Eddie Fewtrell, the eldest, and his wife Hazel, are on the cusp of opening their second nightclub to fulfil their aim of building a ‘legitimate’ burgeoning empire, but when Philadelphia crime boss Little Nicky Scarfo decides to flood the UK with heroin with the help of the Kray twins, the celebrity London gangsters turn to Eddie.

Legendary Indigenous actor David Dalaithngu, known for his roles in Walkabout, Storm Boy, and Ten Canoes, has died aged 68.
His death comes after he attended the premiere of documentary My Name Is Gulpilil at the Adelaide Festival earlier this year, defying a terminal lung cancer prognosis from 2017 that had only given him six months to live.
The news was confirmed on Monday night by South Australian Premier Steven Marshall, who described the trailblazing actor as a “once-in-a-generation artist”.
“It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of an iconic, once-in-a-generation artist who shaped the history of Australian film and Aboriginal representation on screen – David Dalaithngu Am,” he wrote in a statement.
“My thoughts are with his family, and his dear friend and carer Mary Hood.”

Olympics themed 6 x 9 web-series The Power of the Dream, created by Alexandra Keddie and Bobbie-Jean Henning, will launch this July, just in time for the games.
The comedy mockumentary follows the quest of two athletically challenged cousins trying to fulfill their Olympic dream, and was conceived when Keddie planned to attend an adult gymnastics class.
“Bobbie thought that was an absolutely terrible idea,” she told If. “Considering I have flimsy ankles and weak limbs.
“I was like ‘No, no, I was really good at gymnastics when I was in grade five and not much has changed so it’s going to be fine’.
“She said she’ll support me all the way to the Olympics, so we workshopped this idea of the coach and athlete situation.
“We were excited about the idea of what the Olympics actually looks like if we had a real, normal person trying to do these things.

National Film and Sound Archive (Nfsa) CEO Jan Müller has announced his resignation after three and half years, with the executive to return to the Netherlands to be with family.
Müller was appointed to lead the Nfsa in 2017, with the board drawn to his expertise in digitisation. He joined from the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision – one of Europe’s largest audio-visual collections.
Between 2015-2017 the archivist had also been chair of the Europeana Foundation, an institute that houses over 50 million digitised items from museums, libraries, archives and collections across Europe.
During his tenure, he has led the development and implementation of the Nfsa’s strategic vision for a digital archive, and helped to secure an additional $5.5 million in funding from the Federal Government that should allow it to meet the 2025 deadline to preserve the magnetic tape collection before it is lost forever.

If Ghostbusters taught me anything, it’s that Chris Hemsworth is being wasted as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor was never meant to be hemmed in by an archaic-speaking demigod! He was meant to let his comedic tendencies fly! Hemsworth’s turn as ‘too dumb to live, too pretty to die’ Kevin in Paul Feig’s revamped Ghostbusters was one of the highlights of the film. It was great to see Hemsworth go against type-casting and clearly have a blast doing it. Even in a later portion of the film — when he gets to play a completely different character — let Hemsworth poke fun at himself (and all his muscles). Currently, the Aussie actor has left Kevin behind him (though I personally hope for his return in a later addition to the franchise) to pick up Thor’s hammer once again. But that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop.

“The organizers of the International Film Festival of Kerala (Iffk) have decided to have Australians serving as chairperson of the main jury for two years in succession – Bruce Beresford last year and Paul Cox this year. It is instructive to note that while there was some space for aborigines in Beresford’s films, there has been practically none in Cox’s body of work.”
Year – 1987. Even as ‘white’ Australia was preparing to celebrate 200 years of white settlement, the oppression of aborigines – the original inhabitants of the continent – continued apace. The oppression is naked and heartless in outback settlements, but exists in subtler forms in Australian towns and cities. I have in one of my scrapbooks an agency report dating back to that year which speaks of a high court judge who wept as he listened to harrowing accounts of racism and denial of justice to aborigines in a remote New South Wales community.

In a dramatic departure from the style of its recent advertising sing-alongs, supermarket giant Coles has released a new emotive brand ad in time for the Olympics, starring sporting hero and brand ambassador Cathy Freeman, Mumbrella can reveal.
The commercial, titled the Cathy Spirit ad, sees a young girl race across an open field, with the voice of commentator Bruce McAvaney from Freeman’s famous victory at the Sydney 2000 Olympics in the background.
The ad is set to break tomorrow morning around the opening ceremony, on both Nine and Nine’s digital Gem.
The ad is timed to coincide with the launch of Coles Sports for Schools, of which Freeman is the ambassador.
A survey from the supermarket found that one in five Australian children have their sights on becoming an Olympic hero when they grow up, while 87% will be inspired to watch and play more sport during the Olympics.

Hugh Jackman has been named the next poster boy for his native Australia's tourism ads, according to a new poll. The "Wolverine" was chosen over other famous Aussie stars, including Kylie Minogue, Cathy Freeman, Dame Edna, and 11-year-old Bindi Irwin.
The Roy Morgan poll, conducted right before the Tourism Futures conference, asked tourism representatives to vote on who they think is right to be the country's next poster boy for their tourism ads. They were not prompted with a list of suggestions during the poll.
Conference convener Tony Charters explains that Jackman's appeal is based on his "quintessential Aussie profile." Also, his involvement in the movie "Australia," which he co-starred with another Aussie actress Nicole Kidman, and Tourism Australia's companion marketing campaign make him a perfect candidate.
