Offset took to the stage in Miami Thursday for his first public appearance since the death of his cousin and fellow Migos member, Takeoff.
Offset hit up Miami hotspot E11EVEN shortly after 3:30 a.m., with wife Cardi B joining him in the club’s VIP booth. After snapping photos with fans and his entourage, Offset kicked off a brief 30-minute set of his biggest hits, telling the crowd that “We are going to go Takeoff crazy in here tonight.”

“Madretierra,” a skipping track from the long-running Afro-Peruvian group Novalima, is transformed into crunchy house by TolinchiLove, Vitu Valera, and Vazdra, who released a hard-headed remix of the song earlier this month. The single is being put out by Nervous Records, which is famous for its connection to seminal Nineties dance producers like Masters at Work and Armand Van Helden, so it’s not surprising that this remix favors the square, thumping drums that keep clubs humming.

Duck Sauce — the disco duo of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden — have returned with “Smiley Face,” their first song in six years.
The track is a burst of pure dance floor joy, with euphoric vocal samples gliding across a quick-stepping groove. Over the course of the song, Duck Sauce repeatedly build and drop the beat, pushing “Smiley Face” into bigger and bigger moments of delirium each time.

The All My Friends festival, which is scheduled for August 18 and 19 in Los Angeles, announced its lineup today (May 22) with an imaginative spoof of the “Golden Girls” theme.
Playing off of the “thank you for being a friend” theme (sung by Anna Lunoe), headliners Rl Grime, Gucci Mane, M.I.A. and Jhene Aiko, Jamie Xx and Armand Van Helden are revealed in type that would usually list featured actors. The clip also includes cameos by Anna Lunoe, Jason Bentley, Wax Motif, Chris Lake, Justin Martin, Chris Lorenzo, Deux Twins and Destructo, aka Gary Richards, the festival’s curator and an executive at LiveStyle.
The event takes place adjacent to downtown L.A.’s Arts District at Row Dtla, a creative space and shopping area. It will feature three stages.
Following the recent cancellation of Fyf Festival (reportedly due to low ticket sales), Amf may be the only major music event to take place in L.

Insomniac doesn’t mess around when it comes to lineups. The company has consistently impressed us year after year by revealing star studded rosters for their events, all with a nice variety of genres and artists, ensuring that there’s always something for everyone.
Tonight, they continue that trend with the full lineup for Edc (Electric Daisy Carnival) Las Vegas, which was announced on the latest edition of Night Owl Radio, Insomniac’s weekly radio show. As per usual though, the names were revealed in a rather cryptic manner and while we still don’t have an official list to consult, the Edm community has taken to Reddit to start putting the pieces together.

Dance music fans the world over are counting down the days until the release of Eric Prydz‘s highly anticipated debut album, Opus, making it as fitting a time as any for the Swedish progressive house innovator to tease out a couple tracks. In the eighth episode of his esteemed Beats 1 show, the DJ/producer has showcased two songs from the effort that capture his richly layered style and depth of concept.
The mix starts off with the first track, “The Matrix,” a decidedly uplifting progression that showcases Prydz’s use of synth arpeggios. The second, “Trubble,” arrives at the end, and utilizes otherworldly dissonance to create more tension in the listener. In bookending the mix with either track, Prydz makes the eighth edition of his Beats 1 show a tantalizing preview for what’s to come on Opus.
As far as the album itself is concerned, Eric Prydz‘ Opus will come out on February 5th.

Jack Ü just can’t stop, and now they’re getting back “To Ü” with a dedicated remix Ep. Featuring the talents of Clean Bandit, Oliver, and Armand Van Helden, this remix Ep is certainly an unexpected pitch.
Skrillex and Diplo’s collaboration with AlunaGeorge was definitely an underdog on the album, not gaining nearly the popularity of Jack Ü’s staple “Take Ü There” or the infamous Bieber collab, but now its getting deserved attention.
Pulling the track in a broad spectrum of influence, the To Ü Remix Ep is a vibrant interpretation of the duo’s original. With everything from the funky bass of of the George remix, the cavernous Armand Van Helden take, or Oliver’s slinky downtempo, this Ep is sure to tweak some necks in confusion.
Still, if Jack Ü is curating a selection, you know it’s going to be solid. Have a listen...

Those who were lucky enough to attend Holy Ship! a couple of weeks back were treated to a pretty incredible couple of days. One of the highlights, however, was a party held on a private island, where artists like Flume, Armand Van Helden, Duke Dumont and many others took the stage.
While we unfortunately don’t have audio from the entire event, Dumont has released a small portion, 33 minutes to be exact, of his set online. Full of tropical vibes and some deep house, it’s a tantalizing tease of what was no doubt an incredible day for those in attendance.
Check out the set above and let us know if you’ll be boarding Holy Ship!’s next outing, when it departs again on February 18th.

