Hope Runs High has acquired U.S. rights to Augusto Sandino’s sophomore feature “A Vanishing Fog,” which won the SXSW Zeiss cinematography prize. The film is slated for an early 2024 opening in U.S. theaters. It’s the first feature to be shot in Colombia’s Sumapaz Páramo, the largest ecosystem of its kind in the world.
“In the middle of the staggering and endangered Sumapaz Paramo ecosystem; F, a solitary explorer, strives to protect the mystical and fragile land he inhabits, while caring for his ailing father,” the synopsis reads.
“Augusto Sandino’s incredible blend of playful surrealism and the overwhelming individuality of the environment in which the film is set has stayed with me since my first viewing. I believe his ability to balance visual scale, cinematic playfulness, and true heart make him an artist we should be engaging with frequently,” said Hope Runs High curator Taylor Purdee.

Harare, July 22 (Ians) Opening batter Hazratullah Zazai was the hero as the Durban Qalandars registered their second win of the inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 cricket tournament, as they swatted away the challenge of the Joburg Buffaloes with relative ease, winning by 7 wickets with 5 balls to spare.
Batting first, the Joburg Buffaloes got off to a fine start with Tom Banton firing on all cylinders. However, after a 22-run opening stand, Will Smeed was knocked over for 1 by George Linde. In walked the very experienced skipper Mohammad Hafeez and joined Banton.
Banton continued to attack from his end, while Hafeez held up the other. The duo put on 18 runs together before Hafeez was dismissed for 11. The Durban Qalandars were on the hunt for more quick wickets, however, Mushfiqur Rahim and Banton came together and thwarted the bowlers, putting together a good 35-run stand for the third wicket.

Co-directed by Bay Dariz (“Hypochondriac”) and Phil Earnest, “Pencils Vs Pixels” is a celebration of 2D hand-drawn animation.

Kolkata, April 29 (Ians) Noor Ahmed and Joshua Little were impressive in taking two wickets in middle overs while Vijay Shankar stepped up at the right time to overcome a scare in middle overs and smash a blazing 51 off just 24 balls to lead Gujarat Titans to top of the Ipl 2023 points table with a seven-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Saturday.

Ahmedabad, April 17 (Ians) Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya’s bowling changes, especially in the death overs in the match against Rajasthan Royals are being questioned with the likes of Virender Sehwag, Amol Muzumdar and Tom Moody feeling the Titans skipper erred by not giving another over to Mohit Sharma.
Mohit Sharma had bowled two overs for just seven runs in the second half of the Rajasthan Royals’ chase of a 178-run target. Spooky season is still six months away but the folks behind the “Spirit Halloween” movie – yes, the one based on the ubiquitous October pop-up store, which Variety exclusively revealed last month – have given Variety an exclusive sneak peek at the first images of Christopher Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook on set as well as more plot details.
In “Spirit Halloween,” Lloyd (best known as Doc Brown in “Back to the Future”) plays wealthy land developer Alec Windsor. Decades ago, one Halloween night, Windsor disappeared without a trace and ever since his cursed spirit is said to haunt the town each year on October 31 for one hour.
Meanwhile Cook (“He’s All That”) plays Sue, who has recently remarried after her husband passed away. When a Spirit Halloween store pops up in an abandoned strip mall, Sue’s teenage son Jake and his friends decide to spend the night there for a dare.

Screen Daily reports that Raven Banner Enterainment has optioned Barker's short story "Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testament," which originally appeared in his anthology novel The Books of Blood. Many stories from the anthology have been turned into feature films in the past, including Rawhead Rex and Midnight Meat Train.
