The three Oscar-nominated members of the cast of “Oppenheimer”—Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr.—made an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday night. With just days left until voting stops (and tabulation begins) for the awards on March 10, it’s understandable if folks were getting a little loopy.
Kimmel decided to show the three a clip from a recent interview Murphy did with Scott Pelley for CBS’s “60 Minutes” and, even though there wasn’t a punchline, taking it out of context sent Murphy’s costars into hysterics.
The clip shows Pelly quoting Murphy’s other costar Matt Damon saying that the Irish actor is a lousy dinner guest. In reality, Damon was complimenting him, suggesting that his concentration during the difficult production of Christopher Nolan’s three-hour IMAX drama occupied the man’s thoughts even during off hours. But the look on Murphy’s...

Cillian Murphy is everything an exceptional person can be: a talented actor, a dedicated family man, and a philanthropist, but one thing he could not be, according to Oppenheimer co-star Matt Damon, is a great dinner companion.

Completely submersing into the character of J. Robert Oppenheimer a.k.a. the Father of the Atomic Bomb is not a child’s play, that’s for sure. However, despite the intensity of the role, Cillian Murphy always remained on his best game and is now reaping the fruits of his hard work in the form of praise and accolades.

Updated: The White House has declined CBS News’ request for a sit down interview with President Joe Biden tied to the Super Bowl, the network confirmed.
This will mark the second year in a row that the White House has bypassed an interview with the Super Bowl host network, which had become annual tradition for administrations given that the event reaches such a huge audience. CBS has the rights to the Feb. 11 event between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.
Last year, the White House declined a Fox News request for an interview when Fox had the rights to the big game. Variety first reported on the declined request.
A White House official confirmed that the request was turned down. But the administration has not given a reason as to why. Biden has been in the midst of the crisis in the Middle East, as the U.

An interview with the U.S. President in the hours before the Super Bowl has become a tradition in recent decades. Now that custom seems to be in danger of dying out.
President Joe Biden will not take part in an exchange during the pre-game festivities leading up to CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl Lviii on February 11, CBS News confirmed. The Paramount Global news operation had been in discussions with the White House in recent weeks. Details about which correspondent might have been eyed for the assignment could not be learned, but the CBS News offer was believed to have been for a 15-minute interview, three or four minutes of which would have aired during the network’s pre-game coverage.
This will mark the second year in a row that President Biden has turned down the opportunity, which typically draws an audience of tens of millions, even in the hours before kickoff.
