L.A.-based duopoly Kcbs-tv and Kcal-tv have shuffled the news anchors for their weeknight newscasts.
Pat Harvey, a 20-year Kcal veteran who was one of the original anchors of the station's primetime news, is switching to Kcbs to co-anchor the 5 and 11 p.m. newscasts with Paul Magers, who has held that role since 2004 with Laura Diaz.
Diaz, meanwhile, is getting bumped to Kcbs' 6 p.m. newscast as that program's sole anchor. Diaz will also take on the extra responsibility of hosting and playing a role in the creation of a series of local news and public affairs specials.
Kcal weathercaster Jackie Johnson will succeed Johnny Mountain as Kcbs weeknight weathercaster. Mountain, a five-year Kcbs veteran whose career spans 32 years on Los Angeles television, announced his retirement last month. Josh Rubenstein, the weekday meteorologist for Kcbs and Kcal, will provide Kcal's weeknight weather reports until a successor for Johnson is named.