Dutch producer Laidback Luke is known in electronic dance music circles as a nice guy who reliably -- and consistently -- turns out effective original tracks and remixes. He teamed up with Majestic for "Pogo," a fun, simple house track that's firmly in the Dutch style (other Dutch producers: Chuckie, Sidney Sampson, Afrojack, Tiesto ... the list goes on).
"Since I'm just home for about four days a month, I make my tracks mostly in hotel rooms," Luke told The Huffington Post of the track. "This one probably came about in a hotel room somewhere on tour."
Relentless touring is the status quo for top-tier DJs, who book hundreds of gigs a year and may travel to half a dozen or more countries each week. Luke's able to continually release music because, frankly, it doesn't take him much time to puta new song together. "[Pogo] was probably a 3.5-hour session," he said.

Kudos to the Academy. They've pretty much nailed it when it comes to the Grammy nominees in what's arguably the most-important dance-related category Sunday night: Best Dance Recording. In 2011, the U.S. Edm market saw an explosion the likes of which hadn't seen since the punk rock revolution back in the '90s, and those given the nod are a testament to its abounding success.
A category once graced by Madonna, Britney and Gaga is now overrun by the Prince of Dubstep, a monstrous mouse, a turntable whiz and his NYC cohort, three rock stars of house, a Frenchman with a Swedish prodigy and a girl who originally showed us love in the '90s. Last year, Duck Sauce released a song called "Barbra Streisand", which was named after singer Barbra Streisand, whom you've probably heard of. It was a big hit, eventually going to #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. It was also covered on an episode of "Glee". Duck Sauce's latest single is called "Big Bad Wolf", and they...

Duck Sauce have debuted their new music video online. The dance duo - consisting of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden - have unveiled the clip for their latest single 'Big Bad Wolf'. The video features guys who pull down their trousers to reveal a head attached to their crotch, with the two main "crotchfaces" played by the dance two-piece themselves. Speaking to Rolling Stone about the concept, A-Trak explained: "'Big Bad Wolf' is pretty simple, and it can mean anything, really, so we wanted the video to have its own narrative. "Remember when dance music videos used to actually be creative? Like when you think back to Aphex Twin, Fatboy Slim and Daft Punk... I don't (more)...

'We shot the whole video with Armand and A-Trak basically with their heads between the legs of these actors,' Keith Schofield tells MTV News.

It is definitely the greatest crotch-centric video to have made its way into your inbox over the past 24 hours (at least we hope): Duck Sauce's slightly Nsfw/ definitely Nsfl "Big Bad Wolf" clip, which stars the dynamic DJing duo as, well, a pair of d---heads.
An oddly compelling mixture of gross-out humor and bawdy, barroom imagery, it features the Sauce's A-Trak and Armand Van Helden attached to the nether regions of a pair of rather hirsute gentlemen out for a night on the town. It is very much the opposite of their blissed-out "Barbra Streisand" clip, which is fitting, given that it comes from the mind of director Keith Schofield, who is no stranger to making thoroughly, uh, out-there fare.

On a July night, the ground at New York's always-crowded, never-clean Webster Hall was quite literally shaking under the bass pouring out of the DJ's booth and its surrounding speakers.
Feel-good house bangers like Swedish House Mafia's "Save the World" and infectious jingles like Afrojack's "Take Over Control" thumped through the space. The crowd, which ranged from Williamsburg hipsters with glow sticks to over-tanned men in tank tops, obligingly rode the highs and lows, fist pumping their way through the night. There was, as anyone who has attended an electronic music show can attest, a certain harmony that isn't found at concerts of many other genres.
Then suddenly, but somehow not surprisingly at all, everyone was dancing to Britney Spears.
The DJ played two of Spears' hits, "Till the World Ends" (which features both lyrics and vocal hiccups that are almost uncomfortably similar to "Save the World") and "Hold It Against Me.

After much anticipation, this Friday (April 22) marks the premiere of the long-awaited blog-house-inspired electronica documentary "The Electro Wars," which is streaming on Pitchfork. Directed by filmmaker Stephen Alex Vasquez, "The Electro Wars" is a commentary on the current state of dance music, and most notably the rise of electro-house and the other burgeoning subgenres in the States. Considering it's his first breakthrough film, the cast of characters Vasquez booked and level of access he was granted is impressive. Having started off as nothing more than a passionate fan with a very limited budget, it was no easy task for the indie filmmaker, who just two years ago could barely get into the clubs.

With close to 15,000 masked fans checked in and hundreds of others watching and dancing alongside a massive tent, the house music super-group treated their fans to the nine-hour mini-festival that was "Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand."
While the three Swedes were the headliners, their supporting lineup alone was worth marveling over: A-Trak, Armand Van Helden, Max Vangeli, AN21, Dirty South, and Pete Tong (who also emceed the event) were among the big-name performers. But when it came time for Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso to take the stage, it was clear this show would be like no other Miami has seen.

