Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce a series of feature films based on Michael Scott's young adult fantasy novels, "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel."
Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House, has already published three books in the six-part series -- "The Alchemyst," "The Magician" and "The Sorceress" -- and will publish the fourth, "The Necromancer," in May. The books detail the adventures of fifteen-year-old twins Sophie and Josh Newman as they travel around the world with the immortal alchemist Nicholas Flamel.
"Michael's fantastic series is a natural evolution from Harry Potter," said di Bonaventura.
Scott and Barry Krost will serve as executive producers on the projects.
The "Flamel" books were once set up at New Line with "Survivor" mastermind Mark Burnett producing.
Di Bonaventura most recently produced "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Imagine That." His next film, "Salt," will be released by Columbia in July.
