A recent docuseries released on Netflix, Alexander: The Making of a God, has ignited controversy among conservatives due to its depiction of Alexander the Great as a gay man.
The inclusion of a passionate kiss between Alexander, portrayed by Buck Braithwaite, and his close companion Hephaestion in the opening episode has drawn the ire of the prominent right-wing “End Wokeness” X account, well-known for its opposition to progressive ideologies. The account took offense to Netflix’s portrayal with the statement, “Netflix’s new documentary about Alexander the Great turned him gay within the first 8 minutes.”
Despite the conservative indignation and the subsequent backlash from its followers, historians have long acknowledged Alexander’s sexuality as more complex than a heterosexual orientation. The belief that Alexander was bisexual has been widely accepted among scholars and transcends ideological boundaries.
The portrayal of Alexander’s bisexuality is not a novel concept in popular media.

Ten years after Zeina Durra launched her well-regarded debut “The Imperialists Are Still Alive!” at Sundance, the London-born director returns with a mature meditation on the effects of trauma shrewdly incarnated by the always welcome Andrea Riseborough. “Luxor,” set in the eponymous Egyptian city of ancient temples, is a slow-burning, accessibly elliptical story in which a doctor pauses from war-zone duty and returns to a beloved place, looking back at the past, uncertain of the future and searching for meaning in the present. The feel is very much American indie, which suggests moderate art-house potential in the States.
Riseborough’s name will be an essential selling point (CAA is handling domestic rights), given the general lack of traction surrounding movies from the Middle East; it would be nice to think “Luxor” could open more international doors for regional fare, though that’s likely wishful thinking. Durra keeps the themes universal,...

Washington, Jan. 4: Egypt's King Tutankhamun's penis may have been mummified at a 90-degree angle so as to fight a religious revolution that his father unleashed, a new study has suggested.
The anomalies during Tutankhamun's burial were that he was mummified without a heart (or a replacement artifact known as a heart scarab); and his mummy and coffins were covered in a thick layer of black liquid that seemed to have resulted in the boy-king catching fire, Fox News reported.
Egyptologist Salima Ikram, a professor at the American University in Cairo, has proposed a reason as to why they, and other Tutankhamun burial anomalies, existed.
Ikram suggested that the mummified erect penis and other burial anomalies were deliberate.

Washington, Nov. 13: A new study has rebuked claims made in a British documentary that young King Tutankhamun passed away because of his deadly injuries that resulted from a horrific crash with a speeding chariot.
Researchers, who had made the claim, explained that the accident had crushed the pharaoh's rib cage and many of his internal organs, including his heart.
However, Salima Ikram, professor of Egyptology at the American University in Cairo, told Discovery News that it is not the first time that the chariot-theory has come to light.
Ikram asserted that it is impossible to say that Tut's internal organs were crushed until the canopic jars containing his organs are properly examined.
