Buck and Bubbles were stride piano and tap dance team Ford Lee "Buck"
Washington (1903-1955)and John "Bubbles" Sublett (1902-1986). The duo
headlined vaudeville shows around the country, and played major venues
including Radio City Music Hall and the London Palladium.
Sublett was a major innovator, often referred to as the Father of
Rhythm Tap. He is credited with being the first to drop his heels,
whereas previous tappers stayed on their toes.