Hip-hop heavyweights aren't the only ones making waves with mixtapes these days. Dance music has taken the States by storm, and world-class DJs are having a field day with the seemingly endless supply of fresh beats and distinctly unique sounds.
One of the best in the biz is veteran DJ/producer Junior Sanchez. After the massive success of "Where You Are," his collaboration with Harry "Choo Choo" Romero and Alexander Technique, and the forthcoming release "I Believe In," slated for Miami in March (both released on Steve Angello's Size Records), Sanchez has positioned himself to be one of the biggest names of 2011, starting with his powerful new mix CD, Seize the Fewcha.

"DJ Hero 2" has entered the last leg of its path toward an October 19 release date, and though they've revealed 105 tracks that will appear featuring talent like DJ Qbert and DJ Shadow, FreeStyleGames had not yet named what the sequel's mix list would include. That's all changed now, however, and they've even grouped the combos and re-styled singles by producer.
"Whether it's Pussycat Dolls Mixed With Pitbull, 2Pac Mixed With B.o.B., or a all-new remix of a Daft Punk anthem, in 'DJ Hero 2' we have created 83 mixes that are not only incredibly fun to play, but will allow everyone to experience the music they know and love in an all-new way," FreeStyleGames music director Dan Neil said in a press release. "The amazing soundtrack, coupled with the new social gameplay modes and all-new levels of creative freedom, make 'DJ Hero 2' the ultimate interactive music experience."

HollywoodNews.com: Lady Gaga already has some of the biggest hits of the past year and so it would only make sense for three of them to be included in the new DJ Hero 2 video game that is slated to hit stores on October 19.
A follow up to DJ Hero, the new game will feature over 100 of the biggest tracks from the hottest artists, remixed exclusively for the game. From Eminem’s “Not Afraid,” Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” David Guetta’s “Memories” feat. Kid Cudi, and Lil’ Wayne’s “Lollipop” feat. Static Major music fans will find more than a handful of songs to entertain themselves.
“The individual songs that have been mixed into the DJ Hero 2 soundtrack have been viewed online more than 1.5 billion times, which really speaks volumes to both the size and scope of our music,” said Dan Neil, Music Director, FreeStyleGames. “Working with some of...

Remember when Eminem said nobody listens to techno? The times have certainly changed since that infamous rant, considering the fact that more than 185,000 people attended the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Exposition Park last weekend, according to a rep for the fest, making it one of the largest dance-music events in the country. The party spanned two days, five stages and boasted over 150 of the most famous DJs in the world, including Armin Van Buuren, Benny Benassi, Deadmau5 and Kaskade. Even Will.I.Am had a prime slot on the main stage Saturday night, and Lil Jon came out to host on the mic both nights. Free carnival rides, art installations, state-of-the-art lighting and sound also helped to create a one-of-a-kind electronic-music experience.

The shiny-coiffed Rhode Island native has been nominated among a list of legendary DJs in the annual America's Best DJ competition. Granted, there are 100 names on the list, but the contest encourages fans of club music to vote for their favorite plate spinner, and 2010 marks the first time D has made the list.
While there are plenty of lesser-known DJs on the list, Pauly will be going up against some of the hottest and most-respected names in the game, including Armand Van Helden, Bad Boy Bill, Bassnectar, A-Trak, Carl Craig, BT, Crystal Method, Cut Chemist, Danny Tenaglia,...

Thirty years down the line, it's easy to forget that hip-hop began with DJs stringing the funkiest disco breaks head to tail. But more recently, as evidenced by the creative direction taken by artists like Timbaland and Kanye West, hip-hop seems to be reconnecting with its disco roots.
The prime example of the moment is Duck Sauce, the collaboration between hip-hop mainstay DJ A-Trak and electro-house DJ/producer Armand Van Helden on A-Trak's Fool's Gold label.
"I had met [A-Trak] through P-Thugg from Chromeo," Van Helden said. "He goes, 'Oh yeah, you gotta meet this guy A-Trak,' and I'm like, 'I've heard of him.' ... When we met, he was just up on the music.

The third day of Wmc 2010 proved to be monstrous. We started our afternoon with a chat with DJ A-Trak, whose highly anticipated Fool's Gold showcase would ultimately close out our night. From there, the day snowballed into controlled insanity as we caught up with Calvin Harris, up and coming artist Burnes, Ngdj winners Maya Vanya, industry sage DJ Dan, rising star Dennis Ferrer, prolific producer/DJ Kaskade, electro rockers Shiny Toy Guns and of course the insanely huge David Guetta. And that was all before lunch.
The afternoon temperatures soared into the 80s and our interviews only got hotter. We had the honor of hosting a long chat with the godfather of all dance music Tiesto and followed that up with chats with Deep Dish member Sharam, fresh and funky DJ Riva Starr and finally the legendary Paul Oakenfold.
