A tearful Toby Turner categorically denied allegations by ex-girlfriend and fellow YouTube star April Fletcher (aka April Efff) that he mentally and physically abused her throughout their relationship, as she detailed in a lengthy Tumblr post on Friday. According to Fletcher, Turner raped her and also drugged her by slipping Molly into her drink in 2013.
In a one-minute video on his vlog channel titled The Truth., Turner responded, “A person I dated a few years ago has just made some extremely serious false accusations about me, and I want to be crystal clear: I have never done anything without her consent. I’ve never tried to trick her into anything. I read her Tumblr post and I was shocked and I was hurt. These allegations are absolutely false. I just wanted to address it. That’s all.”
In the wake of Fletcher’s allegations, several other women have come forward to offer comment.

YouTube has announced a new feature this April Fools’ Day, courtesy of the site’s head of comedy, Ben Relles. “Today we’re excited to announce a feature that people have been asking about since we launched,” says Relles, who plays the company’s director of innovation in an announcement video. “The ability to watch every video in 360 -- with Snoop Dogg.”
YouTube has dubbed the feature SnoopaVision, and says it won’t launch for decades. But today, a beta version has inserted a Snoop icon next to Settings on every YouTube video. Clicking the icon transports users to the prank’s landing page, where the rapper has watched 10 viral videos alongside other famous YouTubers, like Olga Kay and the Double Rainbow guy. As he promised, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back. The actor, along with YouTube talent such as Machinima, Olga Kay, Lilly Singh (aka IISuperwomanII), Matthew Santoro, and Toby Turner, participated in a Terminator-themed web series dubbed Terminator Genisys: The YouTube Chronicles, which debuted on June 22, 2015.
The three-part Terminator Genisys series was created to help promote the upcoming Paramount Pictures film by the same title, which releases in theaters on July 1. In The YouTube Chronicles, a Terminator comes to Earth, takes the form of Turner, and starts trying to kill off influential YouTube stars to change the future. Schwarzenegger and the YouTubers band together to fight for their lives and eliminate the threat once and for all.
The Terminator Genisys web series was unveiled back in April 2015. At the time, little was known about the campaign other than what Santoro, Singh, and the other involved YouTubers posted on their social media accounts.

YouTube Space La was recently overtaken by Skynet, but in a good way. The venue played host to a Terminator-themed campaign involving several popular YouTubers like Olga Kay and Lilly Singh (or IISuperwomanII to the online video masses).
The Terminator campaign shoot took place over three days. In addition to Kay and Singh, YouTube brought in Woody Tondorf of Machinima, Toby Turner, and Matthew Santoro to film promotional videos for the upcoming Terminator: Genisys film from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions. YouTubers Richard Ryan (RatedRR), Joe Penna (MysteryGuitarMan), Kevin Lieber (Vsauce2), Epic Lloyd, and Jack Douglass of Jacksfilms also made cameo appearances.
Kay told Tubefilter Arnold Schwarzenegger even showed up to contribute to the campaign. “There were at least 100 people in the lobby when Arnold arrived on set. I've never seen Youtube Space La being so silent,” Kay said in an email. “Everyone was taking in the Terminator power.

Beachfront Media has some ambitious new plans to develop stronger ties with advertisers. To lead this effort, Beachfront has hired Jeff Chi as the company’s first Vice President of Ad Sales and Monetization.
Chi comes to Beachfront from YouTube multi-channel network Fullscreen, where he was the VP of Monetization. The executive will be in charge of nurturing relationships between advertisers and Beachfront’s publishing network of websites, mobile apps, and digital influencers. Chi will head the ad sales and monetization department in Beachfront’s Los Angeles office, which the company will expand by hiring new sales reps.
Chi hopes to sell ad inventory directly to marketers to more effectively reach Beachfront audiences. A Beachfront representative said Chi hopes to accomplish this goal by offering first-party data, social media targeting, and geo-fencing options to advertising partners. Additionally, Chi is looking to develop a “mobile multi-platform network” (mobile Mpn) using the company’s mobile app platform.

In a land overrun by ruthless creatures that hunt by sound, even the faintest whimper can lead to your death in Tim Lebbon's The Silence, a new horror novel hitting shelves later this month. Titan Books has provided us with an exclusive excerpt from Lebbon's latest to share with Daily Dead readers, and we also have a look at two recent 31 images revealed by Rob Zombie, as well as details on the zombie series, Fight of the Living Dead, which is now available to watch in its entirety on BlackBoxTV.
Tim Lebbon's The Silence: "In the darkness of a underground cave system, blind creatures hunt by sound. Then there is light, there are voices, and they feed... Swarming from their prison, the creatures thrive and destroy. To scream, even to whisper, is to summon death. As the hordes lay waste to Europe, a girl watches to see if they will cross the sea.

