[Note: With the film now out on DVD in the UK, here's a reposting of our review of White Space, aka Beyond White Space, from its Us VOD release back in January]
In space Moby Dick can hear you scream…
White Space introduces us to the idea of the titular “white space” and that is, areas of space that somehow have remarkable healing properties that they can imbue on anyone who passed into them (for some reason). The only problem is there are space leviathans that protect them (for some reason). Our opening scene takes us 20 something years into the past for us to see a boy lose his dad to the space monsters. So, revenge it is then.
We have Moby Dick in space, revenge for revenge’s sake as it were.

Jessie Kanhweiler’s series of shorts finds the humour in a young feminist film-maker struggling with bulimia
Jessie Kahnweiler’s Sundance debut is a film about a female artist trying to break through into the mainstream while struggling with a drug addict ex-boyfriend, an overbearing mother, and a years-long struggle with bulimia. Sounds like your typical indie movie drama, right? Well, too bad this isn’t a movie, it’s a web series made for Refinery 29, a lifestyle site aimed at millennial women. Oh, and it’s not a drama at all, it’s a comedy.
The Skinny, a series of six episodes around 10-minutes long released to the public concurrent to its festival debut, follows a wannabe feminist YouTube star also named Jessie as she tries to strike it big in the cut-throat world of social media influencers. Just to make life even harder, her boyfriend Cole (Spencer Hill...

Coming off the success of their Liam Neeson-vs.-nature thriller The Grey, Inferno Entertainment has their sights on developing yet another adrenaline pumper. The company is optioning author Harlan Coben’s 2008 bestseller Hold Tight, and if the excellent French adaptation of his suspense=filled novel Tell No One is any indication, the deal should prove interesting. [Variety]
For a screenwriter, Inferno has tapped TV writer Scott F. Butler to adapt the story, which follows a family as they discover the deadly secrets surrounding their seemingly peaceful suburb. Coben will act as an executive producer on the project along with Christian Halsey Solomon. Steve Lee Jones of Bee Holder Productions will also produce, along with Bill Johnson, Jim Seibel, D.J. Gugenheim and Campbell McInnes of Inferno.
This is the second book this year that Inferno will bring to the big screen – they’re also producing an adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer...

Circle of Eight, from Paramont Pictures, will release on DVD as of February 2nd and despite being targeted for "young teens" the promotional material does have a hook (Horror). Circle of Eight was previously a web series on Myspace, but now the DVD will be on Netflix queues and DVD store shelves shortly. Also described by the movie review website Horror.com as "decent enough to watch all the way through, once, if you have to" and "[but] why bother?" With this stellar review you know that you will be getting the cream of the crop in Circle of Eight, but if that is not enough central character Jessica can be heard screaming her lungs out in 5.1 Dolby Digital. As well, several featurettes included in the DVD will entice some to purchase and Circle of Eight will be provided in Widescreen. All the visually traumatizing details are inside.
