Technically, this show was a summer return, but it’s still on our radar as a must-listen as new episodes continue to roll out. For too long, American sketch comedy has been so dominated by “Saturday Night Live” that any other attempts at the form have seemed futile. The trick to not competing directly with the NBC behemoth seems to be to addressing a niche audience that is sorely underserved by the mainstream, such as Comedy Central’s “Key and Peele,” IFC’s “Portlandia,” and now, the brilliant “Baroness Von Sketch Show,” also on IFC. The network bought the series from the CBC, and has been airing the first two seasons for American audiences who are hungry for something different.
Now in the middle of its IFC run, “Baroness Von Sketch Show” is written and performed by Aurora Browne, Meredith MacNeill, Carolyn Taylor, and Jennifer Whalen. Browne, Taylor, and Whalen met at Second City in Toronto, and MacNeill is a classically trained actor who came to comedy after studying at Rada. While the show has a decidedly woman-centric bent,...

We’re dangerously close to the release of “The Lego Batman Movie,” the spin-off of 2014’s “The Lego Movie” and the second installment in the planned “Lego” cinematic universe, and no matter the medium in which its world, a Batman movie simply can’t exist without a cool theme song to go along with it.
The last time we saw the Lego rendering of Batman (Will Arnett), he was a hilariously pompous, brooding, and gravelly-voiced blowhard, so it makes sense that his film’s title theme is appropriately self-congratulating. With his track “Who’s The (Bat)Man,” Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump takes on singing duties.

With screeching guitar solos, screamo-inspired vocals, and callbacks to the original Batman theme, the song is one humblebrag after the next, and very much fits with the Dark Knight’s sensibilities.

Tegan and Sara weren’t kidding when they said they were making a music video for every song off their latest album, Love You To Death. Nearly three weeks after dropping the clip for “White Knuckles,” the duo are back with a video for “Stop Desire.”
The clip marks the eighth video to release from the record, and the song is one of the catchiest in the band’s entire catalog. The video itself is light hearted and humorous, as Tegan and Sara go about their day whilst everyone around them has a bit of a dirty mind. Tegan and Sara have solidified themselves as one of the most consistent, most prolific groups in pop music over the past ten years, and their music video for “White Knuckles” is helping out their case even more.

With three songs left on the record without a treatment, it’s a safe bet that they’ll be making videos for the whole thing, which is just a little bit insane.

As part of last year’s Xoxo Festival, Lisa Hanawalt of “BoJack Horseman” gave a moving presentation on her creative process and the years of work leading up her to breakthrough on the animated Netflix comedy. “I’m a bad artist. I’m lazy and untalented and bad” the production designer says as a self-deprecating introduction, though it’s quickly made clear that the emotions behind the statement are genuine: Hanawalt details the negative feelings that sometimes inspire her work, saying that “feeling like shit” is part of her process.

Musical duo Tegan and Sara released the music video for their track “Hang on to the Night,” which might catch the eye of “Bojack Horseman” fans. The two rock some major similarities – especially since the star of the clip is an animated horse – and that’s because the clip was directed and illustrated by Lisa Hanawalt, production designer and producer for the Netflix comedy.
The singing-songwriting sisters reached out to Hanawalt and entrusted her with the creative direction for the video. “When [Lisa] sent me her drawings, I already felt very realized, as if she saw me,” Sara told Nylon. The song was a response to a number of sudden deaths in the sibling’s family and their anxiety about morality. The video explores, both literally and figuratively, the “regenerative” aspect of the night. “If you can manage to hang on, you can face another day,” Sara added.

Tegan and Sara debuted their pulsating new single "Boyfriend" Tuesday on The Tonight Show. The duo harmonized atop tinny percussion about the pain of secret relationships.
The performance came one day after the band's May 9th show at New York City's Le Poisson Rouge, which capped off a trio of American dates. Tegan and Sara will commence a 40-date, headlining North American tour on September 9th in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Will Arnett kicked off his Lip Sync Battle with Alison Brie by – as host LL Cool J noted – "trying to answer that immortal question, 'Who Let the Dogs Out?'" Decked out in a purple track suit, the actor tackled Baha Men's canine-themed, Grammy-winning 2000 single, the only Top 40 hit to feature the lyric "flea-infested mongrel."
Arnett obscures his face with the microphone during the performance, possibly because he doesn't know all the lyrics. But his charisma wins out in the end. "You gotta be an incredible dancer," he tells...

Everything really will be awesome when Will Arnett takes the Lip Sync Battle stage for the show's return on Thursday. While many celebs opt for classic hip-hop hits (ahem, Arnett's competitor Alison Brie), the Arrested Development star went full kid zone for his take on the theme song from last year's The Lego Movie by Tegan and Sara featuring The Lonely Island. Channeling the ensemble's original epic performance during the Academy Awards, the 45-year-old funnyman—who voiced Batman in the Lego flick—sports a bright orange construction suit and hard hat while a team of similarly dressed backup dancers rock out behind him. After busting out the robot, Arnett...