Earlier this year, we covered fitness powerhouse Beachbody's "YouTube test group," where a set of top online video creators - including Jack Douglass, Bart Baker, Olga Kay, and Shira Lazar - collectively dropped over 100 pounds and 85 inches by way of Tony Horton's P90 program. The before and after photos seemed too good to be true—commenters cried 'air brush' and 'spray tan.' So when we caught wind of a new class of YouTubers for Beachbody's 21 Day Fix Extreme program with trainer Autumn Calabrese, we had to get an inside look at the process to make sure it was legit.
The new group underwent back-to-back twenty-one day programs and featured Jennifer Veal, SourceFed stars Lee Newton and Steve Zaragoza, Timothy DeLaGhetto, Rick Carter, Shane Dawson, and yours truly. Now the last time I covered a story as an embedded journalist, I did a ridealong with the Good Cops, and things went horribly wrong.

We're thrilled to announce YouTube star Olga Kay will be joining us at the Tubefilter Meetup next Wednesday. Recently featured on the front page of the New York Times business section, Olga has developed several off-Youtube ventures including a mobile app, a monthly subscription box, and MooshWalks, her own line of socks. According to YouTube's Statistics page, almost 40% of YouTube's watch time is on mobile devices. Unfortunately for creators, most mobile YouTube views are not monetized, lowering effective CPMs on payouts that are already declining—the average YouTube Cpm was $7.60 in 2013, down $1.75 from 2012. As creators attempt to build out sustainable business models for online video, mobile platforms have presented promising opportunities to capture, engage, and monetize audiences.

An article in the New York Times has shed light on something that online content creators already know so well: Despite illusions of wealth, making money on YouTube is much harder than the numbers suggest. The article centers around Olga Kay and examines the financial viability of her YouTube career. Kay claims that, through her network of related YouTube channels (which combine for around a million subscribers), she pulls in between $100,000 and $130,000, much of which she must reinvest in her YouTube operation. The most interesting part of the article, however, concerns dwindling CPMs (cost per one thousand ad views) on YouTube. According to data from Tubemogul, the average YouTube Cpm in 2013 was $7.60, down $1.75 from 2012. To the uninitiated, that may seem like a big number, though additional analysis from Tubemogul explains that Cpm isn't as it seems. “It varies a ton, but it wouldn’t usually be more than half, and...

Last year, Vlogbrothers Hank and John Green raised $483,446 through their annual Project For Awesome charity drive. That astounding figure was more than seven times the amount raised in 2011. This year, they've gone ahead and blown 2012 out of the water. Project For Awesome 2013 has concluded, and the online video community has come together to raise a mind-boggling $870,691. That figure includes the $721,696 raised via the Project For Awesome Indiegogo campaign. Donors flocked to the campaign's perks, claiming 5,559 The Fault In Our Stars movie posters, 1,895 Men of YouTube calendars, 40 of Hank Green's shirts, and a partridge in a pear tree. The final total makes Project For Awesome 2013 the most funded video/web campaign in Indiegogo history. The rest of the donations came from anonymous patrons who agreed to match the masses up to certain amounts. The final total will be split among the most popular charities promoted in P4A videos; Wheezy Waiter,...

YouTube personality Taryn Southern is the newest star of the style-focused Look TV channel, where she is the host of two brand new web series. The first of those two debuts to be released is My Domain, a show reminiscent of MTV's Cribs that looks inside the homes of top YouTube creators. Of course, YouTubers have more modest incomes than, say, Ludacris or Lil Wayne, so My Domain could never showcase runaway opulence in the way that has made Cribs as popular as it is. Instead, it takes a more modest approach by featuring its guests video recording setups in a way that also provides tips for up-and-coming creators. The first episode stars Olga Kay, who shows off her well-trained dog in addition to revealing her fine-tuned vlogging studio. Seriously though, her dog is awesome. Three more episodes of My Domain are on the horizon, with Davey Wavey, Brittani Louise Taylor,...

Said stream is below, and it will go live alongside the rest of the event at 11 Pm Est on November 7th, running for an hour. Located in Los Angeles, YouTube's Space La lab was designed to teach YouTubers tricks of the trade, and provide them with a space to make videos as well as attend workshops and seminars. These month-long experiences have a different theme every month, and October's theme saw Space La turning into the Scream Lab - intended to help up-and-coming YouTube channels to produce scary videos for Halloween.
As part of the Scream Lab festivities, a special Zombie Day was held, where artists from the Stan Winston School were brought in to transform the folks from 20 different YouTube channels into flesh-eating walkers. Some of the channels then filmed fun videos in their zombie makeup, quick shorts that showcase their talents as filmmakers.
Check out a couple of the Zombie Day shorts below, and head over to the Space La channel to see more. If you want to watch one of the Halloween...

