Once set up at the Max streaming service, the TV series Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25, is now calling Netflix its home, having moved away from Max last year because it “doesn’t fit with DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the Dcu.” Netflix has set an April 25th premiere date for the show, and with that date just a few weeks away, a trailer has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above to see the titular characters deal with paranormal cases while My Chemical Romance plays on the soundtrack.
Since these characters were introduced in the comic book The Sandman, it seems fitting that they ended up on Netflix, as the streamer is also home to the live-action The Sandman series.

CBS’s Tracker premiered after the Super Bowl, a time slot that usually benefits from having the Big Game as a lead-in. Unfortunately, this year’s Super Bowl went into overtime, which meant episode one was delayed on the East Coast until 11pm. After the ratings were revealed, it turned out the late start did not affect viewership, with the series premiere bringing in 18.4 million viewers. That makes Tracker the most-watched primetime entertainment program after the Super Bowl since 2021’s debut of The Equalizer.
Episode two, “Missoula,” settles into the series’ regular time slot, airing on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 9pm Et/Pt. Justin Hartley leads the cast as Colter Shaw, Fiona Rene plays Reenie Green, and Robin Weigert is Teddi. Abby McEnany stars as Velma and Eric Graise is Bobby Exley.

Sabrina Wu’s family and friends didn’t really comprehend that they were starring in the raunchy comedy “Joy Ride” alongside Ashley Park, Stephanie Hsu and Sherry Colauntil until the movie hit theaters. Before then, the stand-up comic’s only Hollywood job was as a writer on Disney+’s “Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.” “I remember calling my dad and telling him I got the part,” Wu tells me. “This is verbatim what he said: ‘Sabrina, I can’t wait to show you my new car.’ It went right over his head because it was too bizarre.”
Like their character Deadeye, the 25-year-old Wu uses “they/them” pronouns. They asked that Deadeye not have a big coming-out scene about their gender identity. “I definitely begged them to do it that way because I don’t think this R-rated comedy needed a moment where I’m like, ‘Hey, guys, I’m nonbinary.

He took a strictly behind-the-scenes role on the film, the directorial debut of Crazy Rich Asians writer Adele Lim. But the raunchy humor in the film — which sees a group of Asian-American women embarking on a wild road trip across China — wouldn’t feel out of place in the films Rogen made with his mentor, Judd Apatow. And, as a producer, Rogen says that was exactly the kind of film he and producing partner Evan Goldberg wanted to make. Someone didn’t get the memo. A 10-year-old-ish boy sat down with his mom in my row at the press/word-of-mouth screening, and it took maybe five minutes before the woman sitting next to the mom filled her in on Joy Ride. Although Paramount+’s School Spirits episode five ended with Maddie and Simon discovering a secret way out of the basement, episode six begins with a heated discussion about jocks. Simon (Kristian Flores) can’t believe Maddie (Peyton List) said yes to going to the homecoming dance with Wally. Maddie, understandably, wants to steer the conversation back to her murder.

Mr. Anderson has no idea Maddie’s got his phone and is trying out passwords.
She begs Simon (Kristian Flores) to tell Mr. Anderson (Patrick Gilmore) to check his email. But Simon knows that would look weird and doesn’t comply. Instead, he seizes the opportunity as the bell rings to grab Mr. Anderson’s phone without being seen and races from the classroom.

In our Q&a series Popsugar Crush, we get to know some of our favorite celebs' more intimate details - from their ideal first date to their most romantic gesture. This month, we're crushing on "School Spirits" star Milo Manheim.
Milo Manheim is playing dead. Literally. In the actor's new Paramount+ series, "School Spirits," Manheim embodies an '80s jock à la Emilio Estevez's Andrew Clark in "The Breakfast Club," ruling over his high school hallways with equal parts charm and vapidness. The twist, though, is that Manheim's Wally is deceased - long deceased. Wally is one of a handful of ghosts trapped in the afterlife. And while he's seemingly made peace with being confined to the bleachers and reliving his football heyday, Wally is forced to buck up in the first few episodes of "School Spirits" that are now streaming: he must...

Mr. Anderson’s stalking behavior places him on the suspect list as Paramount+’s School Spirits episode three begins. He refuses to tell Simon (Kristian Flores) why he was lurking in the auto shop, and Simon’s spidey sense is tingling like crazy.
Maddie (Peyton List), on the other hand, refuses to consider Mr. Anderson a suspect. He bent over backward to help her out when she was alive and seemed to genuinely care about her, not just as a teacher but as a human being.
Angry mom Sandra heads to Sheriff Baxter’s house and demands to know why he’s called off the searches and only has one deputy assigned to Maddie’s case. She believes it’s because he’s worried about his upcoming election.

