NBCUniversal is rolling out the red carpet for Wynonna Judd.
The country music star is set to receive the Country Champion Award later this month at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards, which are set to air across NBC and Peacock on September 28. That’s not all. Judd will also host Christmas at the Opry for the network on December 7.
Both events will originate from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
“Wynonna is one of the most recognized and lauded performers in country music,” said Cassandra Tryon, Senior Vice President, Live Events, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “Not only is she incredibly talented, her selflessness and passion for putting the needs of others in the spotlight is unmatched. We can’t think of a better person to honor as our inaugural ‘Country Champion’ and to celebrate the holidays with across these two major country music events.”

Chicago – “Blue Valentine” director Derek Cianfrance is happily married now with two young children, but the road getting there was turbulent and sometimes still is. While that’s real life, romance films often end with the lucky guy getting the pretty girl and them living happily ever.
By contrast, “Blue Valentine” is often much more, well, blue. More important, it’s just genuinely real. The romantic drama feels somewhat like a fly-on-the-wall documentary (Cianfrance’s primary experience is in TV documentaries) even though it’s not billed or scripted that way. It understands the true dichotomy between our happy and heavy hearts. The film, which was released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 10, 2011, is one of the best movies of 2010 that didn’t win an Oscar.
