We are just a few weeks away from the first episode of House of the Dragon Season 2. The period fantasy drama is a prequel to Game of Thrones (2011-2019). The HBO series was created by George Rr Martin and Ryan Condal and is based on Martin’s Fire and Blood book. The story takes place 200 years before the events of GoT.
House of The Dragon stars Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, Eve Best, Tom Glynn-Carny, Ewan Mitchell, and others. The first season received a tremendous reaction and ended on a high note as we saw the bloodshed and wars. The season 2 trailers have hinted that things will only get uglier for the show’s characters. With the dragons having so much power this time, it is definitely going to be a fiery season!

When HBO delivered House of the Dragon, audiences were certainly impressed. The series perfectly showcases the power dynamics that the audience loved in the original series in a completely new fashion, following a story that feels almost brand new. The excellence of the 2022 series can be perfectly encapsulated in one scene.
Olivia Cooke in House of the Dragon [Credit: HBO]The eighth episode of the first season was certainly an emotional rollercoaster. While a lot was already going on and a lot of iconic moments happened in the duration of this, one scene stands out like no other. A moment that was supposed to be the most important for Rhaenyra Targaryen, ended up being the biggest show of power for Viserys Targaryen.

*Warning — this review contains some spoilers for 'Boom'*
Ever since Ncuti Gatwa took over the Tardis keys to become Doctor Who’s Fifteenth Doctor, things have been pretty non-stop for everybody’s favourite Time Lord. From playing cosmic catch with Neil Patrick Harris’ Toymaker in 60th anniversary special debut ‘The Giggle’, to scat-battling a goblin king with new companion Ruby Sunday (Gibson) in Christmas outing ‘The Church On Ruby Road’, to run-ins with space babies, bogeymen, Beatles, and the celestial embodiment of music itself in 'Space Babies' and 'The Devil's Chord', there’s barely been a moment for the Doctor — or indeed the show’s viewers — to take a breath. All of that changes with ‘Boom’, a stripped back, slowed down, and cheek-clenchingly suspenseful character study from former Who showrunner — and Weeping Angels creator — Steven Moffat.

House of the Dragon Season 2 has been one of the highly anticipated television shows after the success of season 1, which gave chills to the bones to the devout fans of the saga.

House of the Dragon Producers Reveal Plans for Season 3 - Main Image
The first season of House of the Dragon was released to great success. Thus, it’s a no-brainer that it was renewed for another season, though with a reduced episode count. Now, the show's producers share their plans for House of the Dragon Season 3 in case HBO renews the show.
Compared to the 10-episode first season, House of the Dragon Season 2 will only have eight episodes.
Of course, many expected it to be as long as the first one, but the producers revealed they had no control over the reduced episode count.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the series’ executive producer, Sara Hess, claimed this move wasn’t a creative call. Though she couldn’t say anything about it, she stressed it “wasn’t really our choice.”
But despite this change, plans for the hit HBO series are already sealed.

This Doctor Who article contains spoilers.
Back in 2012, Doctor Who fans freaked out. We’d been told in advance that Clara (Jenna Coleman) would eventually replace Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) as the next companion of the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) in series 7 of the show. But fans weren’t prepared for just how soon Coleman would make her Doctor Who debut. Although she wouldn’t officially join Matt Smith in the Tardis until a few episodes later, Coleman first appeared in the series 7 premiere “Asylum of the Daleks” as a seemingly different character named Oswin, who, although she met a tragic end, encouraged the Doctor to remember her.
And now, 12 years later, it looks like Who history is repeating itself. In the absolutely wonderful Steven Moffat-penned episode, “Boom,” the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) encounters a host of new allies, including a marine named Mundy. For fans of Star Wars: Andor,...

It’s all fun and games until someone steps on a mine.
There has certainly been peril in Ruby Sunday’s first few adventures with the Doctor. Being briefly erased from history, babies abandoned to die in space, nuclear winter brought on by chaos god – you don’t just shrug those things off. But even the darkest moments have occurred in the context of fairly light-hearted romps.
With the tense, riveting “Boom”, however, we have the first real example of this new companion going through a genuinely traumatic ordeal. It’s sort of Ruby’s “The Fires of Pompeii”, albeit with a much cheerier ending – the episode where the companion realises that travelling with the Doctor can get pretty rough.
By its nature, it’s the kind of adventure that comes after some bedding in – you can’t start a companion’s tenure...