Milo Mannheim, Nick Pugliese, Peyton List, and Sarah Yarkin in ‘School Spirits’ episode 2
Paramount+’s School Spirits episode two picks up with Maddie (Peyton List) shocked that Simon (Kristian Flores) can see her. Charley (Nick Pugliese) is equally surprised and says, “Holy f**k,” after witnessing the exchange.
Being able to talk to the living has never happened before in the history of Split River High School. All three have a million questions, and Maddie immediately clears up the mystery of her phone. Simon doesn’t understand why Xavier was texting Claire, and Maddie explains they were secretly hooking up.
Nicole (Kiara Pichardo) barges in and can’t see Maddie. Simon doesn’t admit he’s talking to a ghost, and Maddie prompts Simon to go with Nicole to search for her body because they all need answers.

Peyton List, Josh Zuckerman, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, and Milo Mannheim in ‘School Spirits’ season 1 episode 1
Maddie’s life was cut short, but that’s almost not the worst part of being dead. Since she was murdered at her high school, Maddie’s stuck spending every minute of the afterlife roaming Split River High’s halls. Talk about being trapped in hell! Paramount+’s School Spirits follows Maddie as she attempts to solve her own murder while learning to exist (not live) with other ghosts doomed to high school purgatory.
Episode one, “My So-Called Death,” finds Maddie watching from the bleachers as the school’s assembled to discuss her disappearance. It’s obvious Maddie wasn’t the most popular student – self-involved cheerleaders can’t even remember her name – but at least her two BFFs and boyfriend are upset that she’s gone.

Jo Koy as Joe Valencia in Easter Sunday, directed by Jay Chandrasekhar. Ed Araquel/Universal Pictures Though he was born in Washington state, Jo Koy is proud of his Filipino heritage. So, when he was approached about playing the lead in the movie Easter Sunday, Koy wanted to make sure that the film — which takes place amidst a Filipino family’s holiday reunion — wasn’t going to perpetuate any of the cultural stereotypes he’s seen in the past. He was delighted, he told us, to find that, while there are certainly some uniquely Filipino moments in the film, the writers and producers did a great job of making sure the laughs came from family situations, not ethnic jokes. The second season of AMC’s horror anthology “The Terror” centers a story rarely told in the American mainstream — the mass incarceration of Japanese-Americans during World War II. But for many of those involved with the show, the story is a personal one.
“I’ve done a few other projects that have taken place in the internment camps,” said “Greek” alum Derek Mio, who stars in “The Terror: Infamy” as Chester Nakayama, a young man whose family is uprooted and imprisoned along with 120,000 other people of Japanese ancestry. “But it was just kind of chilling to see the parallels between the character and my grandfather.”
The series uses Southern California’s Terminal Island — Mio’s grandfather’s actual hometown — and the once-thriving Japanese immigrant community there as its entry point. A particularly emotional scene in the first episode sees Chester’s father being forcibly taken by the FBI for questioning,...

Its limited theatrical release over the Christmas holiday weekend may not have been ideal for all moviegoers, but millions of people still ponied up to see "The Interview" -- from the comfort of their own homes.
According to data release by Sony, the controversial comedy scored a whopping $15 million debut online through various streaming and VOD channels. More than 2 million people either rented or bought the film through Google Play, YouTube, or Xbox, Sony said.
Those numbers make "The Interview" Sony's highest-grossing online release of all time. It also brought in approximately $2.8 million from 331 independent theaters over the four-day weekend.
While that theatrical gross is a far cry from what Sony initially expected from the Seth Rogen and James Franco-starring comedy, the online numbers are a good sign for the studio, which has struggled in recent weeks. The nationwide release of the movie was scrapped altogether by Sony following...

A new red band trailer for "The Interview," in which Seth Rogen and James Franco are recruited to assassinate Kim Jong-un, takes advantage of its opportunity to show off the flick's dirtiest, most vulgar jokes -- and makes the high-concept comedy appear even more appealing.
The clip is packed with filthy quips about a bald-headed Rob Lowe resembling a certain member of the male anatomy, and an extended scene in which Franco enjoys sniffing ... well, something we can't print here. But suffice it to say, it got our attention.

Supernatural is taking us for a bit of spin through time in its Jan. 30 episode, “In the Beginning.” The episode will delve a little further into Sam and Dean’s family history, but this time on their dad’s side. We’ve come to know plenty about the Campbells and how coldhearted they can be, but the Winchesters have remained mostly a mystery. We’ve met John, the boys’ father – both young and old versions – and have a good sense of his story from the time he met his wife, Mary, to how he came to be a hunter. But what about John’s father? Well, he is precisely who we’re going to be meeting and you can see him in the promo images for “In the Beginning.”

Fresh off of some new Supernatural season 8 casting news we now have the season premiere, titled “We Need To Talk About Kevin”, episode image gallery from the CW. Of course, the Dean and Sam, the famed Winchester brothers, played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, are prominent in the batch that offers more looks teased to us by the preview from earlier in the month.
We also get a look at Kevin, who for all of you non-Supernatural fans, is a prophet, and has some information about Crowley, who probably doesn’t want anything to do with a key that seals demons away forever (which means he probably does – Crowley is nice like that).
Supernatural’s eighth season kicks off at the CW on October 3rd.