Halloween is an apt time for the living dead to rise. In order to ensure there are an appropriate number of undead shamblers roaming the Internet on the United States' spookiest day, YouTube Space La hosted a Scream Lab during the month of October, during which creators descended on the Playa Vista facility for a change to undergo a zombie transformation. The Scream Lab featured the work of the Stan Winston School. The studio's monster makers showed up at the Space to apply zombie makeup to participating creators, who were then free to film all sorts of macabre collaborations. The results are available on channels like Third String Kicker, Murderbot, and Madatoms, and the official YouTube Space La channel has offered up some behind-the-scenes videos to show viewers how the Stan Winston professionals created YouTube's horde of the undead. The zombie makeup was the star of Scream Lab, but creators...

Just in time for Halloween… it seems there has been a zombie outbreak on YouTube, and some of your favorite channels have been attacked. Well, at least it looked that way as the undead took over YouTube Space La.
For those unfamiliar with YouTube Space La, it's a "41,000-square foot digital video production and post-production facility and community event space in Los Angeles. Part modern production facility, part collaboration and gathering place, YouTube Space La was established to meet the needs of digital storytellers; a place where YouTube creators are given the time, resources, space and inspiration to evolve and innovate how they tell stories on YouTube, at no charge by YouTube." At least that's according to the A in their Faq!

Olga Kay is known for her unique fashion sense (see the above image for evidence), and she wants to share her style with her fans. The YouTube creator, who counts nearly one million subscribers between her four channels, has signed up as a contributor to Quarterly, through which she will send quadrennial gift packages to her fans. The term 'gift' is a bit of a misnomer, since Quarterly users must pay a fee to sign up to receive each shipment. In Kay's case, each gift will reflect her online personality. "If you've seen me on YouTube, you know I love to review beauty, fashion and video games with my friends," she says on her Quarterly page. "So I'm really excited that with Quarterly, I can now send my favorites straight to my fans. Why go to the store when you don't have to, right? Let me surprise you with a...

We here at Digital Spy have thoroughly enjoyed a new weekly YouTube series dedicated to homemade remakes of classic films.
CineFix's Homemade Movies channel has produced a number of shot-for-shot remakes of movie scenes and trailers, including Lord of the Rings, Star Trek Into Darkness, Iron Man 3 and even One Direction's upcoming 3D movie using sock puppets.
So we had a chat with filmmaker Dustin McLean from the Homemade Movies team to find out more about the project, and what we can expect in future episodes.
So what gave you guys the idea to produce 'homemade' versions of classic movie clips and trailers?
"It's actually something I've done since I was a little kid with a VHS video camera, so after making miscellaneous live action videos on YouTube for a few years I wanted to try working a show around the concept.

One of YouTube's Original Channels has expressed its love for a movie scene we've all seen dozens of times (usually on TNT on a lazy Saturday morning). CineFix, a film related channel from BermanBraun, has released an installment of its Homemade Movies series featuring a lo-tech, shot-for-shot recreation of the bullet dodge scene from The Matrix. In lieu of flashy CG graphics and an epic orchestral score, Homemade Movies makes do with stop-motion effects, an a capella soundtrack, and inventive, budget-friendly special effects. I'm pretty sure this version's bullet sound wave is created by two people stretching out a slinky. Standing in for Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are YouTubers Jeremy Jahns and Olga Kay, who do their best to mimic the actions of the famous scene. In addition to the main video, CineFix has also released a comparison video that matches up the original scene with the remade version.

In celebration of the release of Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken, Thousand Pounds Action Company (the team behind the popular Real Life Ultra Combos and Street Fighter: Beginnings End videos) has released an epic live action film based on the game, showcasing the team’s eye-popping fight choreography and surprisingly impressive cinematography and special effects.
The short film, called The Devil Within, has now been viewed on Youtube over 400k times, and is about a million miles better than both the recent Street Fighter and Tekken films, and comes as part of a four film marketing campaign, which saw Capcom commission four popular Youtubers (the other three being Toby Turner, Mike Dahlquist and Olga Kay).
Here’s the official low-down of the film:

There’s a lot of talk about money in online video lately. Who’s getting licensing deals, 7-figure advances, funding rounds—yet in the hubbub it’s too easy to take our eyes off the broader context of how the internet is reshaping entertainment. Last night in La, at Celebrate the Web’s screening of hastily-made web series pilots was a welcomed reminder that the independent, cooperative, sure-i-can-help-you-out attitude that underlies this whole creative revolution is alive and well. And that’s a very good thing. Sure, it doesn’t hurt that there was some cash on the line—$500 grants to each of the two overall winning teams—along with a development deal with online comedy network My Damn Channel. But ultimately this was as festival about just getting out there any shooting something, rather than just talking about shooting something. Enough burying the lead. Out of the sixteen pilots in the competition,...