The one fatal mistake that most TV shows make is using TV cameos gratuitously. If the cameo doesn't mean something to the audience and the characters in the show, it's pointless, and little more than a random Stan Lee Appears gag.
On the other hand, too many shows have fallen into the trap of celebrity worship with their cameos.
Having cast members gawk and gape at their celebrity crush as if to reinforce the celebrity's prestige while doing nothing for the universe we enjoy is a waste of talent.
For this list of the top TV cameos worth celebrating, we will focus on iconic cameo appearances that gave the show some unforgettable moments that made TV history.
Seinfeld Cast, Curb Your Enthusiasm
What better way to give Seinfeld the better ending many feel it deserved than by bringing back the cast and the original set and doing a bit of self-parody?...

1. The Day of the Doctor – A Special Episode
In honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who, the BBC prepared a special surprise for fans in the form of a special episode in which not only David Tennant's Tenth and Matt Smith's Eleventh faced each other, but also the darker incarnation of the Time Lord that both later tried to erase from their lives – the War Doctor who participated in the Time War between the Time Lords and the Daleks. It was he who had to destroy them both, to end the endless suffering.

If everything wasn’t of the greatest caliber, a show like Game of Thrones would not have reached such heights. The two areas where the play truly excelled were the costume and wig designs. Hence, its prequel House of the Dragon including some of the best TV costumes and wigs ever produced shouldn’t come as a surprise. And Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, absolutely loves them.

The reaction to the wigs on House of the Dragon has been quite mixed. However, the one D’Arcy wears for Rhaenyra has been loved unanimously. In a recent interview with the Es magazine, D’Arcy said: “I’m very lucky, I look very different in the show. The blonde wig is a piece of armour that protects me. This article contains no spoilers for House Of The Dragon season 2. But it does broadly allude to events from the source material Fire & Blood.
House of the Dragon season 2 is merely one month away from its June 16 premiere on HBO. As such, many fresh tidbits are beginning to trickle out about the next batch episodes for the Game of Thrones prequel.
The latest, and most substantial download of information arrived yesterday in the form of a massive, revealing new trailer and an equally massive, revealing feature from Entertainment Weekly. While we’ve already delved into the former, there’s a detail hidden in the later that deserves further exploration.
Amid EW‘s sprawling, well-written report focusing on House of the Dragon stars Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), there’s a passage from series writer Sara Hess that invokes an unlikely source of inspiration for season 2: The Shining.

Dame Judi Dench has pushed back against giving trigger warnings before stage plays, positing anyone who is “sensitive” enough to require one shouldn’t be attending the theater in the first place.
In an interview with Radio Times magazine, Dench said that while she realizes trigger warnings can sometimes be necessary, she believes they can negatively impact the experience of taking in a stage play.
“I can see why they exist, and it is preparing people, I suppose, but if you’re that sensitive, don’t go to the theater, because you could be very shocked,” Dench said. “Where is the surprise of seeing and understanding it in your own way? Why go to the theatre if you’re going to be warned about things that are in the play?”
The Oscar-winning actor continued, “Isn’t the whole business of going to the theatre about seeing something that you can be excited,...

Milly Alcock’s work as a younger iteration of Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon has given fans a good idea of just how talented she is as an actress. Her range has been one many have familiarised themselves with and so learning about the news of her casting as the titular character in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow only proved to be the cherry on top.

*House Of The Dragon S1 Spoilers Ahead*
If we had a nickel for every time a trailer for the second season of a big budget fantasy series based on an iconic book series released on a Tuesday in mid-May, we’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right? Yes folks, within mere hours of the first teaser for The Rings Of Power Season 2 dropping yesterday, HBO fired back with its own fancy new trailer for House Of The Dragon’s second season. And sure enough, there be dragons. Check it out below:
As you may recall, Season 1’s breathless finale saw Aemond Targaryen’s (Ewan Mitchell) dragon Vhagar brutally kill his half-sister Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault). Families, eh? Unsurprisingly, Rhaenyra’s none-too-happy about Aemond’s heinous deed, and in this new trailer things are hotting up...

HBO has released the first full-length trailer for House of the Dragon season 2 (via SFFGazette.com), and brace yourselves because it's epic. In the newly released footage, we see more of the scheming which continues in Westeros as war beckons between Queen Alicent Hightower and Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen.
The Targaryen civil war known as the "Dance of the Dragons" is nearly upon us and this sneak peek does a phenomenal job of setting the stage for the conflict to come.
All the major players are highlighted, with the sneak peek ending on a suitably epic note as Rhaenyra stands tall with Syrax looming large behind her. Who will prevail? Book readers (and most Game of Thrones fans) will know, but we won't spoil anything here,
"The first season was so much about the royal family, that 1 percent of the upper 1 percent that rules this world. All the people in the...