Tegan and Sara's unusually intense relationship with their fans was forged in the duo's early days the old fashioned way: "We'd hang out all night talking to people," Tegan Quin explains. "By the time we actually had real fans, that was how we thought you did a show." So much of their own performances involved confessional storytelling (about each other, for the most part) that it opened the door for fans to share back: "We created relationships with these people and they told us their stories." How does a bond... Read the rest of Dear Tegan and Sara: Inside the Band's Unique Bond With Fans at RollingStone.com...

For the second year in a row, Fandango sent Marcus Johns to the Oscars, and once again, the Viner's trip to the red carpet provided both charming and awkward moments. During his time at Hollywood's Dolby Theater, Johns chatted with several prominent actors, directors, and musicians while also bothering many more.
Fandango gave Johns a microphone, set him loose on Hollywood, and collected his best moments in a video released on the Movieclips Trailers channel. Among other highlights, he took a selfie with Best Supporting Actor J.K. Simmons, sang "Everything Is Awesome" with nominees Tegan and Sara, and shook Clint Eastwood's hand, at which he exclaimed that he "can just die." Along the way, several other celebrities decided not to give the young Vine star any attention. We're sorry that Rosamund Pike lied to you, Marcus.

Tegan and Sara.s "Everything Is Awesome" Oscars performance was the craziest moment from one of the dullest awards ceremonies of recent memory. The duo got up on the Oscars stage on Sunday to perform their hit, Oscar-nominated song from The Lego Movie, and they weren.t alone. While there were a ton of dancers, Questlove and an "awesome possum," you might have missed Will Arnett. But you definitely didn.t miss what he was wearing. You saw the man in the Val Kilmer-inspired Batman suit, right? He was standing next to Questlove rockin. out on a guitar. According to Chris Miller, who co-directed The Lego Movie with Phil Lord, that was Arnett. He revealed this fun fact on Twitter during the show. Fun Fact: @arnettwill was wearing Val Kilmer's Batman suit from Batman Forever. Really. #EverythingIsAwesome #Oscars. Prepare to have Everything is Awesome stuck in your head again, as last night's Oscars played host to a massive performance by Tegan and Sara, with The Lonely Island along for the ride, of The Lego Movie's unbelievably catchy ear worm. It may not received an Oscar nod for Best Animated Film, but all the stops were pulled out for its sole nomination, Best Song. It may have lost to Selma's Glory, but you can't deny this performance, including dancing construction workers and Will Arnett in a Batman suit, is, indeed, awesome.

The Academy Awards are over for another year, and it was a somewhat less predictable, more feisty show than we're used to, with winners making political statements and striking back against the widely-dreaded 'get off the stage' music.
But there was plenty of groan-worthy moments to get worked up about alongside the fun, and for those of you who are mentally stable enough not to have watched the entire thing live, we've picked out 13 of the night's highs and lows.
1. Pawel Pawlikowski defeats the play-off orchestra - Best
If you apply traditional rules of narrative to the Oscars, the protagonists and antagonists are pretty clear. Our plucky heroes are the bright-eyed, breathless winners, and the villain of the piece is without question that malevolent orchestra that's always cutting their speeches short. In 2013, they even played the Jaws music, just in case you needed further proof.
But Ida director Pawel Pawlikowski...

Oprah Winfrey won at the Academy Awards Sunday night ... scoring the Oscar everybody wanted ... the Lego variety. She wasn't the only one ... during the performance of "Everything is Awesome" by Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island, dancers dolled out Lego Oscars to stars like Oprah, Clint Eastwood, Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, and others. "The Lego Movie" may have been snubbed but they got their sweet revenge. One thing's for sure ... those statues are awesome.

Revenge isn’t best served cold. It’s best served awesome.
The Lego Movie may have been (inexcusably, unexplainably, unforgivably) snubbed in the Best Animated Feature category, but the movie still left its mark on the Academy Awards, with an awesome, everything-and-the-lego-cowboys-too performance.
Since the movie’s theme song, “Everything Is Awesome,” did earn a nomination in the Best Original Song category, Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island got to take the stage and perform amid dancing construction workers, astronauts, and at least one giant furry critter.
News: Here are the best moments from Neil Patrick Harris’ opening number!
Plus, there were a few special cameos. Like Will Arnett as Batman:
Yes, that really is Arnett under that Lego batsuit! He voiced him in the movie -- and will voice him again in a spinoff -- but we weren’t expecting him to be jamming on the guitar tonight, so that was...
