Eight-time Grammy winning songwriter and record producer Philip Lawrence, who’s worked with Adele, Flo Rida, Wiz Khalifa and CeeLo Green, but is best known for his hitmaking association with The Smeezingtons — a no-longer-together songwriting team comprising Lawrence, Ari Levine and Bruno Mars — has hoisted his glamorously appointed apartment in New York’s Lincoln Square area on the market at $8.25 million.
Lawrence, also part of Shampoo Press & Curl — another Grammy-winning songwriting/producing team with his wife, celebrity stylist/fashion designer Urbana Chappa Lawrence, and Bruno Mars — purchased the 38th floor aerie about 2.5 years ago for not quite $7.568 million and subsequently had it worked over in high style by Los Angeles-based designers Patrick Dragonette and Charles Tucker. Notable details of the almost 3,100-square-foot, four-bedroom and four-and-a-half-bath condo include motorized window treatments, custom closets, a built-in safe, camera-equipped security and a comprehensive home automation system.

Bob Costas is joining the starting lineup at WarnerMedia’s Turner Sports — at least for now.
The veteran sportscaster will serve as on-site studio host for pre-game and post-game coverage of the National League Championship Series on Warner’s TBS cable network, marking the first time Costas has worked game coverage for the media conglomerate. He already hosts a sports-journalism program, “Back On The Record,” on Warner’s HBO, and contributes to its CNN news network.
“It’s my job to kind of move everything along, be the traffic cop asking a few good questions,” Costas says in an interview. He has been calling and analyzing the sport since the 1980s, first for NBC and more recently for the MLB Network. Talks between Costas and Turner Sports were previously reported in August by the New York Post.

WarnerMedia’s Turner Sports and Major League Baseball have reached a seven-year rights extension through 2028, with HBO Max potentially a future venue for game broadcasts.
While the partners are not commenting on the valuation of the deal, it has been reported to be $3.75 billion, or $535 million a year.
The re-up will keep games on TBS, a longtime MLB broadcaster with particular prominence in the postseason. Under the new agreement, TBS will add a season-long Tuesday night game franchise and digital rights will be added to Bleacher Report plus what the official announcement called “additional WarnerMedia platforms.”
One of those platforms is HBO Max, which launched in May and has gotten off to a sluggish start. An ad-supported tier of the subscription service is due to launch in 2021 and executives have said it will include live sports and news. No details have emerged about those offerings as of yet and a...

Major League Baseball is staying on TBS thanks to a new TV deal between the league and Turner Sports, which now runs through 2028.
As part of the deal, TBS will shift its Sunday MLB game of the week to Tuesday nights beginning in 2022 which will run through the entire season.
The Tuesday night franchise will feature a new studio show anchored by “Inside the NBA” host Ernie Johnson and former MLB stars Pedro Martinez, Jimmy Rollins and newcomer Curtis Granderson. The new studio team will debut during this year’s MLB Postseason beginning with the American League Division Series. Granderson will also contribute to Bleacher Report.
TBS’ postseason slate will remain unchanged. It will get one Wild Card Game, two of the four Division Series, and one League Championship Series each year, alternating between the American and National League each year. The 2020 postseason was massively expanded to include 16 teams, up...

WarnerMedia extended its relationship with Major League Baseball with a new seven-year agreement that maintains Turner Sports’ access to post-season games and will create a Tuesday-night broadcast that seeks to emulate the Thursday-night franchise Turner has built with the NBA.
The new agreement will be in effect between 2022 and 2028.
WarnerMedia is expected to pay $3.7 billion, or around $535 million a year, over the course of the agreement, according to people familiar with the matter. The new pact represents an increase of approximately 65% over the company’s prior terms, which called for WarnerMedia to pay around $325 million per year, these people said.
“We’re delighted to extend our long-standing relationship with Major League Baseball and all of the opportunities this agreement offers us as we broaden our coverage of the game across all of our platforms,” said Jeff Zucker, chairman of WarnerMedia’s news and sports operations, in a statement. “We will...

Sports and business have always been closely related industries, but now they’re getting even closer in AOL’s newest original series. Win/Win debuted its first five episodes on November 7, 2014, on AOL On. In the debut episode of the series, Major League Baseball All-Star Jimmy Rollins of the Philadelphia Phillies and Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg talk about the state of paternity leave in modern businesses and organizations, as well as whether or not Rollins is a feminist. The two end their day together by completing the Als Ice Bucket challenge

Put Cleveland in, coach. He’s ready to play! (Even though all he’ll actually do is scout.)
In this Sunday’s The Cleveland Show (Fox, 8:30/7:30), Cleveland will become a Major League Baseball talent scout who runs with the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier – both of whom lend their voices to the episode.

The streak is over! On Tuesday night (July 13), the National League broke an incredible streak of futility and topped the American League by a score of 3-1 in the 2010 Major League Baseball All Star Game. In winning the Midsummer Classic, the National League will now have home field advantage at this year's World Series. Though Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann walked away as the Mvp of the game (his three-run double represented all of the offense for his squad), there were also great performances from New York Mets third baseman David Wright, Chicago Cubs outfielder Marlon Byrd and pitchers Ubaldo Jimenez, David Price, Matt Capps and Jonathan Broxton. It was an excellent game, especially if you like pitching, as there were a tremendous number of strikeouts spread across nine innings.

Last night, deep inside the bowels of the new Yankee Stadium, Shaheem Reid and I found ourselves given free rein to roam pretty much anywhere we wanted to in the Bronx venue. During game two. Of the World Series.
Now, we've both been backstage at some major concerts before. Or inside recording studios when hits were being created.
But this experience was entirely different.
Two music journalists who are big (big!) sports fans with the opportunity to masquerade as baseball writers with credentials to go just about anywhere we wanted. Only the guys in the Phillies and Yankees uniforms had more access than us. (And maybe that Jay-z fellow who performed last night before the game.)
When we walked into the stadium we were overwhelmed by the amount of people, cheers and general pandemonium that ensues during a game of this caliber.
We quickly found a staircase...

Assuming the wet, frosty weather in New York cooperates, the 2009 World Series will kick off tonight at Yankee Stadium. The New York Yankees (featuring perennial All-Stars Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez) will square off against the Philadelphia Phillies (who are the defending champs) in a best-of-seven series that will decide who the best team in baseball is. Unlike in past years, these two teams match up relatively evenly, as they both have explosive lineups, solid starting pitching and deep bullpens. According to most online betting parlors, the Yankees are the slight favorite, though it's really anybody's Series.
But that doesn't mean we can't handicap the teams anyway, and there's really only one way to really decide which squad will be truly dominant: Analyzing the at-bat music for key players on either side. A relatively new tradition at ballparks, just about every player in Major League Baseball has a song (or...