On Tuesday, HBO released the full trailer for “House of the Dragon” Season 2, which premieres June 16.
The eight-episode second season of the “Game of Thrones” prequel finds the Targaryens in a civil war, with the Greens – supporters of Aegon II Targaryn (Tom Glynn-Carney), son of late king Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and the traditional heir – on one side, and the Blacks – partisans of Viserys’ daughter Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), Viserys’ chosen heir, and her husband/uncle Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) on the other. Both sides claim the Iron Throne, and they will kill their kin to get it.
The trailer previews the combination of political strategy, intense action, and interpersonal backstabbing that’s the “Game of Thrones” franchise’s signature. On the political side, there’s a small council meeting where Aegon forcefully rejects the idea of dignity in favor of revenge. On the action side,...

When Daemon can’t answer, her look is one of shock and anger. House of the Dragon Season 2 premieres Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c on HBO (streaming on Max). All hail the king ... or the queen! Which one has the rightful claim, you ask? Well, that depends on which side you happen to have sworn allegiance to in the great Targaryen schism known as the Dance of the Dragons.
"House of the Dragon" lived up to its billing as an essential "Game of Thrones" prequel, set hundreds of years before Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen ever made their claims on the Iron Throne. The events of the mythic Targaryen civil war always loomed large in the background of the original HBO series, but never before had we seen the fire, blood, and (of course) incest depicted with as much fervor as the 10 episodes that comprised its debut season. With all the major players fully established and the stakes set impossibly high, season 2 now has a full runway to double down on our favorite royal squabble and dive deep into...

After Season 2 was first unveiled at Ccxp in Sao Paolo in December 2023 with a teaser, and later released viral dueling trailers, the season of the dragon is almost upon audiences. Season 2 will not have a time jump like in Season 1, and instead solely focus on former besties turned step-family Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) as they both battle for the Iron Throne.
Per the official synopsis, after the death of King Viserys I (Paddy Considine), an undeniable rift has grown between his daughter Rhaenyra (D’Arcy) and wife Alicent (Cooke), after their close friendship as teenagers. A rift that’s now a full-blown civil war.
The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” and is set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.”
In addition to Cooke and D’Arcy, fellow returning cast members include Matt Smith,...

One of the things that makes Doctor Who so popular with British audiences, and now just as popular in the US, is the way each generation has its own Doctor to look back on. Although the show has been popular in the UK for decades, it only arrived in America at the beginning of the 11th Doctor era, but has seen quite a few Doctors since then.
Of course, it's expected that every single person who steps into the Tardis and embarks on the intergalactic adventure of a lifetime will be inspired by someone who's already been the Doctor. Millie Gibson, for example, the Doctor's most recent companion, has scored some points with viewers by naming her in-universe role model.

Ncuti Gatwa is earning rave reviews for his turn as the 15th iteration of the shapeshifting “Doctor Who.” While enough episodes won’t air on Disney+ in time to make him eligible at this year’s Emmys, he could well contend for his featured role in Apple TV+’s acclaimed limited series “Masters of the Air.” He portrays real-life World War II Air Force officer Robert Daniels and is being submitted in Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor.
That could put him in competition against Christopher Eccleston, who played the ninth Doctor (the first 21st century version of the character) in 2005. Having won an International Emmy for the British anthology series “Accused” (2011), Eccleston is now seeking a primetime bid for his work as Alaska police captain Ted Connelly on HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country.”
Peter Capaldi, who played the 12th Doctor from 2014 to 2017, headlines the new Apple TV+ series “Criminal Record.

House of the Dragon was given an almost impossible task. Game of Thrones is considered a cultural phenomenon; it has raised the bar for quality and changed the way TV series are produced. However, all fans know that the first rule of this fandom is not to talk about the latest seasons.
The series' controversial finale, which was not supported by the original source material, undermined the audience's trust in the universe. It took a lot of skill and effort to fish something worthwhile out of the ashes and ruins that Benioff and Weiss left behind.
The first promotional footage of the series left conflicting impressions, and casting decisions raised questions. Some fans awaited House of the Dragon armed with skepticism, bias, and a willingness to bury the project under tons of criticism. But the first episode came out, and for many, skepticism gave way to surprise and then excitement.
