Final Girl Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) may walk away disappointed, as Halloween Ends takes some narrative risks that might anger fans. But those willing to go with it and forgive an overstuffed plot might walk away slightly more satisfied. Like all of David Gordon Green’s entries in this series, Halloween Ends is a mess, but for the first time in the trilogy, it puts its pretensions on the back burner and lets itself have a bit of fun.
Green’s first two films took place over one hellish Halloween night, letting Michael (played here by James Jude Courtney and original Shape Nick Castle) wreak havoc in...

Is David Gordon Green trolling us? The director rescued John Carpenter’s game-changing slasher classic from the dumpster of disposable sequels by going back to the core mythology in 2018’s Halloween. He then sacrificed any goodwill that reboot earned by sidelining Jamie Lee Curtis and abandoning narrative coherence for random, unimaginative mayhem in 2021’s witless Halloween Kills. The conclusion of his trilogy, Halloween Ends, which promises the final faceoff between Laurie Strode and her psycho stalker Michael Myers, just seems to throw its hands in the air and surrender.
What starts out with a clever refresher steadily descends into self-serious trash, with laughable dialogue and plotting. But as with the last round, that’s unlikely to deter the series’ completists when the new film opens in theaters and simultaneously begins streaming on Peacock this Friday.

Bloody Disgusting’s Halloween Ends review is spoiler-free.
Director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills ended with Michael Myers finally coming home after an enraged mob encounter, slaying Laurie Strode’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) daughter in the process. It left the door wide open, ensuring one final showdown between two enduring horror icons in the sequel. But Green’s trilogy steadfastly refuses to give in to expectations. Halloween Ends does live up to its title, but that confrontation gets tacked on to a bizarre new story set four years after Kills.
Since 2018, Michael Myers has disappeared, and his house has been bulldozed to the ground. Laurie finally attempts to move on and find peace. She bought a new home in Haddonfield, where she lives trap free with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak). Ends isn’t Laurie’s story, though. Not really. Laurie may be the town’s freak show, but...

The principal question of David Gordon Green’s trilogy-capper “Halloween Ends” is baked right into its seemingly definitive title: It ends? After 13 films, including multiple timelines, confusing continuity, a pair of remakes, one wholly unaffiliated outlier sequel, a run of “re-quels,” and more, the ballad of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode is coming to a close with one last bloody, brutal slasher. And yet the driving force behind Green’s three “Halloween” features has always been at odds with the very idea that any of this could ever end. So, does it? Well, you’ll have to see.
If Green’s “Halloween” was about the corrosive effects of sustained terror on a single family, and his “Halloween Kills” was about how mob justice can’t solve anything, his “Halloween Ends” thrillingly connects those ideas, putting all of beleaguered Haddonfield, Illinois, on display. After decades of horror, of course this once-idyllic...

Halloween Ends isn’t really going to be the end of the Halloween franchise. As long as there is still money to be made off of Michael Myers, we’re still going to be getting new Halloween movies. But this movie probably is going to be the last time Jamie Lee Curtis ever plays franchise heroine Laurie Strode – and in a new promo video, Curtis gets choked up while talking about her last day on the Halloween Ends set. The day she said goodbye to a character she has been playing, off and on, for forty-four years. You can watch the promo video right here:
#HalloweenEnds is almost here, and @jamieleecurtis was kind enough to share her experience of the last day on set, and just how much Laurie Strode means to her.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode confronts Michael Myers head on in the final trailer for David Gordon Green’s “Halloween Ends.”
A follow-up to 2021’s “Halloween Kills,” the newest installment of the storied franchise picks up four years later with Laurie living with her granddaughter Allyson and finishing her memoir. But a string of nearby violence and terror forces Laurie to confront the evil of Michael Myers once more. James Jude Courtney, Andi Matichak, Will Patton and Kyle Richards all reprise their roles from previous installments alongside Curtis.
“He killed my daughter,” Curtis says in the final trailer. “But tonight, I will kill him.” The clip then shows Myers peering around a door and coming face-to-face with Laurie as she fires a gun in his direction. The trailer ends with Laurie peeling back the mask of a seemingly-dead Myers, only for him to spring to life again.

Jamie Lee Curtis is getting ready to take her final turn as iconic final girl Laurie Strode.
Curtis, who has played Laurie for almost 50 years since John Carpenter’s 1978 “Halloween,” leads upcoming Universal Pictures’ “Halloween Ends,” co-written and directed by David Gordon Green. The final installment in the re-quel trilogy, “Halloween Ends” is set years after the events of Green’s “Halloween” in 2018 and 2021’s extra bloody “Halloween Kills,” following the aftermath of the death of Laurie’s daughter, played by Judy Greer.
“Halloween Ends” premieres in theaters and on Peacock October 14.
While “Kills” saw a shocking death and touched on political conversations like #MeToo, police distrust, and mob mentalities, “Ends” marks a different kind of death: Curtis’ last turn as Strode. Director Green co-wrote the script with Paul Brad Logan, Chris Bernier, and Danny McBride. The digital version of the score will be released on the same day as the film, October 14th, and a physical release will follow on January 20th. It was also mentioned that the electronic music group Boy Harsher has contributed a track called “Burn It Down” to Halloween Ends, with Sacred Bones and Boys Harsher’s imprint Nude Club teaming up to release a maxi single that will feature four different versions of “Burn It Down”. The new behind the scenes video from Universal Pictures’ Halloween Ends features Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis talking about the upcoming film as well as her experiences as the star of the horror franchise. “In 1978 I had no idea what the worldwide love and affection for Lori Strode and Michael Myers would be.
