Prince Harry’s leading lady Meghan Markle could front any movie, the director of one of her latest roles says.
Her TV background, from working on Suits, means she is someone who “hits their marks all the time, never fluffs a line and gets a script straight away,” Anti-Social director Reg Traviss tells People.
“She’s a very good actress — very, very professional and really well-trained. She can definitely lead a film – be it in an independent film like I work in or a Hollywood film — there’s no two ways about that. ”

We all knew Amy Winehouse, the wildly famous singer. But as a new documentary about her life proves, we really didn't know much at all about the real young woman behind the soul-deep voice, pile of beehive hair, and scandal-fueled headlines. Amy premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month - where I had a chance to see it - and inspired an emotional outpouring from critics and fans alike. I sat down with director Asif Kapadia recently in La to talk about the incredibly revealing footage he found and used to shape the movie. He also addressed the wide fissure he uncovered between the singer's public image and personal story. One of the film's biggest revelations: just how scary smart and wickedly funny Amy was. "I think there was a word she used a lot: bored. She was just so clever," Asif told me. "Her friends would be playing Hide and Seek,...

"The more people see of me, the more they'll realize that all I'm good for is making music," Amy Winehouse tells the camera in a haunting new trailer for the upcoming documentary Amy. Fresh off its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, the filmmakers dropped the first full-length trailer, drawing out a heartbreaking narrative of artistic triumph and personal decline.

"All I'm good for is making music," Amy Winehouse says in the new full-length trailer for a documentary about the late singer.
That's just one of several statements made in the "Amy" trailer that give it such a haunting quality. Directed by Asif Kapadia ("Senna"), the doc traces the British singer's highs - winning a Grammy, performing for thousands - and lows, up to her 2011 death at the age of 27 from alcohol poisoning.
The song used in the trailer - "Back to Black," written about her breakup with ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil - is a stark and mournful reminder of how talented Winehouse was, but also how dark her life could be.
The documentary has generated controversy, with Winehouse's family criticizing it for being "unbalanced." Reg Traviss, Winehouse's fiance at the time of her death, called it a "distorted depiction of Amy's life."
"Amy" opens in limited release on July 3.

A statue to honor late singer Amy Winehouse was supposed to be unveiled later in September, but the big reveal will now be delayed. The reason, according to Winehouse's former boyfriend Reg Traviss, is that her father Mitch Winehouse was unhappy with the finished product.
"He doesn't want anything to go up that he's not completely satisfied with. But obviously it's never going to look exactly like her," Daily Mail reports.
The bronze memorial statue was created by artist Scott Eaton and was planned to be presented at the Roundhouse in Camden, London next week. Now Eaton has been told to redo it, with the unveiling rescheduled until 2014.
Winehouse passed away at age 27 in July 2011 due to alcohol poisoning.

Apparently, he felt it was no good. This month's unveiling of a life-size statue of late British soul singer Amy Winehouse in Camden, north London, has been delayed after her father, Mitch Winehouse, was unhappy with the final design of the bronze sculpture by artist Scott Eaton. According to the U.K.'s Mail on Sunday (via Yahoo's 7 News), the Grammy winner's former beau Reg Traviss said her dad wanted it to be perfect before the public lays eyes on the Winehouse tribute being installed outside the Roundhouse, a performing arts and concert venue. New York — Tony Bennett doesn't think Amy Winehouse's life was tragic. He believes the singer who died at age 27 lived a complete life because she was able to achieve her goal: becoming a respected musician.
"Her dream was to become famous and a beautiful singer and she accomplished that," he said Thursday night at the first annual Amy Winehouse Foundation Inspiration Awards and Gala, where he received the lifetime achievement award.
"Even though she had a short life, she had a great life because she ended up praying for the success that she wanted and it happened. This is what this night's about."
Bennett, 86, was honored at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where attendees included Winehouse's father, mother and brother, her ex-boyfriend Reg Traviss, Harry Belafonte, Jennifer Hudson, Sean Lennon and producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, who was also honored.

Reg Traviss has said that he felt "victimised" after being tried for rape following a night out last New Year's Eve. Amy Winehouse's ex-boyfriend, who was acquitted last week of all charges, told ITV1's Daybreak that those accused of rape or sexual assault should, like alleged victims, be granted anonymity unless they are found guilty. Traviss said: "I feel very vulnerable to say the least. I mean it's very, very difficult to get on with your life. "Like in this instance, obviously I was bailed... but during that time I have to work, get on with my life, exist, and interact in every way that we do anyway (more)...

He said: ''It's true she was drinking to seek oblivion. I don't know what she was trying to escape from. She had a great new boyfriend, a great relationship with her family. London, Apr 28: Amy Winehouse's former boyfriend Reg Traviss has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
The 35-year-old attended a police station by arrangement and was questioned about an allegation made to police on January 18.
Friends of the film director are said to be devastated by the claim, which one insisted had come out of the blue.
"He does know the woman who made the report to police and he completely denies the allegation," the Daily mail quoted a friend as saying.
"He wants to do everything in his power to fight this," the friend.

Following the success of last year’s Cruel Britannia season, Horror Channel have announced another Brit-centric season, the Heritage Of Horror, which continues to showcase and celebrate British horror, past and present, at its finest – featuring two classics from the vaults and two brand new films, yet to be shown on UK television. I know I’ll be tuning in every Friday night – especially considering Horror Channel are showing one of my all-time favourite horror movies, the superb Blood on Satan’s Claw. I can also recommend 13Hrs, which I saw at FrightFest in 2010, it’s a great little (and by little I mean claustrophobic), werewolf movie. You can read my review of 13Hrs here.
From the press release:
First up, on Friday March 9, is Gary Sherman’s 1973 Death Line. Set on the London Underground, this moody shocker features brilliant horror icon Donald Pleasance in the lead role as a cockney copper.

Singer Amy Winehouse had a brief career full of jubilant highs and crushing lows. From Grammy wins and multiplatinum worldwide sales for her breakthrough Back to Black album and recording with Tony Bennett to drug arrests, struggles with substance abuse and her untimely death at age 27 as a result of excessive alcohol intake, Winehouse's roller-coaster ride seems primed for the big screen.
After initially rejecting reports that a biopic was in the works and saying that the family would not grant the rights to the "Rehab" singer's music for such a project, a spokesperson for the Winehouses clarified on Tuesday that "[father] Mitch [Winehouse] and the family would entertain ideas perhaps for a film but only one they were sure would tell the truth," according to Entertainment Weekly.

Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse have more than a few things in common: gorgeous voices, singular style, massive hair game. Are those similarities enough to suggest Gaga would be be a good choice to play Amy Winehouse in a potential biopic? According to Amy’s Dad Mitch Winehouse, yes. “I have heard that Lady Gaga is keen to play Amy in a film. I don’t know what her English accent is like but it’s not just an English accent she would have to perfect – it’s an English-Cockney-Jewish accent so she better start practising now,” Mitch allegedly told Britain’s Mirror. “But she would be great.” Plus, a role like this seems like clear Oscar bait. Then Gaga would be half way to an Egot!
