The show features Dimple Kapadia, Radhikka Madan, Angira Dhar, Isha Talwar, and Deepak Dobriyal. It narrates the story of a family led by a fearless matriarch who operates the largest drug business in South Asia.
“Dimple (Kapadia) has been in all my projects, but I honestly believe that, as the matriarch Savitri, she showcased her best work till date! Surrounding her with a stellar, eclectic cast like Radhikka Madan, Angira Dhar,...

Renowned Indian actor Dimple Kapadia (“Tenet”) is enjoying a blockbuster 2022-23 with everything she touches turning to gold.
Kapadia had a pivotal role in Disney’s 2022 mythological superhero film “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva.” In 2023, the actor had meaty roles in two of the year’s biggest Bollywood hits, “Pathaan” and “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.” And, taking a leaf from the Helen Mirren playbook, Kapadia took an action-heavy headline role in streamer Disney+ Hotstar’s patriarchy shattering drama series “Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo,” which released in May.
The series revolves around four women, the matriarch Savitri (Kapadia), her daughters-in-law and her daughter, who live in a forgotten village in the northwest of India. Savitri runs the Rani Cooperative, trading in products ranging from balms to textiles. But everything here isn’t what it seems – the cottage business is a front for the biggest drug cartel in South Asia.

Isha Talwar has been getting a lot of rave reviews for her Rajasthani look in her latest show, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo. The actress revealed that her prime reference for getting the look right was the 1993 classic movie Rudaali. which had Dimple Kapadia in the lead. Not only was the look in the show her reference but also motivated to recreate the exact look of Dimple Kapadia for a shoot she did. For Isha, it was an honour to be adapting Dimple’s look while she shared the screen space with the veteran actress herself.
Isha says, “The story is based in Rajasthan and so my character, Badi Bahu, has a particular kind of dressing. To get the look right, my prime source of reference is Dimple ma’am’s look in Rudaali. Post the show, I wanted to recreate the exact look that Dimple Ma’am had in the show.

Actress Isha Talwar, who is receiving good response to her streaming show ‘Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo’, got to work with the director of the series, Homi Adajania, eight years after their earlier collaboration did not take off.
The actress heaped praise on Homi, calling him an intuitive director.
She said: “There is something very nice about working with Homi, he is definitely more intuitive than most directors I’ve had an opportunity to work with. I remember when we were shooting the big family sequence where Bijilee is doing some major 1,000 crore maths, she made my maths better, Homi just left the monitor and came and sat in the room which for me was very refreshing.”

Mumbai, May 2 (Ians) Veteran star Dimple Kapadia is happy to see the female roles evolving as today’s female characters have their own flaws.
Dimple said: “Firstly, it’s high time that we stop calling films and series – male centric or female centric. These are stories in itself, irrespective of the gender of the lead cast, they are stories beyond gender, region and cultures that need to be spoken about and celebrated.”
She added: “However, I am thrilled that stories with dynamic female relationships are evolving and we are seeing women in new characters in every form. Moving beyond the quintessential heroine, today’s female characters have their own flaws, they are much more layered and are now even doing action, just like men in Saas Bahu aur Flamingo!”

Actor Vikam Pratap, who is known for his work in the streaming film ‘Darlings’, and has worked as a dialect coach, with Sanjay Mishra, Tillottama Shome, Pankaj Tripathi and Neetu Kapoor, will be soon seen in the upcoming streaming show ‘Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo’. For his part in the series, the actor starved himself and spent nights in the biting cold.
The character proved to be quite draining both mentally and physically for the actor.
Talking about the show’s story, Vikram said, “The story depicts two gangs of drug dealers out of which one gang is headed by Savitri (played by Dimple Kapadia) compromising her bahus and the another gang headed by Deepak Dobriyal of which I’m a part of. So I basically work for him along with my brother. That’s all I can say for now. I bagged this role through an audition by Casting Bay.

Remakes are a tricky thing to get right. You can wait fifty years or five minutes before adapting someone else's work in the current cinematic climate, and Bollywood wasted no time in bringing Lokesh Kanagaraj's Tamil-language 2019 hit “Kaithi” back to life. The tale of an ex-convict father being thwarted on a mission to visit his daughter has been resurrected by Ajay Devgn, utilising the same plot as both a star vehicle for himself and a chance to flex his growing directorial muscles. And it is a muscular concept to work with; the backbone of both “Kaithi” and “Bholaa” recalls Henri-Georges Clouzot's “The Wages of Fear”, “Con Air” And “Assault on Precinct 13”, all action classics ripe for exploration and experimentation, especially when mixed up with one another. But like the narrative driving force of the Clouzot picture, Devgn has to be careful driving this twisty, treacherous road with...

The upcoming streaming series, ‘Saas Bahu aur Flamingo’, the teaser of which was unveiled on Wednesday, will present the dynamics of saas-bahu relationship in a new way with four women running a business empire and owning the power game.
The series boasts of a stellar female cast including Dimple Kapadia, Radhika Madan, Angira Dhar, and Isha Talwar along with a talented ensemble comprising of Ashish Verma, Varun Mitra, Udit Arora, Deepak Dobriyal and Monica Dogra.
Actress Dimple Kapadia said in a statement: “‘Saas Bahu aur Flamingo’ is difficult for me to explain as a journey because it’s not like anything I have seen or done before. When tragedy strikes and the world turns its back on her, Savitri doesn’t curl up and die, but rises from the ashes and creates her own destiny. This is what I love about her character. She owns her alternate sense of morality.

