Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order is the third film in a trilogy that The Asylum began in Ape vs Monster and continued in Ape vs Mecha Ape. Or more likely the third film in a series that will last as long as there are megabudget Kong vs Godzilla films to provide inspiration for their mockbuster franchise.
Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order starts in 2007, Abraham the chimp is orbiting Earth when something large approaches the capsule and briefly cuts off contact between and NASA. Seventeen years later, the now kaiju-sized simian is angrily stomping around his home on Watkins Island, much to the concern of Hank and Mariana.

With Legendary’s big budget Hollywood blockbuster Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire dominating the box office, you knew it wouldn’t be long before The Asylum whipped up their own “mockbuster” version of the film. Their answer to Godzilla x Kong? It’s titled Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order, a sequel to last year’s Ape vs. Mecha Ape, naturally.
Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order will be available on Digital beginning April 5, and it pits the two titular titans up against, well, a mockbuster take on Lovecraft’s Cthulhu. Naturally!
In Ape x Mecha Ape, “A global cabal of world leaders awakens an ancient creature beneath the ocean floor. Now mankind’s only hope rests on an uneasy alliance between the giant ape and his mechanical arch-nemesis, Mecha Ape MkII, to save the Earth.”
The film will also be playing in the following theaters this Friday:

When Warner Bros. and Legendary released Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021, the folks at The Asylum quickly put together a mockbuster called Ape vs. Monster, which featured a giant chimpanzee battling a giant Gila monster (after both creatures were enlarged by consuming a mysterious substance leaking from a space capsule). A sequel called Ape vs. Mecha Ape followed in 2023. Now the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is in theatres, and The Asylum will be giving their mockbuster Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order a digital and theatrical release this Friday, April 5th. In anticipation of the release, a trailer has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above.
Ape x Mecha Ape: New World Order has been written and directed by Marc Gottlieb, who previously directed Ape vs. Mecha Ape and the 1995 comedy Cousin Howard. Gottlieb’s other writing credits include Planet of the Sharks,...

The tagline for The Asylum’s latest film Monster Armageddon reads “Welcome to the Multiverse”. But the film actually has less in common with Marvel or DC’s concept of shared universes than it does with Toho’s monster mashes like Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla Final Wars.

Not letting the success of Ape vs Monster go to waste The Asylum is back with Ape vs. Mecha Ape. This time they’ve brought in Marc Gottlieb to write and direct. While it’s only his second feature, the other was Cousin Howard back in 1995, and the first one for The Asylum he’s written several scripts for them including Jungle Run, 2025 Armageddon, and Aquarium of the Dead. Can he kick the franchise into gear after its dismal first film?
Ape vs. Mecha Ape opens with a chemical weapons plant that looks like an old warehouse being attacked by what looks like the giant ape Abraham. A few explosions later we see that it’s actually a giant, well-armed, robot which makes short work of the plant’s security.

A sequel to 2021’s Ape vs. Monster, which served as a “mockbuster” take on Godzilla vs. Kong, The Asylum has just unleashed their latest creature feature: Ape vs. Mecha Ape.
Starring Tom Arnold, the kaiju-sized fight film is now available on VOD outlets.
In director Marc Gottlieb‘s Ape vs. Mecha Ape, “Recognizing the destructive power of its captive giant Ape, the military makes its own battle-ready A.I., Mecha Ape. But its first practical test goes horribly wrong, leaving the military no choice but to release the imprisoned giant ape to stop the colossal robot before it destroys downtown Chicago.”
Jack Pearson, Anna Telfer and Xander Bailey also star.
Could be fun, could be terrible. Watch the Ape vs. Mecha Ape trailer below.

2022 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the independent film production and distribution company The Asylum, the company known for bringing us some of the craziest giant monster and mockbuster movies out there. And they’ve decided to celebrate their anniversary by putting together what is basically the Avengers: Endgame of Asylum movies. A film that sees the human race having to deal with multiple Asylum movie monsters at once – and it even acknowledges that these monsters have been pulled into our reality straight out of Asylum movies! With Dwayne Johnson’s big-budget Jungle Cruise due out from Disney soon, The Asylum was sure to be ready with their own cash in. And sure enough, here comes Jungle Run starring Richard Grieco and a bunch of people you’ve probably never heard of before fighting creatures rendered with questionable CGI.
Lebecq captain’s a charter boat in Brazil. Like all jungle boat captains, he drinks heavily and leaves everything to his crew Sark (Benjamin Bernard; Messiah) and Teese (Christian DeJesus). Despite offering private charters he’s managed to charter his boat out to both Amanda and Vera (Jamie Petitto; Geek USA).
Amanda and her brother Scott (Jack Pearson; Shark Season) are searching for their missing father Nathan. Vera runs the company that sent him into the jungle.