Bholaa
There is nothing bhola (innocent) about Bholaa. A bloodthirsty shrieking yarn of a film . A mayhem-filled masala dossier of crime and adventure that Lokesh Kanagraj made into a Tamil feast of fury Kaithi, now ours to appreciate in an adapted form ostensibly palatable to Ajay Devgn’s fans in the cow belt. Moo power to the adaptive gang.
Apart from one major radical change from the original, Bholaa is as faithful to the original as any banquet of bloodshed can be. For those who came in late the eponymous Bholaa, played by the producer-director Mr. Devgn (is that how he spells his name these days?) is out from jail after ten years (why ten? Why not twelve?) to meet his infinitely cute daughter Jyoti(Hirva Trivedi).
The interludes between the father and daughter on the phone are the only soft spots in an otherwise tough and obdurate action film...

Director: Ajay Devgn. Cast: Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra and Gajraj Singh.
Cinematography: Aseem Bajaj. Music: Ravi Basnur.
Ians Rating: ****
Action is a wide-open genre and term, and when one endeavours to include an emotion-filled tale into the matrix, it sure does have a strong appeal to movie watchers cutting across demographics.
In his newest directorial, the actioner ‘Bholaa’, Ajay Devgn relooks and redefines the ‘Man on a Mission’ exercise with overwhelming fervour, grit and determination. And the best part is that for him, his awe-inspiring task seems
like some kind of an errand he has been made to run.
And so, when Inspector Diana (Tabu in yet another impressive cop role) confiscates a consignment of cocaine, obviously, the euphoria of the entire police force at her thana knows no bounds. But after downing a few drinks their elation is shor-tlived, when during the celebrations itself, senior officer...

Bholaa is an action thriller produced and directed by Ajay Devgn, an adaptation of the 2019 Tamil film ‘Kaithi’. The film is especially made for the audience who crave for hard core actioners. It is also apparent that the writers were more focused on creating action sequences though it had a great plot at hand too! I take this liberty to state that the hero of the film is the action designers for their imaginative choreography.
Plot
Ips Diana Joseph (Tabu) has busted a huge drug consignment and is expecting the worst from the drug lords, who have sprung into action and want the drugs and the officer. As the turn of events had to be, most of the top police officers are spiked during a top officer’s retirement get together. Diana doesn’t drink hence saved. Mumbai, March 29 (Ians) Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn, who is currently busy with the run-up to the release of his upcoming directorial ‘Bholaa’, recently shared his experience of directing Tabu in the film. Both the actors have collaborated on numerous occasions as co-actors or in the capacity of actor-director.
Talking about directing Tabu, Ajay said: “She is very spontaneous; that’s what I like about her. Apart from that, she takes to the tone so perfectly that you don’t need to take it any further as a director. There is an emotional scene between Bholaa and Tabu’s character Diana where I think she’s done a fabulous job.”
The director-actor also spoke about the equipment used in ‘Bholaa’. He told IMDb during the segment ‘On The Scene’: “We’ve created different kinds of cameras in-house to align with the budgets of an Indian film. We designed robotic cameras...

Mumbai, March 26 (Ians) Actor Deepak Dobriyal has talked about playing a negative character in the Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Bholaa’ and revealed the female actor with whom he would love to share screen space in movies.
Deepak said: “Every actor tries to explore different styles of acting to hone their skills and hence I wanted to play this character. To get into the character, for almost a year I sort of changed my personality just to fit into the character better. So, I had stopped saying sorry, thank you, or greeting anyone, and this made me appear slightly more aggressive. But this doesn’t change the fact that I am a kind person, but when it comes to the role, I have to embody the character’s traits.”
“On screen, I would like to have a romantic relationship with Tabu ji. She is such a talented and fun actress. My film...

Mumbai, March 24 (Ians) Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn recalled the era of the 90s and shared how he has done several movies without even getting proper script.
He has also shared his experiences when the writer used to come to give a narration and they used to act out their script as if they were auditioning.
Ajay, who has delivered several hits in the 90s including ‘Phool Aur Kaante’, ‘Jigar’, ‘Suhaag’, ‘Diljale’, ‘Pyar To Hona Hi Tha’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, among others, made a comparison of that era from today, and said that certain times he used to be given idea about a particular scene without specific script.
He said: “In the early 90s, it was not uncommon for directors to give actors a general idea of the scene and then allow them to improvise their lines and actions without a specific script. I have even performed in such movies as well.

Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming directorial ‘Bholaa’, will attend the Odi match between India and Australia at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium on Friday.
With roughly two weeks to the film’s release, Ajay is leaving no stone unturned to promote the film and his attendance at the game is a testimony to that. Nothing moves India like its cricket and its cinema and when the two meet, the excitement goes beyond berserk.
This is the first Odi between the two nations that are known to be champions at the game. While India has earned the reputation of a team with an explosive line-up of batsmen, Australia commands equal proficiency in all its departments.
